I realize I'm doing more asking than sharing. But look at my profile. I'm a sharer. With that I have a question.
I am looking for panty dropper restaurants in Tijuana. The kind that make your dates feel like they'd never go without your gringo ass giving them a taste of the good life.
I already know misin, oryx, Faustine, ancor, crema why Verde, Justina, that Italian place across from grand hotel, and Georgina. Those are my regular rotation.
Is there anything new that's just sick and sexy?
Ancor is really overrated.
Try La Garra. Best oysters I've ever eaten and the special chocolate dessert is something you need to see to believe. Excellent service. Very popular. Make reservations.
Post 9/11 you're supposed to have a passport to get in and out. Its required. The question is whether it's enforced. They're not going to tell an obviously American man without a passport "sorry guess you're stuck in Mexico. Come back when someone mails you your passport. " And they're not going to waste the consulates time on this. But it doesn't mean it's a good idea. Why would someone not have a passport? That's the real question. Just get it done.
Thanks for your balanced assessment. Telling people they do not need a passport to enter Mexico and the USA from international location is wrong. Telling it like you did is correct. Border control may or may not make it easy. You are leaving your ease of passage to their discretion.
Here is the official word from https://www.help.cbp.gov.
Land or Sea Travel: USA Citizens (including infants and children) entering the United States by land or sea are required to present a valid WHTI-compliant travel document. These include:
USA Passport or USA Passport Card.
Enhanced Driver's License (FYI this is not real ID).
Enhanced Tribal Card.
Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) cards* (Global Entry* NEXUS, or SENTRI).
USA Military orders (PCS) with valid military ID. Accompanying immediate family members can use any WHTI-compliant travel document.
USA Merchant Mariner Credential with official travel letter.

Obviously the person that posted the question knew what the law is anyone can look it up. His question was in reference to seeing others use what he perceived as just a ID. So since this board is dedicated to those that have crossed often he wanted to verify if his friend didn't have a passport that he could still return. The answer is yes if he is a US citizen. I also said he might have to go to secondary to prove who he is.
You said flat out that you need a passport.
So from those two stories who is really telling the truth and letting the person decide? Because later you told a story about someone let into the US without a passport. Why didn't you tell that story in the beginning? That way the person would have a better idea of the possible delay in his return. You didn't give him that option instead trying to lie.
Maybe you like to lie to people and force them to do what you think is correct, I don't believe in that especially after the last 5 years and the government trying to tell us something that wasn't true because they want to control us.
I believe in man's free will.

And if you got to the question about what happens if you don't have a passport or alternative travel document. It clearly says.
What happens to persons who attempt to enter or re-enter the country without a passport or an alternative travel document?
For the general public, people who apply for entry but do not have appropriate documentation will likely be referred for secondary screening at the port. In secondary, Customs and Border Protection officers will evaluate evidence of citizenship or identity the individual may have and will verify all information against available databases.
Like I said this isn't the first time this has been asked on this board or others but I guess people that have no clue about this only go off what limited knowledge they have but act like experts.

Please don't do that. Secondary are not always nice, in fact they are usually pricks. They could put a note in your profile and you could be harassed every-time you get in even with allowed docs. Whenever you want their permits like TWIC, GE etc. That note will come up. Not a good idea. Also, you could be refused entry into Mexico if you catch them in one of their stricter moods.

You definitely should have a passport but I've seen dozens and dozens of posts across the internet about people crossing with their ID / DL experiencing just a short delay they especially indicated that a REAL ID makes it easier since only a few states currently have enhanced ID's. Haven't seen any 12 hour horror stories. I also think ethnicity may play a part in how long they detain you. If you're a Hispanic man, of course they will be a bit more suspicious. I'll see if my friend wants to roll the dice and try it.

This means that if you enter Mexican territory (Tijuana) through this door, you cannot return to the US the same way. In case you do not have documents like a passport, passport card and are not allowed into Mexico, Mexican marines will escort you to the US entrance (not far away) and hand you over to US officers, CBP. Then probably to an office behind glass where you have to prove that you are a US citizen. That is what biometric passports and passport cards are for, because otherwise any good Russian, Mossad or other agent with a perfect American accent can easily enter the US. It is true, in the past about 20 years ago you could enter Tijuana without documents because there was no Mexican border guard, and you can return to the US with a driving license. Now it is much more difficult.

Border Crossing
I've crossed the border without any document.
I explained to the border patrol agent that I lost my wallet and he let me through. No secondary.
That being said, it is unwise to try to cross without the proper documents (passport or passport card). You are really leaving it to the discretion of the border patrol whether to let you cross. I assume if you are legally allowed to enter the US, that this will eventually be determined and you will be allowed to cross, but only after varying degrees of hassle and delay. Certainly this is not something you would want to attempt habitually.

She loves to come down to visit me when I'm in Tijuana and the girl has no passport just a California ID card. I have global entry. I refuse to cross with her if we happen to go back at the same time. She's my homegirl and I love her and all but I ain't waiting in that line LOL.
Having said this they do seem to give her no issues getting back into the USA which amazes me as I told her she really should have a passport to cross. She's stubborn tho and insists she's fine crossing with just her California ID.

They insist on passport or passport card and won't even accept sentri or GE.
I know going back to the USA Is not much of an issue. One time an amigo forgot his ID and had no issues making it back with his ralphs card and no trip to secondary.

I mean many millions of people move here every year and their entire criminal history doesn't count against them since their felonies and murders happneed in other countries. Meanwhile an American arrested for shoplifting 30 yrs ago may still have that going against them. So if everyone and anyone is allowednin usa what significance is the us passport anyway.

The friends I mentioned live in LA and decided to go this weekend, I wasn't coming, too much football this weekend, didn't want to watch at HK or a tiny hotel TV. They went down Friday afternoon, came back Sat afternoon. My friend with no passport was able go get back with his California DL with little issues. They did question why he doesn't have his passport but told him they would have detained much longer if he was or looked Hispanic. They asked him if the address on his DL was current, what were the cross streets of his home, directions to his home from LAX, what high school he attended and the mascot of the school. Finally the system works in favor of a black man! Guess I'm not that much of an idiot!
