Landed at T3 recently. Went outside looking for a yellow taxi and didn't see any. Asked one of the expensive 'coupon' taxi touts and he said: "They are off airport now sir". I see, and where would that be? "I don't know". I found a security guard and asked, and got the same answer. I didn't see any regular white taxis and asked the guard where they were (thinking there was a line of passengers waiting somewhere for the next inbound white taxi): "Yellow and white is off airport sir. No more. You get a grab. Go that way". He pointed towards Bay 13-14. As I walked that direction, there were oodles of large Grab displays, with arrows pointing the way. Made my way inside, then to an inside parking garage. Dozens of Grab taxis picking up, a hundred people waiting, and a booth to book one for you. There was a line at the booth so I walked back outside and was accosted by a coupon tout. I asked how much for a ride in her van to Knightsbridge. "Makati? 440 pesos sir". Wow, so cheap. "Yes like taxis before". Previously typically 1200-1500. I grabbed a coupon and jumped in. Nice driver and pleasant chat on the ride. He explained that the coupon taxis lowered their prices when the white and yellow taxis were banished. Handed him p500 after the ride and everyone was happy.

The yellow taxis replacing the white taxis were supposed to eliminate some of the driver scams, and I think they did. The coupon vans replacing all the taxis, especially with lowered reasonable prices, with the price known in advance, might have accomplished it.

Possibly I missed the discussion on the board here previously, but there are no more white or yellow taxis at T3. Grab and coupon taxi's have the market. Is it like that at T1-2-3?

I'm glad they are gone, I wish the same for many airports, fucking scammers. I even been quoted 1 k between terminals, it depends how desperate you are, they smell that even if you're not showing it.

The worst scam I witnessed many years ago was in Panama City airport in Panama of course, actually it's pure robbery not really a scam, I read about it, and I saw it happened in front of my eyes to some unlucky family: the driver opens the trunk without stepping out, you put the luggage in, you close the trunk and he takes off with your belongings, and you're left "butt naked" looking for police, or help or whatever. I seen so many stupid things happening in my life, from robberies, to dropping the bag in water, or leaving it behind, or being stolen by monkeys or raccoons, and therefore my passport and my cards and money always stays on my body. Cannot even imagine being left butt naked in a foreign country as soon as you arrive.

The yellow taxi drivers I don't recall attempting anything.

That said, while I think overall the cheaper and up-front cost amount of the current coupon taxis is a better system, I found myself so accustomed to finding regular white and yellow taxis in the past 20 years that I kept walking around trying to locate them. Possibly a Freudian holdover of: The devil you know is better than the devil you don't?

No waiting they give you the price up front. Your driver is right there and walks you to the taxi and off you go. I went from there to Seda Hotel in BGC and the rate was 510.

On my last trip I stopped to ask and was told 30 minute wait for the next taxi.

No need to book someone from an online service. Just walk out of the hotel to P. Burgos and then turn left or right and enter a bar.
