Thanks for all the info. I usually go to the Phillippines on my vacation, but want to try something different and fresh. I think I will go ahead and do my weeks vacation in DR in Sousa. I can always go to the phils later on this year if I want. Thanks guys.

I always fly to Rio for my vacation now I want to go to the Dominican Republic but there are to many little places to go.
Where would I get the most bang for my buck at over there Santo Domingo, Punta Cana?

Nevertheless, Sosua is a "poor man's" Copacabana and Santo Domingo is a "poor man's" Centro. If you're looking for some kind of Rio comparable, I wouldn't waste your time in Punta Cana, Boca Chica, or Santiago.

If you want it easy and simple, go to Black Beards in Puerto Plata. Sosua is a small town 15 minutes from Puerto Plata Airport (pop, on the north coast), that has many pro chicas.
Santo Domingo is a relatively big city, the nearest beach to Santo Domingo is 35 minutes away. Prices for chicas in Santo Domingo start at around $25 and go up. Santo Domingo is a city and is not a quiet relaxed beach town.
Really depends on how you like to spend your vacation, chasing pussy 24/7, or relaxing near the beach and chasing pussy during part of the day.

Unless already included in your flight costs (varies from airline to airline) you need to buy a Visitor's Visa on arrival (US$10) and pay Departure Tax on leaving (US$20).
Some hotels may quote prices in dollars so make sure they are giving you a good conversion rate if you pay in pesos.
Everything else you are better off paying in RD$ (pesos). Euro has been climbing against the peso since end May 2010.
But don't worry if you take a few too many dollars. You can always get a good conversion rate when changing to pesos. In other words the difference between euro-direct-into-pesos and euro-to-dollar-to-pesos is minimal.

I am thinking about spending 3-6 months in DR this winter. I would like to bring my dog with me. 100lb 6 year old boxer. I guess this is way off topic for the board which is why I posted in the general area.
