Also, snacks that are not in vacuum sealed packaging can absorb moisture if they are subjected to removal from cold, low humidity environment to the normal Thai temperature and humidity. Moisture equals spoilage if not addressed in a timely manner. Food poisoning does not make for a fun vacation.
