Hotels near Paulista area
1. Which hotel do you all recommend and is girl friendly near Paulista area. I want to be 30-40 minute uber ride from Scandallo, Casaro, Gauguin.
2. is it easier to just take cash with you and exchange in Sao Paulo?
Is it ok to leave the money in a safe in the hotel?
Never had an issue with Schwab debit card
The Schwab debit card is a monger debit card of choice (there are others). It's widely accepted, and they refund all ATM fees at the end of each month. If you use an ATM, never use one that's easily accessible right from the street since those are easier for crooks to mess with. Always stick to the ones located inside of a secure, enclosed space.
To add on to the OP. I've had Schwab since 2006 and been all over the world with it. Never an issue. They are also very good at sending you a new one should you loose it anywhere. Lost mine somewhere in MXCD. Got a replacement in 2 days FedEx. Since we are on the topic of ATM's, what is the best Bank to use in SP? I've used Santander many times. What ATM should I use in GRU airport when I land?
No ATM in GRU baggage claim for terminal 3
Assuming you arrive in Terminal 3, there's an ATM located in the baggage claim area just as you enter from the Immigration desks. Because it's in a secure location, I feel safe using it. I wouldn't use any of the ATMs landside at GRU.
Based on info provided on this board in late Jan 2026, I looked long and hard for this supposed ATM at GRU baggage claim for terminal 3. This was on Feb 27. I can assure you: there is no such ATM. I looked all over for it. It does not exist. I asked a female official who worked there at baggage claim (Terminal 3) where the ATM was: she said you had to exit baggage claim to find an ATM. So maybe there used to be one there, but not now. Anyway, I would be curious what anyone else finds who seeks out this mystery ATM. Let us know if you found it. I myself will be flying back to Sao Paulo in six days, so I will check it out again too.
I am also going to check out for the first time the Bradesco ATMs which are said to be located at terminal 2 mid-level (in the direction of terminal 3 by the SUBWAY restaurant). More than one person has said that these ATMs exist between T2 and T3, so I am going to seek them out.
