If he is not having any symptoms, he can get the first test done around 2 weeks from the incident date. He'll need to get retested after 2 months and 6 months (just to be sure and also for his peace of mind). All bacterial infections (like syphilis, UT infections) can be cleared with antibiotics. The chances of your friend picking up HIV is pretty low and there's no reason for him to worry unnecessarily. Obviously, ask him to use protection in all his future encounters. Also, ask him to abstain from bareback sex / oral with his GF / wife for 2 weeks. The critical thing for him is to just relax and not let his imagination run wild for every pimple / rash he'll get on his body.

I can confirm with high degree of confidence that the bar located up there in news a while ago for a politicians misdemeanor is indeed a pick up joint if you have necessary skills and abilities.
