Most experienced members recommend an ATM card with a financial services firm that allows a certain amount of withdrawals every month anywhere in the world. A Schwab ATM card gets mentioned often for this purpose. Schwab's interchange system gives a good rate of exchange.

This is redundant for most members, but when the Brazilian ATM machine asks if you want Reais to be charged or Reais converted into your local currency always opt for strictly Reais. The ATM system will hammer you on the conversion rate.

There are also guys who like to deal with cash. They generally find foreign exchange stores in Sao Paulo that often decent rates. However, it does pay to follow where members are going to exchange cash.

Hi all. Been reading this SP forum for a while and recently officially started a membership. Great insight and discussion which was useful for my first visit a few weeks back, albeit was only a passing trip. Still managed 2 great nights in Scandello though.

You transfer money on it and you can use it with the Brasilian ATM. There is a virtual and a physical card, both are free when you create an account. The change rate is the one one on the market at the moment of the transaction. You can use it to pay from your cell phone if you put it in your ewallet as a payment method.

Currently Wise pays 5. 075 for a dollar, and on the market I see it as 5. 08. There are some fees, but I've done the math, and even with fees on the transfer and at the ATM, the change rate makes it a lot better option than changing the money in a casa de cambio or with my regular ATM card. You can also secure the app from the website in case someone snatch your cellphone. Its also less dangerous than flashing all your money in public.

In like 5 seconds it will send your money to your girl or whomever. Very very low fees and market exchange rate. Truly amazing. High recommend on that feature.

Never a request for more/propina. Not sure why the difference.

Terma Solarium for example strictly enforces (based on what I was told) requests for any tips (extra money) over the fixed service cost and as a result I never had any girls ask for extra money. All the services a girl agrees there is part of the fixed price. I never had request for extra money for anal at Terma 4 x4 until my last trip a couple of years ago. I guess some gringos must have started paying them, so naturally girls have started throwing such requests at lots of gringos, if not all gringos.

#1 discourages girls getting ideas of leaving early or leave doing nothing. Most girls do what was agreed, but some try to do as less as possible if you prepay.

I have cancelled multiple deals at Casarao after existing the club and before getting into Uber because girls insisted on prepayment even though they agreed to get the payment after. I did the same at Scandallo during checkout.

#2 is my approach, but some guys believe in chemistry and their ability to charm a hooker to deliver all they desire without explicit talk about their service expectations. I guess both approaches have their pros and cons.

All bets are off if you catch a real scammer, unfortunately. There is much less chance of picking up total scammer at high-end places like Scandallo because girls are not stupid enough to jeopardize the high earnings, but the changes increase as you go down to lower end places.

Is it safe for me to pay the girls with a schwab debit card at Scandallo, Gauguin, & Casarao or other places?

Or should I take cash in Reals with me?
