Thanks.[/QUOTE]You start out asking questions about Angeles, but toward the end of your post you conflate Angeles with the Philippines, of which Angeles is only a very tiny part.

To address the first question about Angeles, in my opinion, there's not much to do there except chase the women. Yes, you can golf, or hit mediocre restaurants or go hiking nearby, but the girls are the main attraction. Compared to Bangkok or Pattaya, it's a wholly uninteresting place aside from endless sexual opportunities. That said, if you go with a buddy or two, and don't stay for more than two or three nights, it can be fun. Also the incidence of street crime (pickpockets and muggers) is likely higher in Angeles than in Thailand or Cambodia. Conversely, and again strictly in my opinion, the girls are much sweeter, less overtly commercial and more fun to be with than in either Thailand or Cambodia.

Getting out of Angeles, and into the hinterlands, the Philippines can be quite an interesting and engaging place. Though culinary choices are limited outside of the larger cities, the mix of tribal cultures, scenery, local customs and the general warmth of the people can be as interesting as either Thailand or Cambodia. Again, I'm not speaking here of Manila or Cebu, but some of the smaller areas / cities scattered all over the country. Further, given the widespread ability to speak English, it's much easier to communicate with Filipinos than with Thais or Cambodians.

For the guys that have not visited and plan an Angeles visit I think that honesty is expected so here goes.

There is no doubt that angeles city is a shit hole, the streets are dirty, full of beggars / scammers, the police are super corrupt and like nothing better than to add to their little pay with bribes / extortion / protection and general dishonesty, even the prime minister calls them scallywags and a disgrace to the uniform.

The hotels are expensive for the quality one gets, any hotel room under $50 us I would not put my dogs to sleep in, even room of $ 100 plus are not all good and similar hotels in most nearby mongering destinations will be less than half price like for like.

The food, ever wondered why there are no pinoy restaurants outside the Phills? The simple answer is that pinoy food has to be the worst in the world, yes one can pay very high prices to eat western food in western owned high end restaurants but again one is getting below average food for big money, most other nearby mongering destinations have very tasty local and int food at very reasonable prices.

There is as many have said nothing to do in Angeles apart from drink and bar hop, yes there is SM mall, a small cinema and a flying club and some golf but in truth the mall is small with little choice, the cinema is not multi choice, the golf not up to international standards and the flying club is old planes and low standards.

It is relatively cheap to fly into Manila from Bangkok, Vietnam, Siem Reap, and Kuala Lumpur. Then you get a private taxi to take you to and from the airport (or do it cheaper with public transport). Hint: Try to do it on a Sunday to avoid the atrocious traffic.
