It seems the airport taxi mafia knows which cars to look for. One other private driver wanted to drop me in the paid car park so he wasn't seen dropping yet another fare at the airport.

For airport I collect numbers through the week then need to get one of them to accept. Not reliable.

As for trike pricing, is it the drivers that have driven up the price or overly generous visitors? The other consideration if you look at trike drivers is that none of them look like they are rolling in cash. Much of any profit is extorted through all of those random road safety checks by the PNP.

Over the years going to CRK with hotel cars or hired cars I have been asked to sit in the front seat to look like they are dropping off a friend. Personally I have found tipping adds a level of reliability for me.

I don't have the overall history of the trikes prices going up. Probably like which came first, the chicken or the egg? Either way the 100 pesos fares were getting good. Like anywhere else, everyone decided to jump in on the action. Even the city with high permit fees. Now you have an over supply of trikes sharing the same demand or even less demand fighting for survival. Little do they know they have paved the way for Grab.

The high trike prices have made the entry of Grab a lot easier just by comparison shopping. Also Grab adds an element of security with a documented driver and record of the transaction. Grab is still in its infancy stage. Surprisingly the drivers have told me most of their customers were Filipinos as oppose to foreigners!

I was able to get a couple good photos myself from a hotel upper floor across from Yokohama. The smoke was so dense that it was hard to see exactly what buildings were burning. From the black smoke I deduced it had to have been rubber or tires burning. From some news articles the fire was limited to the tire storage area.

And then to AC by Rabbit bus. I was dropped in town at the station and caught a trike to a hotel about 500 meters short.

Of where the McDs is at the bottom of Fields. When asked to pay he wanted around 4 times what I expected. I called.

Him a thieving prick and tried to enlist the aid of the hotel guard in getting a fair price. The guard just shrugged.

And said that is a fair price here so I reluctantly paid.

A few days later I finally figured it out. The base was still open then and while beer and pussy were cheap the yanks.

Had gotten into the habit of paying these guys a dollar for any trip, no matter how short. To this day the price is.

Disproportionately high compared to the rest of the country.

And ever since then I have never taken the pricks unless I have no other choice! Now you know.

Was partying for a week in Angeles over Songkran period, staying at ABC hotel. The new Aqua Beach Club on the roof of Tower 4 is a great place to take girls and hangout in the daytime or evening. I don't like paying higher trike prices myself in comparison to other cities. But who says they are comparable? Also we are talking about pesos. It always comes out in the wash. Overall AC is a bargain with lower cost hotel rooms and BF.

As I posted earlier I think Grab cars are the future in AC and it would not have happened if not for the high trike prices.

Btw, you can book Grab trikes for less than street prices.

Long and late post. So the current country I work in celebrates Easter, but I wanted to go somewhere cheap and warm for it. Unfortunately, it wasn't until a few days prior to my trip that I remembered what a massive holiday it was in PH, I assumed everything was closed and everyone went home for semana santa just like in Latin america. I asked about how the scene was in AC to gauge if it was worth going to. But it didn't matter, I would make the trip regardless and just relax and have fun. It turns out from my experience that it was much better than when I went during high season a year ago. I just spent one night in Manila (you can see my report there in the Makati forum), and headed out to AC early. It was a quick and easy trip. I took a nap to have energy for the night. I went out to Phillies for dinner. The service and food was actually pretty good, I highly recommend it. I wanted to check out some places that I haven't been before this time around, but first, I had to stop by Qbar first to see if any of the girls from there are still working there (I knew they won't be, the turnover is huge, but a guy can hope right? Qbar is much more lively and happening than when I was here a year ago. The girls are much better quality than before, and the place is packed with customers. I talk to one of the girls, who seems to be a big deal there. Seemed they came in a few times before asking for a barfine. The waitress took the cash upfront and he is not sure if the waitress was involved or not, as their rules are no money changes hand in the bar.
