Thanks for the write up. Even though not info I need very helpful for you guys thinking of coming here.
You seem like my type of guy hitting all the gogo bars.
Just to be more specific for the others, Soi 7 and Soi 8 are imo more ladyboys than girls.
Can I recommend Phnom Penh? Read their thread in about a week or so. I'll write something up when I return to Pattaya.
I've stayed on Soi 7/8 the last ten plus years. There are mostly girls in the beer bars, with the rare LB, but not necessarily attractive girls. A lot of 5's or 6's. You will need to look hard for something better, or head to WS.

Timing
It is just my opinion. The Article stating the PM comments, " Asking the people to Refrain from Entertainment for a month ".
They are just asking and asking is this? Business shouldn't appear as normal? If you put a spotlight on yourself the place will be closed? You might see a request that places observed the closing time? You might see some type of curfew on Entertainment places like when the coup took place. Place must close at Midnight or 2 am, you will see Thais or even at the Go Go's, girls wearing Black for a few days to observe. A few days at the most, a week and that depends on the situation and how little respect you have for the situation?
After the first shock is landed it will cover before the month is over.
Remember a year or one and a half year ago when a important monk died.
There was a similar message but after two days all was back to normal.

The Thailand entertainment shutdown might not be as bad as first thought. Some bars will be closed for only 3 days. Others 7 days. I'm not sure about the fate of the Go-go's but I'm hoping they'll be down for a week or less:

Talk to the boots on the ground just now. Was told just cruising down Soi Buakhao, many of the bars that were opened had no music nor were the lights on. Many of the smaller bar were closed I consider the real hard core believers and will take a wait and see approached and take it one day at a time.
All the massage places in the Soi Buakhao area open waiting for the booming business?
Not sure of the 7/11 since my boots doesn't visit as often since they are no longer selling AIS 1-2 Call top up slips for your phone to see if they are selling liquor but his stop at Big see Extra the liquor department was taped off as being closed.
Lots of locals wearing some form of Black to show respect.
Will get a first hand update later what WS will look like tonight?

I know the source is Pattaya One but......
"Although some bars are closed others remain open as usual and the beers are flowing. Some bars have been told by the police to close until October 18th, others have been told to close until further notice. Some report that they can open or close at the owner's discretion.
The bars that do remain open must keep the atmosphere 'toned down' and there will be no music played. ".
Dare I say, that you may have little idea what you are really talking about. This one is the game changer. There is no comparison to anything before.
True. But nobody's bills are going to get paid and nobody is going to get fed by indefinite mourning. When the hunger pangs (the true game changer) kick in everyone will be back to work.

Today
Out and about early evening tonight. Lots of bars open, while only some bars were closed. It's quiet but there are girls in the bars. I also drove by soi full love inn with the 4 working girl houses. ALL of them were open. It's quiet out but this is about normal for low season anyway. Main difference is no loud music at the bars.

I just got this from boots on the ground the tour was done between 7:00 pm through 8:30 pm.
A ride through Soi 6, had the around 50% of the bars open with girls. No music and the lights were deem.
A ride through Soi 7,8,80% of Bars were open with no music and lights deem.
Going down Beach Road, quiet all BeerBars open no music lights deem. At the foot of Walking Street, the large neon billboard is off. A walk through W. S. Had many of the Go Go closed but a number were uncertain with guys and gals standing or waiting outside? Many look like they were just uncertain as to what to do standing around thinking of opening or not. Spice Club (formerly of Beach Soi 15,) had lights on and ready to open in by 8:30 pm. Sugarbaby Go Go was open and so was G-spot look like was open with guys standing outside. Place downstairs from 808, was open no music lights deem. Bacarra, Happy, Peppermint and Beach was clearly closed chain on door of Bacarra. Soi Diamond all the clubs were closed including Windmill.
Going down Soi Buakhao, same at night as it was during the day many closed the one's open no music and lights deem very few customer. LK Metro, many Go Go were closed but it seem Bachelor, Ninja? Queen, were ready to open. All Beerbars were open with no music and lights deem.
In spite of all the above one should have no problems getting girls. Lots of people wearing Black. I would be surprise if this goes beyond a week. If it does I just see a modification of the opening hours. Maybe a curfew like before for the rest of the month. What worries me the most and it's just my opinion the shit will hit the fan after a year?

Timing wise
Dare I say, that you may have little idea what you are really talking about. This one is the game changer. There is no comparison to anything before.
Overtime we will find out which way it's going.
My impression comes partly from gut feeling.
I agree with you that we can't compare this loss but we have to be realistic live must go one and specially this industry can't for a very long period without customer funding.
There will likely be serious change. Thailand will never be the same. Watch and see.
I have just come back from Pattaya today to Singapore. Yesterday night was dead. Luckily my last night. I do like the music, lights and party atmosphere and thats why i go to Pattaya. There are speculations about the time lines for bars to open. Insomnia has posted a image about Full moon party on 14th October on their FB page. So it's assumed that within 3 to 7 days things should be back to normal.
One of my girls had to go back immediately after dinner at 11 pm yesterday because her family didn't want her out plying trade.
Point is I also foresee some serious changes henceforth. Things might really not be the same.

I think over time conditions will loosen up. The puritans who pushed for the last political changes will be diminished.
Point is I also foresee some serious changes henceforth. Things might really not be the same.
I am concerned about the medium to long term political stability of the country after the One Year mourning period ends. The king was the glue that held this country together. The left, right and the military all respected him and listened to him when he chose to speak. Going forward, the new King will not have this same majesty or respect. He has his work cut out for him. I am not predicting it, but things could go bad fast.
Meanwhile I expect the P4P venues to be open for business soon, but to remain very subdued for the remainder of the 30 day mourning period. Social media sites like Thai Friendly, Badoo and others should pick up the slack and it might be a real opportunity for them to gain market share. By mid November, however, things should be back to normal in LOS until the December / January crazy high season takes over. I dislike BKK / Patt over the Dec / Jan period. Too many drunk holiday punters. I am booked to return to BKK in March. I am really looking forward to it and baring any unforeseen events, I expect to have a really good time.
