What are the best hotels in Manila mainly for fun / mongering but also safety and price 4/5 star.

Are these near bars / clubs (preferably).

Ok, I'm Dr Slim and have been going to the philippines since 1997. I don't remember but there might be a way to search my dozens of posts and comments but I have not used this site in years. I've been to the Phils over 30 x. Here is the embarrasing part. Since I married my perfect filipina 16 years ago, we get picked up at the airport by family. BUT on our next trip we'll need to get into Makati on our own. What I used to do was roll my luggage over to the departure side and grab a metered taxi that just dropped someone off and use them to get into makati but its been years. HOW DO YOU GUYS GET INTO MANILA / MAKATI / TAGUIG etc these days. I don't like to use the airport car services as they are complete ripoffs. If I'm going to give money, I'd rather a regular taxi driver get it rather than the car service who robs the driver. FYI. I used to be a dirty old man monger to the extreme but have retired from mongering for 16 years. I have a million stories to tell but that's for another time. I'm kinda shocked my user name is still working on this site. LOL.

Which is better for pulling girls off of PinaLove for short time?

Makati or Quezon City?

And which is better overall in terms of food, cheaper hotels or airbnb and getting around transport wise.

I assume you are entering internationally. The airport has been redesigned, you no longer need to go upstairs to departures to get a taxi. Step outside the main terminal doors and the first thing you will run into are those touts offering p1500 to your destination (called coupon taxis). I like them as there is never a wait, always available, and you never share a ride.

Walk straight past them across the street and you will see a line of yellow airport taxis. The yellow taxis have a p70 starting flag-fall, and p4 for every 300 meters, and p4 for each 2 minutes. Price to Makati would be p500-600. You tell a guy at a small window where you are going first. He writes you a chit saying your name and where you are going. One copy of the chit goes to you, one copy to the driver. If you only get one copy (the white one), keep it even if the driver asks for it. Yellow taxis can only return to the airport, they can't drive around town looking for customers. Fare is about 50% more than a white taxi.

White taxis. I think you turn right at the yellow taxis and walk about 50 meters. You will see a line of white taxis. Standard p40 flagfall, and then p13.5 each mile, and p2 each minute. Just make sure the driver turns the meter to P40 at the start of your ride. Most drivers are more honest than in the old days. Trip to Makati in traffic might be p350-400, or closer to 230-250 in light traffic.

You can also get a Grab taxi I think (see the website below).

Taguig will require going up the C5 highway I think, about 20% farther than Makati.

The only real issue is that, depending on the time of your arrival, the wait for any of the options can be extremely long. If you're arriving late in the evening (after 10), my experience has been that even the coupon taxi wait time is inexorably long. I waited over two hours one time for any available taxi.

Maybe it's just me, but I have a hard time getting a driver that uses the meter. If your Filipina is with you, let her negotiate with the driver to make sure you get a good deal. That's why my ladies do best. Save me money hahaha.

We have trouble answering generic / vague questions sometimes, especially when they include the word 'best' (as in bars, or girls), as that is subjective. However I can suggest to you the 'best' website for mongering is ISG; really great pictures.

I've done some research here but I was wondering if anyone has some more recent comments on the FL action at LA Cafe, or more recently Midnight Haven.

I usually stay in Makati on business and wondering if the place is worth a visit or basing myself nearby these days.

I've been weeding out my contact list of previous FL's lately and getting rid of the one-timers, who despite being amazing at mattress gymnastics, hassle the fuck out of me for cash for their 'sick kids'.

Go on a Friday or Saturday night. 100-200 FL crammed in there by about 9 pm. While there are plenty of fuglies, there are always some gems. The trick is getting the gem to agree to your price point. YMMV.

I'll try and take a look.

I'll have a Friday night in Manila on my next visit in November on business.

Don't mind agreeing to a price point with the hotties as I'm a fairly good negotiator. Don't mind the semi-fuglies either sometimes. I've had some luck in the recent past with semi-decent looking FL's offering them 1000 p upfront and then 500 p a shot. Take it or leave it.

99% take up the offer and the bedroom action has been 100% better than the gogo barfine scenario _ Phil.
