[/QUOTE]Wow anymore south and you'll be seeing penguins and snow. That's quite a bit further down from where I'd expect specialist care to be found (Kemang and Pondok Indah spring to mind here). Quite possibly you even avoided going down Surdiman and into the SCBD area to get on the tollway to head down to Cibubur. You possibly went East and then down. So much if not all of what I detailed you may not have seen.

If you haven't been past Grand Indonesia, Plaza Indonesia, Hyatt and the big fountain in the middle of the roundabout that many foreign journalists like to do Jakarta news coverage from, you wouldn't have seen any of the train lines / overpasses I mentioned. For a change I'd suggest doing just that. It will be eye opening compared to the North. Do the busway running down Hayam Waruk to the South for a more scenic view to start. At Blok M you can catch the MRT, after a bit of walking to get to the elevated station. Then go to the last stop and busway a trip up to Pondok Indah and Gandaria malls and see how the other half (or 1%) live. Can even stop off at Mr. Braid across the road from Gandaria mall. Loop back through Senayan on the busway and MRT it back to Plaza Indonesia and busway it home. There's a solid day and night for you.

And get a BCA Flazz card at an Indomaret or Alphamart and put maybe 50 k on it. You can tag on and off the buses, trains etc with it. Also suitable for paying tollway charges. Not that I think you use that! Also useful for the train line to cut your walking up to Lokasari. Go south to Gambir station and busway over to Sarinah and then down the Surdiman busway. So many possibilities to be stared at by locals wondering why you've gone native on public transport. Actually, they don't even seem to do that nowdays. Bule aren't a novelty, or rock stars, or both, anymore.

Actually, you'll need the card for the MRT. First time I went to use it, I tried to figure out how to pay cash to get onboard, like I used to on the busway. The assistant saw me, and helpfully guided me over... to the station exit! Because foreigners shouldn't be using this stuff. Took a while to a) figure out I needed the card, and b) find one to buy and load. Once done, pretty easy to tag on and off all over public transport in Jakarta, and recharge at Indomarets etc.

No I haven't given up on Colombia or Medellin at all. In fact I love Colombia, from the culture to the chicas to the caldo de costilla and arepitas. It is true that there are alot of gringos in Medellin, but you can easily avoid them by venturing out into the barrios such as Santo Domingo bario up in the hills, or even expanding out into the other towns and pueblos. Last time I was there I spent some time in Pereira and Armenia and had some positive experiences bother mongering and non-mongering. I have also been to Cali twice, both times I stayed in El Obrero and banged the street talent there. I still have an apartment I maintain in Medellin and have an excellent relationship with the landlord señora who keeps an eye on my place and even cleans the dust and sends me walk through videos each month. I still have many connections to Colombia.

Unfortunately however, right after my most recent trip to Colombia concluded in March of 2024, I began receiving death threats from the boyfriend of one of my barrio chicas I had been seeing in Medellin.

He quoted some Spanish military proverb in a message he sent me: "En guerra avisada no muere soldado why si muere es por descuido. " which would translate roughly into English as a soldier who is warned doesn't die in war but if he does die it is for carelessness.

He then continued on to say: "apenas llegues a Colombia te vamos a desaparecer" which means as soon as you arrive to Colombia we are going to disappear you.

So I take it this guy was pretty upset that I was banging his girlfriend LOL.

I haven't ever mentioned this on ISG before but after I received those messages I decided to take a break from my beloved Colombia and explore other places. Plus I had always wanted to explore Southeast Asia. I spent two months in Thailand, one month in the Philippines, and two months in Jakarta last year and I had a great time here and I especially fell in love with Jakarta, so in a way the death threats from the jealous boyfriend in Medellin turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

It has however been almost a year and half now since I received those threats, and the chica has even contacted me telling me that the guy is in prison for something. I guess he used to beat her or something. So I am actually planning to return but I am not exactly sure when, and to be honest I really am loving Jakarta now and it feels much safer here than in Colombia. There were also many weird things that were happening in Colombia particularly around the time of the election in October 2023 that I never mentioned on here either. I remember one time I went outside on a regular Tuesday morning to go down to Centro and there were no busses running and hardly no people outside in the barrio and all the shops and tiendas were completely closed up as if it was night time but it was 11 am. I later found out it was something called a parado armado and local gangs had told everyone to stay home and not leave their houses that day or risk getting shot. Luckily nothing happened to me though.

Personally, I feel that Southeast Asia is much safer than Colombia, not only for mongers but for foreigners in general. I haven't received any threats from anyone here, and nothing has ever been stolen from me here either.

So to answer your question, I do plan on making it back to Colombia eventually but I am not exactly sure of when I will go back.

You may want to make arrangements that day for alternative fun if you can.

1) I was in Travel on Tue, and explained to numerous girls, at the introduction stage, that I want the 'GF treatment'. For me, that's kissing and BBBJ.

Hey Gabacho, thanks for a detailed reply. Wow, sorry to hear about your troubles in Meddy. Hopefully that guy is locked up for awhile. I completely agree re safety. Never have to worry about that in Indo. After visiting Indo back in May I was thinking to myself how much I love Indo and Classic and how safe and affordable it is, so I booked September trip first day I got back to the US. Then few weeks later while visiting Cali and Meddy I was thinking how much I love Colombia and Latinas, how passionate and interactive they could be compared to Indo Chikas even with my very limited Spanish. I just walked up to classic earlier tonight and it was completely closed (that was around 11 pm). The security dudes told me both T2 and T5 were closed and the club on the ground floor too and they would be closed tomorrow (Friday) also. They said they would all be back open on Saturday and just the hotel is open for the 2 days but none of the clubs / brothels.

A few of them have asked for 800 k (rightttt.) but I always counter just to see if they'd go for it. They all halved their original price. But I've only done three from the app so far, and all at 400 k or less, and all 18 or 19 yo and hot.
