Some of them have been doing this for years.

Some of them used to work in the gogos or elsewhere & still could if they wanted to. But they don't.

I don't think so. There are various reasons why attractive P4P gals prefer to work the streets. Try talking to them sometime & find out.

I would go with what bionic said. U can find several short term hotels once you find your companion. I would recommend any of the niteclubs / discos that been mentioned on this thread. Bangkok Beat, Climax, Insomnia, CM2, Mixx, Shock, Bossy to meet FL's Some of the GoGo's are open till 3 am too both in NEP and in Cowboy so you could start there and if nothing catchies your fancy then move to either the street scene as recommended by Bionic or then hit the clubs and find your company for a few hrs.

BKK is one of the best cities in asia for midnight fun with the clubs staying open till the wee hours of the morning.

Phachara Suites. Soi 6, steps from Nana BTS and Soi Nana. Big suites with kitchenette. Great location convenient to BTS and NEP; nice pool; easy to get taxi to BKK. One BR "Executive" 3, 200. My favorite place in BKK.

Dynasty Grande: Across the street from the Phachara Suites. Grand Deluxe SUITE is nice at about 2, 300 w / advance pmnt and 100% cancellation penalty.

Omni Tower. East side of Soi 4, south of Soi 6. One BR "premier" with kitchenette, wi-fi, *W / D* for 2, 700.

In Pattaya I recommended staying in the central part of town if you're a newbie. From there you can walk to Soi LK Metro. Southbound baht buses will take you to Walking Street. Northbound baht buses will take you to Soi 6. There are TONS of hotels in this area, in ALL price ranges. Here are some of my favorites:

On Soi 13, which is about as convenient as it gets:

Whitehouse Condotel. Deluxe room with kitchenette and balcony looks is nice.

Inn House Hotel, just down the street from the Whitehouse

Sandy Spring on Soi 13. Seaview suite at 2, 800. Regular suite 2, 500.

Closer to Soi LK Metro and east of Second Road:

LK Renaissance. Superb location in Central Pattaya. Both Deluxe Room and One BR suite offer kitchenettes. One BR is truly huge. High season rates of about 3100 for the deluxe and 3900 for the suite.

LK Mansion. East side of Soi Buakaow, not far from night market. &8223; Serviced apartment' model. Only one type of room, the Junior Deluxe, but its value for money.

Hotel Areca, on Soi Diana just east of 2d Road. Crawling distance to the Soi LK Metro Scene.

This close to your trip it's going to be a challenge to book a room as high season is looming. But you can do better than the Nana and the Penthouse.

Try India, to be specific Kolkatta city, though cannot assure you the quality and the exorbitant prices they'd quote if you are not a native there.

If you are in a place only to monger, I think its foolish to go to some country expecting to find women from another.

Neither was it 1000 baht OR less. In no case IME was it ever less than 1000 baht and they often demanded more than that.

As for the relevance of why they walk the street, this was directed to your comment that if you were an attractive streetwalker you wouldn't want to work for 1000 baht.

In a way you could call it little Bangkok as almost everything that you have in Bangkok nightlife can all be found in Soi 7/1 now. Roads like the now dying Soi 33 were the hostess road, Soi Cowboy and Nana plaza are the go-go bar places so Soi 7/1 if there is such a thing is the specialist in not being specialist or giving you a bit of everything.

By this Christmas besides the buildings not being used which there are only 3 of now once you get into the main part of the Soi everything but Crazy hot bar will be new or refurbed at least.

From the top down.

1. Star Inn.

Needs a clean but OK prices. Has a 24 hour oil massage place out the front. Has a few nice looking ladies about 5 in total at any given time. Not sure if a few might be lady boys or not but please correct me if I am wrong. It Has a gazebo or frontage for rent, could be a nice place for BBQ eating area or maybe a small coffee shop or bar area.

2. Real massage.

(Hong Massage Seems to be it's name). This place is owned by the same people who run Tarntip massage. It will not offer extras. It is due to open soon, looks very nice inside and takes over 2 buildings.

3. Trippe 1 restaurant.

A rather big project for a restaurant on this street. It spans a 3 building area and will be on 2 floors including a lavish mezzanine floor. According to signs will have Japanese, Thai, western, Indian, plus other food styles, so surely something to please everyone. I hope this works out for them as I am fairly lazy and if I can buy such a variety of food that is of a good quality and right on my doorstep it will be great for me. By the looks of it, it will be nice inside so best of luck to them. The outside wooden fascia looks very nice indeed so I am hoping this gives a hint as to the quality and level of professionalism when they do open.

4. Down Under Bar.

My old favorite. Owned by 2 nice Australian chaps (yes they do exist) , I spend many a Saturday or Sunday evening there watching football. Can be super busy and super quiet, always packed when there is some major Australian sporting event going on like the Melbourne cup recently. Always worth a visit for a few beers. They Started doing Fish and chips not so long back, don't like the chips much but got to say the fish was pretty good for the price, although I admit I am guilty of comparing the fish here to the traditional fish we get back in the U. K chip shop's.

5. Dr BJ's Nuru.

Number 2 of the soon to be 7 outlet chain. Specializing in body to body Nuru massage which is a gel from Japan, has some nice ladies and pretty medium price. New rooms, included are from small Japanese style rooms to larger more western style V. I. P rooms. Open from 11:00 to 1:00am.

6. Dr BJ's Budget Bangers.

(please indulge me with your comments, those of you who have availed yourselves of the services here). Cheapest full service place in the area with a very straightforward and easy to understand pricing structure. Got off to a slow start but picking up momentum now. Not the largest selection of ladies you will see, so book ahead from the website. Very nice rooms and very competitively priced. Good reviews so far but anything can happen in the next half hour. I am confident business on this one will pick up soon as change of tactics might be in order, as all our more expensive places get a lot more customers. Hoping the cheaper end guys start to move in soon. Any feedback for the venue please email direct. Of course for the price, no models but great service and unrivaled value for money. Open 10:00/1:00am.

7. Best Value inn.

Simple looking smaller hotel with restaurant frontage as well as small hours massage parlor built in. Have to say I have never been in or tried any of it, never seems that busy but I am sure it has a regular set of customers coming in from time to time. Ladies seem to try hard out the front and always have a smile.

8. Maxims Inn.

Was refurbed about 3 years ago I think. Clean, good price, has an expat following, what I mean by that is, expats who live in Thailand not Pattaya or Bangkok when they come to Bangkok seem to stay there a lot. Has it's own bar, restaurant as well as a small bar 'tony bar' situated outside run by a local as well selling late night cheap beers.

9. Pickled liver.

(British bar). Nice place for a quiet drink if you are looking to take it easy and have a conversation with a friend or two. Serves draught ales and lagers. Takes 2 buildings and nice frontage with a mezzanine floor with pool tables. Sells ok British food. You can order in from local restaurants as well. Many TV's showing live events as well as regular quiz nights. Can be very busy on quiz nights, a welcome break. Very new clean and smart inside. A favorite of many expats in Bangkok.

10. Sweet heart bar.

Mix of Lady-boys and women. Gets a party atmosphere going sometimes as I hear the bell being rung in there a lot. If you are into the lady-boy thing I am sure it hits the spot but not partaking I cannot comment objectively.

11. New hotel.

A 2 building frontage but 6 building upper area hotel. The owner told me he will get in 60 rooms, not sure how unless the rooms are like 1 square meter but I am sure there are smart ways of making use of the space you have. This will be finished by Christmas I think and will be the final place to be refurbed and re-opened on the Soi. I am not sure that this Soi or even Bangkok needs more hotels but if he has a nice theme and a good location (which he has) it may work.

12. Crazy hot bar.

One of the only places that will not be refurbed as far as I can tell. Nice owner, one day packed next day empty all day. Has a very regular set of customers all the time at the same time. One of the reasons I like this place is at some point in the week he blasts out some really funny and entertaining music, one of the high points of the week. I hope he manages to stay open as I am not sure how well his business is but it is a real character place.

13. Sip Song.

Owned by Sam of Tilac bar fame. Nice insides late night Karaoke / KTV bar. Multiple floors but only one building. Ladies outside. Not sure if KTV bar will work on this Soi but I am sure her regulars form the many places she owns will always come in. Last night I happily observed a load of very young very sweet looking ladies all walk in at once. Maybe interviews for new staff, lets hope so.

14. Dr BJ's salon.

1st of the DR Bjs chain. A blow job bar clean and 1 year old offering private rooms for all. Normally 30 staff on at any one time but get's pretty busy. Most of the BJ bar scene in Bangkok seem to be morning places but the Salon is a night time BJ bar place for some reason. That is not to say there are no customers in the day.

15. Magic Table.

A go-go bar in the mix. 3 buildings long and still going strong. Has a nice outside pool table area as well as glass floored go-go bar area inside. Normally 10-15 ladies of mixed quality on tap at reasonable prices. Give it a go, nice French owner / manager.

16. Eden Club.

The one time superstar like brothel in the thick of it all. Has seen better days but I will add seems to be on the up at the moment. I have seen some familiar old staff from another famous place turn up and it seems to have gone down well. Always liked Eden and I send customers and friends there from time to time.

17. Tarnthip massage.

A traditional massage place. I read on some forums that 1 girl in particular there gave extras so I went in and tried. Well she did not offer me anything and throughout the ok traditional oil massage she gave she spent all her time complaining to me about wanting to finish quick as she had a booking with another customer. She has now left I have been told and only traditional massage left.

18. Lady-boy massage.

(Plume massage it's called) or something like that. Loads of Lady-boys outside showing boards and speaking in deep voices asking for unsuspecting men to come in and try a bit of cock. Not my scene but what ever floats your boat.

19. Mario's Pizza.

When I walk past it sometimes it seems to me full of Indians all sitting around on tables drinking and eating pizza, another time you walk past it is closed. Not sure what is going on in there. Maybe it is so busy when it is open they can do without working for the rest of the week, or maybe it just is some meeting point for a lot of the Indian landlords around there who knows.

20. The internet shop.

Not a lot needs to be said here, internet access, printing, faxing and I think you can top up your phone.

21. New World Inn.

Has a nice French restaurant out the front and used to do great steaks. Last time I went I had a salad and a very very nice bottle of french red. Nice staff, OK rooms for the area and good price. At one point in time and humidor in it. Not sure if it is there still. Late night drinking here as well. Eden club used to use some of the rooms in the hotel if they overflowed not sure if it is the same arrangement now though.

22. Bangkok Beat.

Late night live music joint with freelancers. Even though very popular for all the right reasons, not my style of place as it is just too loud for me but I'm sure it is worth anyone's time to go in. Offers some great late night drinks deals also. I walked past on Saturday night en route to the Down Under bar and one of the touts outside was selling it on the basis of a ping-pong show inside. First time I was aware they offered this, may be a new addition but having never been in I cannot comment.

In summary the entire Soi has picked up in the past year and is a lot busier now. This trend is bound to continue with all the new places opened / opening soon. A wind of change has certainly blown through the place and for the better.

I don't recall seeing a Subway around there, except one on Sukhumvit. Streetwalkers along soi 3 & 4 & around sukh soi 5 is more my area of interest.
