I'd had girls who promise kissing beforehand and then turn the cheek in the room. No tip. I've had girls give me no oral. No tip. Don't be embarrassed to use the phone to tell them that there service was not good, if that was indeed true. If I like the girl / service, I tip 100 K.

Tip for the mamis: fuck that. I've never tipped one. They're annoying see at nts who hassle you all the time. They earn money whenever someone takes ones of their girls.

Entry Charge: On T2 (it's on the 2nd floor), the minimum spend is 30 K IDR (about $2! I think it's similar in T5.

How to pay: when you choose the girl, tell mami that you will sign the voucher. This means you don't need to give mami the money and worry about getting the 35 K change back from 400 K (which I've always gotten back). It's easier if you sign vouchers for all your spend, and then at the end of the evening, go to the pay counter, and pay the whole lot in one go, using cash or card. I think there is a small surcharge for card, like 10 K, but it's so small, it's not worth worrying about.

Other advice: Just ignore the mami's. Walk around like you own the bar, and look at the 100+ girls seated on the sofas. If you like the look of a girl, smile, and ask her mami (or ask the girl directly) to come and talk to you. If the vibe is not good, tell her "terma kasih" and send her back. No pressure at all. If all is good, tell mami, you want to go to the room, and she'll fill in the paperwork.

If you are from Japan, you never tip.

If you tip mamasans, you also can tip the guard, the cleaner, the DJ.

Others only tip if the service was very much above excellence. Or, you got her phone number and she may come to your room later that night.

I tipped 10,000 to each of the 9 room cleaners at Classic near the end of my stay. They have a dirty job to do and they saw me so much last year. They were surprised but really appreciated it.

T2 used to depend on the night but I'm sure it's 50 k most nights. I never look because I end up ordering a drinks which costs more than the cover charge (cover charge waived if you spend more than the cover charge).

Not so long I was in Classic the quality of girls was terrible, I have never seen it worse. Also, more foreigners than ever before. 7-8 years ago it seems like you would see one bule at most, sometimes none. Even a couple years ago there weren't a huge amount of white men, but more than 7-8 years ago. Whereas bule are everywhere now in Classic, and a lot of Chinese (they were there before anyway), I even saw a black in there with his black woman. Never seen that before. I would say 10 x the number of bule in Classic compared to pre-COVID.

It seems Jakarta is firmly on the sex tourism radar and it is distorting the quality of bottom of the market.

I even mentioned to her that we can hang out later. Then I asked her digits, which she gave promptly.

Later while chatting, she asked me where do I stay. I gave her the area name to which she said, its bit far from her place. I told her I can compensate taxi fare. Then she started quoting 1 M, I straightaway countered with 500 K and then later upped to 600 K at the max. But it didn't pan out. Hope this clears the curiosity (wink).

Let her take that step into explicit wh0redom of asking for money for sex, rather than for just a very expensive taxi ride, without any help from us.

Tipping is normal and expected, the cut the girl gets from the regular fee is promptly taxed back off her at the end of the month tally up as part of the debt trap. If exceptional / you want to see her again then you can give a bit more, given the number of Singapore / Malay chinese who go to Jakrta and spend up you're not distorting any market bu tipping more, just upsetting grouchy pensioners trying to clutch every nickel and dime.

They will almost always pass you your change back if you pay cash, and 365 k usually means 35 k in change from large notes. So up to you what you do with it. I usually promptly pass it to mama with a smile (its $2. TWO FUCKING DOLLARS FFS!) as that tends to help the general vibe. But the couple of times mama is a right cow I've pointedly pocketed the change in front of her.

However, Blok M is lively with its mall, food stalls, coffee and juice shops, massage spots, outdoor music, and movie theatres, plenty of fish. It almost reminded me of being in Latin America. On my last trip, even though I had a hotel in Central Jakarta, I booked a room in Blok M for two nights over the weekend (Hotel M, Sotis Falatehan) just to enjoy the local vibe in and around the area. If you want to go north, you can take the Metro from Blok M to Mangga Besar and then Grab visit the bars.
