I remember seeing these girls there EVERY time I was there. Never did any of these girls but always enjoyed watching them strutting around "advertising. " 10 yrs. Yep, that's a long time. Every time I walk by the "Museu" I whimper a little bit. BTW, does anybody have any idea who won the bell the door guy used to ring. I would loved to have had it to hang on the corner of my mantle and have people ask questions about it.
So many of those Help Girls had interesting life twists once Help closed. From getting married to former clients and moving to America / Europe or becoming super religious.
"Cristine" ended up going to prison for a few years. Her and a crew of her Help friends were stealing credit card information from their sleeping clients and then spending thousands of reais. Who knows how long they ran their scam before they got caught but from what I understand, they made some serious money! At least they fed her well in prison because she is like 3 X the size she was in that picture (Once in a while she can be found at MABS).

When you get down to it what other options do they really have? I just viewed many of them having fun enjoying Thanksgiving showcasing their cooking skills showing off their spread of food they cooked. To be honest I am very happy for them in the Tricks that married them I wish them the best. I enjoyed many of them over the years when I visit Brazil.

You are wanting to get laid and they are wanting to belong.
Which means different things depending on whether you are an occasional tourist or a regular visitor. I have had girls with no family in Rio or who lived far away and for whatever reason were not leaving spend the holidays with me for free. Fair trade. They are looking for something and you give it to them, you are looking for something and they give it to you. You just really have to understand what they are looking for and it is not money.
For the occasional tourist, things will start getting back to normal January 2 - 3.

Regarding Vila Mimosa. It seems it's not just a few bars that got closed down. Yesterday 80% of the bars got closed.

VM is definitely a dangerous place when there is a fire (I know by my own experience as there was a fire once in my room when I sessioned). However, I think it's unfair to close VM just before Christmas.
I have off from the Dec. 21-Jan 5.
I won't have much time the rest of the year to monger and haven't been to rio in ages. I am sort of tired of Colombia and need a change of pace.
Am I wasting my time going and trying to get someone or is there enough dates in between Christmas and new years to bone? Do they celeberate the 24th or 25th?

Christmas and New Year in Rio de Janeiro is excellent with great atmosphere. Definitely recommendable.
When it comes to privées it might not be a good time to visit. 21 and 22 are weekend. 23 is propably OK. 24 and 25 most privées will be closed. 26 and 27 should be OK. 28 and 29 are weekend. 30 might be OK. 31 and 1 the privées will be closed. 2 and 3 privées will be open, but many of the GPs will still be travelling. 4 and 5 are weekend.
Out of your 16 days about 6 days will be decent days to visit privées. The situation might be better if you visit termas. You also have the option of escorts, freelancers, boates and Mabs Zoológico.

De Copacabana are open on Saturdays until at least 6 PM. Termas Monte Carlo, Solarium, and Centaurus are open Saturday nights. Villa Mimosa, if it reopens again, should be open Saturday and Sunday, although it is mostly a horror show. I don't remember if the trash boates in Centro like 210 and 145 Uruguaiana are open on Saturday nights.
