Yes, it is hard in Cuba these days. Though if you do not speak Spanish, it will be hard everywhere unless you are into the transaction sex.

I have visited numerous other countries and go back to Cuba for the music and visit friends.

Well, nobody is saying you can't find action in Cuba. And if you are not picky, you can find lots in a place like Havana. But for those of us, who have been going for many years, Cuba is simply stratching the bottom now.

I heard that the mid-90's was the Golden Era of poon in Cuba, you could easily find hot barrio girls for a few dollars, and they weren't as afraid of the police.

I just saw a documentary called "Quien Diablos es Juliette", from 1996. It's about a 16yo semi-pro from Havana and she was saying how her price was $1 per day, plus a little extra for sex. Too bad I was a teenager and had no money then. I would have been there so fast!

But in any case it's been 15 years since then and times change, that's all there is too it. There is more of a stigma to being a jinetera, and also the economy isn't as bad.

So what happens is that the girls who do decide to fuck on the side are the ones who want the cellphones and the Nike shoes, and if they're really hot and have no hang ups, they'll do it full time, like the hardcore-pros you see in the clubs.

Are there "normal" girls available in Cuba, sure there are, but you aren't going o find them in the 5 days you have on your summer vacation, or near the AI's or in the Clubs (though you are starting to see more "normal" Cubans in the CUC discos also, especially when they're playing raegetton, lol), you have to put in a lot of time and effort and develop contacts, etc.

When I was there in February, I was at this Peso sandwich shop and there's this black dude in his 30's talking to this pretty white girl in her school uniform about money and shit, she seems to be paying pretty close attention, I ask him if he's her cousin (yeah right more like pimp) and he says are you a cop (because he wouldn't be going to jail if I was right?) and then I see them leave together. You know that this is in Cuba because instead of leaving, he would've pulled out his .45. That dude was a straight-up pimp, just like in NYC or Atlanta, or L.A. And increasingly those are the girls you're going to find in Cuba, just straight-up hoes.

I will be in Havana for a couple of weeks next month and will be sure to report on my exploits. I will be staying in Centro at a casa I hope. What is better the Malecon or Prado for finding young hot babes?

If what you were saying were true, Conculo, you would see almost as many puticas on the malecon today as you did in the early 90's. They would be still be there, but their prices would have gone up due to the better times.

The opposite is true: Not ONLY have prices gone up, quantity has gone way way down. This is because prostitution has illegal and actively enforced. And the penalties are severe. Where you used to see 100's you are lucky to see 1 putica.

Compare Cuba to Thailand. Prostitution is illegal but widely tolerated. The price has gone up in Thailand as well. This is mainly due to overpaying sex tourists and also due to Thailand's improved economy.

You can't blame the price increase in Cuba primarily on stupid overpaying sex tourists. There are hardly ANY sex tourists (compared to SEA, Brazil, Ecuador) there is hardly a well developed sex tourism industry in Cuba. Everything is clandestine, underground.

The reasons for the price increase in Cuba are (in descending order):

#1 Persecution of jiniteras. (BY FAR THE OVERRIDING FACTOR)

#2 The improved cuban economy

#3 Overpaying sex tourists.

Crack Baby - blondes do exist in Cuba, but certainly genuine blondes are few and far between. There are quite a few of the 'peroxide' variety!

If you are looking for a regular girl then, unless your very lucky, Spanish is definitely a requirement as very few locals speak English.

O.K...I find it funny too. Looking for blondes in Cuba is like finding a needle in a haystack. In all my years there, I think I saw two real ones, but not in Havana.

Amigos,

Some Mexican clown has rented my regular casa for the rest of the year, so now I need to find a substitute casa for my one month visit in September/October.

Hoping some of you fellow-veterans can help me out.

My regular casa in Vedado is a rare jewel. The owner does not even live there. It is the only place I have found with that beautiful set-up, but I know there are others around.

Needless to say, I am not one of those idiots who take advantage of good casa-setups. I know the ropes, and am discreet in any way. Also, I would always respect that anyone who helps me would have first pick on the casa in the future. That is my own rule # 1 for the few people I have given my own casa info to.
