Chicago85 I agree with your comment and suspect those numbers covered the entire day from 12 pm to 5 am. Still likely insanely packed during prime time.
Also during F1 week the hotel rates go through the roof and some of the Airbnb's even get in on the price gouging.
The big takeaway is to avoid SP during F1 if possible. Things were back to normal last week at Scan.

I generally prefer the ones with guards just so I don't get drugged when brining back new gfs.
But my rule is to only bring back the ones I trust and never had issues with.
Also, based on my experience, the Airbnb's in jadim paulista and itaim bibi tend to be very strict due to condomino (HOA) rules. Whereas Moema / Brooklin airbnbs are more flexible. I've also stayed in Pinheiros and even Butanta. My current airbnb is a 1-bedroom apartment in Vila Mariana, above a burger joint that only opens 3 days a week. I like it a lot because it's in a upper middle class barrio and Tangara is just around the corner. I wouldn't bring back anyone I don't trust as there is no guard.

Went there last week with some friends and the XE rate was 5. 28, offered 5. 10 and they said best they could do was 5. 15, but I asked if he could 5. 2 since we were exchanging a large amount of new $100 bills and they agreed after a quick phone call.

I took out R2. 000 yesterday and it came out to be 373.72 USD. That would be 5.36 reais per dollar.
Remember to use a no fee ATM or "yes fee" ATM if your card refunds you the fees. Always decline conversion rate offered on screen.
There are red banco24 horas ATMs in most bigger supermarkets that charge a flat fee of R25. Don't use those blue 24 hour ATMs at the airport.

No more ATM while I am in SaoPaulo.[/QUOTE]I changed money in Sao Paulo at a Bradesco ATM in October and got a rate of 5. 399 with no fee and in Nobember at a rate of 5. 27 with no fee, both of which were very close to the posted exchange rate at the time. Except perhaps at the airport, the only way you would get 4. 6 at an ATM is if you don't decline the 12%-15% mark up to the conversion rate they offer you, as I doubt the other banks don't have similar rates to Bradesco.
I'm not sure of any other banks, but the Banco Bradesco has this ridiculous button on the left side of the screen that you push to not get their ridiculous conversion rate that is probably 15% below the official rate. I can only imagine that it's there to get newbie suckers. Sleazy for such a large scale bank that is supposed to be respectable. I've also had many occasions where I had to push the button repeatedly to get it to give me the official rate. It's like a sleazy scam to hit newbies in Brazil. That's all I can figure. I don't recall this with Itau Bank. I quit using Bradesco because of this.

In the morning, we went at it again, all good! She gets dressed and she pulls out her phone to get her payment of an payment app. She puts it for are $5 K or 1 K USD. I said that's a mistake. She said no that's the price we agreed to. I said never have I paid 1 KUSD for a session overnight or not. I told her I was not going to pay that amount and she could call the police. She started to sob, mentioning in Europe she gets 1 K USD with no problems. After a few minutes, we agreed on are $2. 5 K. Just saying, when you negotiate always make sure those garotas are quoted in Reais and not USD. #lessonlearned.

Price quotes are in Reals unless explicitly stated otherwise. I would have paid 1k Reals and took the issue to Scandallo management if she wasn't happy.

(joking).
But jokes aside, we all know what she did. You paid 1.5 k more to get her to leave. This happens to all of us if we are doing this long enough.
