I arrived in Medellin on an Avianca flight from Miami on Wednesday afternoon without hassle. I did notice that all the airline staff and Colombian security staff were wearing masks as a precautionary measure against possible swine flu. I just got back from my first trip to Medellin. This was my first trip to Colombia. I did a lot of research for it here on ISG before going and thought I would share with everyone my experiences.

I flew from Miami to the airport about 45 minutes above Medellin. That is a beautiful drive with lots of nice scenery. If you had a long flight make sure you take a [url=http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140][CodeWord140][/url] in the airport though since there are not many places to stop on the drive down.

I booked originally at the Medellin Mansion. But after a couple days I had to checkout because there was too much noise from the childish behavior of some of the other guests. One guy smelled really bad and would make me feel sick every time he walked by. I then went to check out the Medellin Executive Hotel. That place is way over priced for what is the equivalent of a 2 star hotel. Really funny name "Executive" for a place where no real executive would stay. I then moved on to Frank's My Place. I got to say dollar for dollar Frank has the best deal in all of Medellin.

There are a lot of real sweeties all around Frank's My Place. You just walk out the door and find anything you like, day and night. Frank is an excellent host and all around cool guy to hang out with. I bought him some rum and he talked up all the cuties for me. I also went down to central one night to get more perspective. Lots of crazy people running around. It really is a circus there. I would not feel safe there for too long. Mayorista has a much more friendlier environment where everyone is laid back having a drink. It is a much more hip place than central. Basically the posers and wannabes all hang out in Llaras while the people who know the in places all hang out in Majorista.
