Just returned from 2 weeks in Thailand and Cambodia, including 3 nights Majestic Grande during Songkran. The experience was great, here's the mini points everyone should know:
The hotel is Small and Vertical. Unlike the Holiday Inn Silom where we stayed last year, which has a huge, expansive lobby, this feels small and intimate, although there is a piano and someone playing often. Truly a boutique hotel. From front lobby to elevator, a very short walk past a restaraunt and cocktail lounge. Staff is flawless, polite, kind, and made no complaints at all when guests returned dripping from Songkran madness. My room on the 14th floor had a good view, the floor was solid granite with inlaid teak underneath kingsize bed, glass desk overlooking window, fresh fruit basket (a real surprise). Bathroom had huge tub/shower, and the whole place had great home automation with a bedside controller that worked flawlessly.
Breakfast buffet was very nice, selection of fresh fruits, bakery stuff, sausages, eggs to order, etc, plus dinner entree items on the breakfast buffet as well (Spinach Lassagne and curried sea bass, among others, plus the full cheese tray. Maybe they are trying to help the jet-lagged guests? All delicious! ). I did one day takeout from Annie's, which is literally right across the street from the lobby entrance. Zero problem with staff about takeout, we arrived and returned at all hours, never asked to register. Staff enters the room several times a day to clean and re-make the bed, this was a pleasant surprise: we fucked, went to breakfast, bed was made when we returned. So we fucked again, went to lunch, bed remade when we returned. Not sure what the rates are for this hotel, since I got this as part of a package tour, but I'd certainly come back to this hotel again.

Its probably a bit better than a boutique hotel.
Rates are close to 3K Baht on Agoda. Internet may cost extra. Its certainly a good hotel if you are prepared to pay that much.
I enjoyed it but generally go for cheaper options.

I had originally booked into the Majestic Suites for 4 nights but the last night they were fully booked so moved me over to the Grande instead. Very nice place but definitely a bit more upmarket than the Suites.
The Suites has been well documented on this site and is a favourite for mongers with it's close location to Nana. I had a good stay there 3 years ago and brought a few girls back there. But I really hit it off with a few of the girls working at the front desk (they are no longer there). They would tease and flirt anytime I walked through the lobby. So on my last night there I called them on it and said after their shift they should be ready to take me out for a night on the town. They positively shreiked with joy and a quick conversation in Thai ensued. Then they turned to me and told me to meet them in the lobby later that evening. They showed me a great time at a place called The Coliseum (I think) which seemed to be more of a Thai place. Couldn't really get anything going with them but managed to catch the eye of another lady at the adjacent table. Still keep in touch with them to this day but missed on my recent visit to BKK since they are all working outside of the country now in the hotel industry. Good times though.
About a month ago stayed at the other Majestic property called Citichic. Very pleased with it and will write more later along with several FRs I haven't had time to write yet!

Sounds like a good buffet! Many cultures make no distinction between breakfast and dinner food types. I have had curry, stir-fry, etc., on the buffet at Asian hotels. It's probably better for you than eggs!

Note that the Irish Independent story says fruit smoothies aren't good for you. I sucked one down over by the Grand Palace. Gave me a brain freeze.

A smoothy can be fine as long as don't add sugar and a good diet book will advice not to over-do fruit intake that has high sugar content. Its better to get the fruit fibre than drink juice.
Germany has the most impressive breakfast buffets, in my experience (haven't visited every country) and some other European countries do well too.
But the breakfast variety at Majestic Grande has a very good variety to hopefully keep many different styles of people happy. Has all that cereal and toast stuff that I never touch too.
Eggs are good for you (modern scientific thinking).
Curry is doubtful due to coconut saturated fats.
I don't know about YOU but I tend to eat less in the heat and humidity. I lose weight, but it finds me again after I get home. :)

You got to remember that the clientele at that hotel was at least 45% Arab. Thus the possibility of the hotel to accommodate a wider range of religious dietary restrictions. Well thats what I seen when I stayed at the Grand….. Dam it all i ate the Bacon LOL

First-hand experiences really appreciated....[/QUOTE]I've stayed in GP many times over the last few years and it has definitely improved a lot since they have refurbished each tower. I tend to go for The Executive Studio as it's a good compromise between a basic room and a suite having being a large room with a sofa, coffee table, huge fridge and a microwave for blasting the dodgy food I've staggered back to the room with at 4am!!
Last trip about 4 weeks ago, I stayed 3 nights in Royal suite which was maybe a bit overkill for someone who doesn't make it out of bed til the afternoon!! Very nice, big seperate living room, big king size bedroom, kitchen area with washer/dryer, big LCD TV etc. On last 3 nights back in Bangkok I didn't see the point in the suite so went for the Executive Studio. Although nice and big it was a bit shabby and tired compared to others I've been in there.
Always had perfect service there and the staff are always very helpful and pleasant and remember me from previous visits (usually as I've had to make the walk of shame out past the reception each afternoon with an overnight friend as Executive studios tend to be in Tower 1).
2 pools but both small. Ok for sitting in the sun for a few hours. Nice gym though even with best intentions I've only managed to visit it twice in the 10+ times I've stayed there.
Very handy for Nana and Soi Cowboy (short taxi ride or 10 minute walk).

I will arrive via a flight that reaches at 11 pm and I will depart by 9 am flight the next day.
Any reasonable hotel recommendations (close to BKK , Suvarnabhumi airport) GF and staff is cooperative to make the necessary arrangements for room service.

As platinum member access to lounge, here now, rocks. Lovely spread w/snacks & drinks. Enjoying w/tbfn yesterday & only other guy there comes up beside me hey I says, I know you. Belgian martial arts movie guy, in room next to me. Funny. So as I mostly complain, nothing bad to say here. Probably pricey but w/miles I'm down. More MP looking today.

I checked the Forum but did not find any info on them.
Would anybody be so kind and tell me if these places are GF and share any other relevant info?

It's a few hundred yards down the road (perehaps a couple of hundred yards beyond Annie's), not too far to walk but there is a tuc-tuc that runs in the day time (up to 5pm). Hotel and rooms are modern, bright and clean. Rooms have a small kitchen area, a small dining table, big FS TV and hifi system. Room service was a bit hit and miss, and occasionally had to phone down for re-stocks of shower gel, etc. Swimming pool on ground floor was out of action while I was there, but was a bit disappointing anyway as there was nowhere really to sit by it. Well-equipped gym. Cafe also on ground floor serving standard breakfast for 190 Bht, and other meals during the day (not that I ever ate there). Internet access in lobby and possibly wifi in rooms, but I used my own connection.
Paid 2699 Bht per night which I thought was OK. Overall very pleasant hotel, perhaps not quite as good as the Adelphi Suites or Dream Hotel, but better than Le Fenix, and much better than the Salil Hotel. I would happily stay there again as I prefer 'boutique style' hotels, but my guess is that the price will rise over the next 12 months.
Can't really comment on GF policy as checked in with gf for week. One night another girl came back to pick up her bag that she had left in my room earlier, and was stopped by the rather grumpy male receptionist. So she waited downstairs while I collected her bag. From that I presume there is either a joiner fee or requirement to leave ID.
Oh, finally, there was building work next door that woke me up every morning... Luckily had to be up anyway.
