Apology if this is offensive.
If you believe something is offensive then it probably is and you may want to rethink things.
I originally typed a solid reply about ST places in CDO/s Divisoria area for you.
Maybe a less offensive and more helpful post would have been a link so that he could have found it.
However I then looked at your paultry 3 previous posts,
Come on. No need to be insulting and vent your bile here.
which just ask questions (your first post was 9 years ago). You have not provided a single, solid descriptive Field Report.
So what. I wouldn't begrudge a person's request for information. The time you spent researching this member's post history maybe would have been better spent finding a way to answer his question. I know that if I had the information he needed, I would have given it to him rather than scolding him. In your estimation, how would the collegiality of this forum been better served; (A) by politely answering the inquiry; (B) ignoring the post altogether because it was jerking my chain; (C) berating the poster?
You (and other newbs) should: Go to philippines and provide a FR or two before asking questions on the open board.
It's not your call to make. A lot of guys patrol the forum look for peccadilloes (like the way you spelled paltry) and then pounce on fellow members. You don't need to do that.
BTW I think I remember reading and seeing a number of your pics in the photo section. I really enjoyed them. I am planning a trip to CDO some time and will look for your posts during my preparation.

His, and other such newbs should not clutter the board with routine questions. "Where can I find a good hotel in Manila" is not the kind of thing I want to see here. If you haven't posted any detailed FR's here on the phils board, hit me (and other board regulars) in PM with your questions. This is not the Columbia or DR thread.
Hello everyone, I'm going to CDO and Davao next month and was wondering.
Do these city's have an equivalent to a Sogo hotel I. E a hotel which you can rent a room by the hour.
As personally I prefer to keep my hobby private and also not worry about losing anything of value should one of those crafty girls get the better of me.
Buko Max. Nice reply.
Steve88 - you have 3 FRs tow are the same question the alst being in 2006 asking airlines to Gambia (are a serious monger really?
Google will answer all you need to know also spend some time RTFFing and you find a wealth of information.
Westie. Good reply, as I agree too many newbs ask question without RTFF. Look at India and the slowly declining UAE board that as once excellent for the reasons why Westie replies as he did (and gets support).
Guys,
Going to Boracay, any action there or I need to go to a larger island?
Thanks
No action there. You need to go to a smaller island. Try Luzon. Kindly refer to the post immediately below.

Regarding me previous post. We don't want newbs asking routine / general questions on the board for a reason. They are (almost) always takers, not givers. They ask questions, get answers, and we never hear back from them. The Original Poster is one of those: 3 posts in 9 years, none of them descriptive FR's. If you want to promote this behavior, respond to him on the open board.

Brave words
Hello again,
I'm a little surprised asking a question could cause such venom.
I have tried goggling the question but I'd preferred an answer from someone with boots on the ground.

The kinder gentler way to do it would be to give the info in 2 lines or less and with the next line say " now for this information we would like to see a good report on your success in _ city". Less energy, Less head ache, and more positive feedback will come from this approach in the future. Now there will be many who disagree with us in the open forum, but when ever I say something about this being a brother hood of sweet little mother fuckers, and not a mother hood of brother fuckers, I always get private messages thanking me for saying something about it. There are those who agree with us, but don't want to get involved in the rile that ensues from making their opinions public.
No action there. You need to go to a smaller island. Try Luzon. Kindly refer to the post immediately below.
Snitsch could try Tawi Tawi lost of white sand and quiet plus direct flights also? Yes?
Sniitsch. Given that this board has so much information and a tonne of stuff about your question a RTFF would be better, can't believe you asked it when there has been much discussion on the place.
Westie. Again I agree with your post (I hope this is not becoming the norm LOL).
For those who font like people replying with RTFF or some humorous / barber comment visit the India board, read the banners as that is a prime example. Also go to UAE board that is slowly becoming like the India. With many seniors lamenting old days.
LAT. Good FR but generally IMHO the newbs, 1-4 FRs guy never write a follow up FR they are takers not givers (again I refer to the India and UAE boards where this promise is made regularly but is never kept).

Just my 20 pesos L A T.
I think the problem is that it often takes a lot more than just 1 or 2 lines to answer the questions from newbies. So I'm with Westy here.
I don't mind to answer 1 or 2 short questions every now and then but you have to draw the line somewhere. Otherwise we find ourselves answering the same questions over and over again.
Hello again,
I'm a little surprised asking a question could cause such venom.
I have tried goggling the question but I'd preferred an answer from someone with boots on the ground.
It's not so much venom as it is the taking / giving issue. Steve, I will PM you with some CDO info. Promise you will write us some detailed FR's?
LAT, I'm with you about prompting the newbs to remind them to write us a report. But the history of the thing is that newbs get answers to their questions, then we rarely hear back from them. BTW, even guys with 500 posts who have traveled everywhere else, but not phils, are still newbs. "Been to DR, CR, Columbia, Rio, UAE, FSR. Making my way to phils for the first time. Looking for advice on an upscale hotel in Manila. Thoughts?" Yuck. BTW, we have this discussion on the open board from time to time.

Calbayog
Has anyone been to Calbayog recently? Its the main city of Samar.
I was there many times in the middle ought and was not impressed. I stayed at the Eduardo Tourist hotel a few times which was the best accommodations in the city and it was barely a 1 star place. I never forget the sign in the room prohibiting the drinking of tuba in the room.
Another place towards the end of my travels was Marju Crisel a place isolated on the way to the airport. It was a decent room but it was situated in the middle of nowhere. I think I was there when it was newly opened.
Has the city evolved at all? I doubt it.
I have a few Samar girls I want to meet this April and I will most likely bring a couple to Tacloban to meet me, Tacloban 100 X more modern than anything in Samar.

He's probably a good guy, but not yet a paid member, and asking questions in his first post. Ick.
How can you discourage a person who is traveling to a destination for the first time from asking a question? You do not want to be helpful for the sake of it. If a person is or is not a Card Carrying Member of the ISG is that person's choice. You resent members who aren't abiding by rules of your own creation. You are contributing to a hostile climate on the forum. You may be getting to absorbed in the ISG. Think about taking a break.
(your first post was 9 years ago). You have not provided a single, solid descriptive Field Report.
A nine-year member with 3 posts?!? None of which provide info?!? Nine years! Willfully a forever newb. Bloody hell. The neck of some people.
Think about taking a break.
My eyes just popped out of my noggin. You're telling Westy, the guy who's most responsible for the excellent state of the photo thread, a guy whose FRs and PMs are amongst the most informative here, to take a break? Have I read your comment correctly?
