Soon after the end of the Communism era night clubs popped-up all around Prague & the Czech Republic. Prostitution is legal in CZ but no one can make profit from this action except the prostitute herself - a night club´s owner can be sued by law. But in practice night clubs are tolerated as they are registred businesses (and got the right connections :) ).

In the nineties night clubs opened in off-center quarters like Zizkov (Prague 3), Smichov (Prague 5), Holesovice (Prague 7), Karlin (Prague 8), Haje (Prague 4)... The closest ones to the center being Ariadne and Manila on Zitna and Jecna streets.

At the end of the nineties new night clubs and cabarets opened right in the city center. Atlas was the first one next to Wenceslas square, soon followed by Nancy, Empire, Moulin Rouge, Bar Chantan, Captain Nemo, Desire, Rio, Dolls, Pussy de Luxe, Kabaret Prague, Hot Peppers, Mystery, Prestige, Cariocas, Banco, Paradise bar, Gogo Paradise, Sexy Gogo...

For many years now czech politics are talking about the legalization of prostitution´s business like in the Netherlands with registration of the prostitutes (individual business license) but no law was submitted yet.

But Prague slowly got the nickname of "Bangkok of Europe" and a bad reputation in international news & medias by attracting stag parties and sex-tourists. The Prague mayor and the City Council already talked several times about the creation of a red light district off-center but finally no Prague district never offer to host this kind of area!

It seems the municipality of Prague 1 decided it´s time for a change! They don´t want to see anymore night clubs, cabarets, prostitution and adult entertainement in the earth of the touristic center. The city council took action to close for good the night club Gogo Paradise on Jungmanovo square last month on august 11th.

The City mayor annonced he will use all legal opportunities to close other night clubs when possible in order to clean up the touristic center and give it back to higher level tourists and families. A new law forbiden some kind of businesses like night clubs, strip bars, gambling bars (herna bar), casinos and sex shops near a school or a church may be a solution to give power to the City officers to invalidate business licenses (and close current businesses) as well as to refuse to deliver new business licences (and block the opening of new businesses).

I don´t know if I have posted this before. But there are different ways people arriving to Prague how they want to go from the Airport.

Lot of people arrange pick ups from Arpartment/Hotels or take a cab from Airport and then are others who like to do the cheapest way to take bus 100 from Airport to Zlicín or take bus 119 to Dejvická. You will have to pay for a Transfered metro ticket and also luggage cost travelling with luggage.But you are entitled of a small travel bag not a suitcase without luggage cost.

There is another service called Airport Express not sure how long it has been but I used it for the first time beginning of last month from Dejvicka to Airport.
I think this has more advantage than bus 100 and bus 119 you dont pay for luggage cost and also it does not stop from Airport to Dejvicka also does not seem as crowded. Overall it will cost a little more with also buying a ticket for the metro, but it is well worth IMHO. It runs from 5 AM to 10 PM in the evenings and ends at Nádrazí Holecovice.

First: MarkAbc - do you know why they closed down GoGo Paradise? I was a bit surprised when I went to Prague the 16th of August and discovered that it was closed. It was sure one of the most expensive clubs, but with some of the hottest girls I've been with in Prague! Maybe I just misunderstood and got lucky that there were no control?

By rights using the bus 119 to Dejvická you should have paid for luggage by buying a transfered ticket for public transport, I am not sure how strict they are, as one Czech girl who works in a Hotel Reception told me she never pays for luggage when she travels.But by rights you pay 13 kc for luggage. That is a big suitcase it is free to have a backpack or a Hand travel bag.

Normally I have used this service, but I found Airport Express a better value, as bus 119 can get pretty crowded also bus 119 has 5-6 stops before going to Dejvická. I agree 500-600 Czk for transport is not really a need.

Hi S17,

1st: I didn´t get any details regardings the motivation of City officers regardings the closure of Gogo Paradise. I just know a major inspection happened last month that lead to the closure of the establishment on august 11th. Atlas was also checked by police inspectors recently but went succesfully trough the examination.

Kabaret Prague closed for another reason: the building where Kabaret Prague was located is going under total renovation/refurbishment. All tenants were moved and so all businesses closed.

To know the right person at the right place/position is always interesting in CZ ;) And club owners have some good connections for sure :)

But did you know that Gogo Paradise, Darlings and Sexy Gogo cabarets are owned by the same person ?


2nd: 26 czk is the price of a transfer ticket. Non-transfer ticket costs 18 czk. BigDan is right: a ticket is required for luggages (13 czk) as well as for bikes, dogs and strollers...

I guess that Sexy Gogo cabaret opened as a result of GoGo Cabarets closure. Anyway I prefer old GoGo cabaret instead of the new Sexy Gogo Cabaret. The girls are not as hot in the latter one..

When the owner bought the house on Ve Smeckach 19 and started the renovation/refurbishment, he had no idea Gogo Paradise will be closed down.

The owner wants to make money with both customers from higher and lower classes. Darling and Gogo Paradise targeting customers with BIG and full pockets, keeping Sexy Gogo as an alternative to who has "smaller pockets".

Prices are definitely cheaper in Sexy Gogo for both drinks and girls but as a consequence better looking girls are not interested to work in Sexy but Darling...
