I'd just walk, arm-in-arm with my date and chat with her all the way to the elevator. I got some stares but that's it. The bar pickups worked O.K. for me. I pulled from Zhivago's (now Juan Pablo), Casanova, and Copacabana, and I really don't think you need primo Spanish to do it. But these were high priced, especially Casanova and Copacabana.

As to escorts, there are a few agencies that are legitimate and have real photos of the girls. Most are bait and switch. My trip proved busier than expected. So little opportunity even for order in, since hotel was packed with delegates to meeting.

I went to the Antique district on Sat afternoon to look at things with local friend. After that, I chose to wander and realized I was close to Chapinero.

After orientating with the map, I picked out Abejita's at Calle 63, thinking it might link to abejitas dot com. Not the case, but did Ok even if the place was a dive.

Took some time to find since the place is a doorway entrance labeled 63: 16A-42, next to a chicken shop on the corner of Calle 63 and Cra 16A. See pictures - poor quality but might help someone. The stairs go up and left so the place is above the shop on the corner.

Arrived around 5pm. Got beer. Shown 4 girls. All ok. 2 7+s. Picked Camilla - 19 yo from Bogota. Cute face, shoulder length brunette hair, dark coffee colored eyes - classic Colombian in my view. Altura 168cm, breasts prob 36 or so. Limited English but very personable. I was at the Tequendama in March. First, I was unimpressed with the accomodations. It's not a $150 a night hotel. Second, I got stopped trying to take a chica back and paid something ridiculous like $35. The elevators are separated from the lobby by double doors, and there is a security guard at said doors. In my instance, the security guard was female. No good.

Stay at the Embassy Suites! They rock.

Yes I recommend this hotel. If you're not looking for low-end stuff, the Embassy Suites is the best hotel you could stay at. Pretty much all other high-end BOG hotels officially have a guest fee. The Embassy Suites does not. In fact, I regularly take back 2 at a time and they have no problems. They just holds the girls' IDs.

Embassy Suites is not cheap. About $130-$150. But I think it's worth it. The rooms are spacious, and they all have flat screens and large, nice beds.

It's in Chapinero, which has some low-end action and is near Santa Fe. I like it because it's between the northern clubs and Santa Fe.

I'm trying to eliminate alcohol, and I'm also planning to go to Colombia in a couple of weeks.

I mainly monger in Santa Fe. In some place like Las Paisas when you walk in the door they literally ask you "Would you like an Agulia, or a Costeña?" Is it socially acceptable and/or even possible to get something without alcohol in a bar in Colombia?

How about some places like Whiskeria 49? There are these places like this all over Colombia where they only serve liquor and not even beer. Is it possible to go into these places without having alcohol.

Any ideas guys?

Tequendama was a top notch hotel back in the fifties and sixties. The building is owned by the colombian military, I found out.

No wonder it has never been really revamped (it is rented for operation to different chains, such as Intercontinental, back in the better days, and now to Crowne).

This ownership, and the fact that some congresspeople live nearby, in Residencias Tequendama (rental apartments) also explain why security is always very tight around its premises.

Not a good place for mongering, IMHO.

I had someone try to pick my pocket in santa fe, near avenida 19 on K 15 or 16. The prostitutes standing on the sidewalk helped me pick up the contents of my pocket from the sidewalk - the thief had briefly brushed near me about 3 minutes before and I should have been more on guard instead of looking for a diamond ***** among the gorditas. I lost 10k pesos and recovered the rest of my money and stuff from the sidewalk.

Walking back toward Calle 22, I was stopped by the poilice, along with some other guys. One of the prostitutes said "you don't have to frisk him, he is a gringo", but they did anyway, and looked at the copy of my passport. (Of course she said this in Spanish, not English.) The senior police oficer told me it was not safe for me to walk south of Calle 22, even in the afternoon like this. I should stay in the regular red light district (calle 22 to 24).

One night I took a taxi to Paisa club across the street from Atunes on K16a. The doorman at Atunes, who I am friendly with, told me to try Paise or Fevre across the street after Atunes closes at 8pm, but avoid the other places and all the ones on the same side of the street as Atunes.

As soon as I entered the door, I ran into a girl that I have known pretty well in St Maarten (caribbean). We talked and then went next door outside to buy food for her and her 2 friends. The bill came to 11k, less than a single bear at some places. As we went back, she decided it was too dangerous for me in that neighborhood at night and gave me her cell# and put me into a taxi.

I have given up on the casas in Santa Fe. There are lots of cute girls, but the knock after 15 minutes is a big turnoff. Now I just collect phone numbers and have them come to my room or we go to a "motel".

The will send you up to the first or second floor where a female attendant/cleaner will asign you a nice room with flat screen tv, cable tv, king bed, big bathroom).. She takes the fee of 28k, she puts the change in a passthru box, with the receipt, which you keep and turn in as you leave. I stayed in one for 3 hours. don't know what the max time is.

I was staying at a youth hostel in La Candalaria because it was convenient to my reason for being in Bogota and a private room was only 40k. everyone speaks english in these places and the clients are mainly healthy and horny young backpackers, male and female. I didn't score with any of the girls, but if you were under 40 and chevere and interesting it would probably not be too hard. You can get to the Santa Fe red light district on the D90 transmilenio bus and return on the J74 bus.

I brought an ordinary girl back to the hostel to make dinner together in the shared kitchen, have a drink in the social area, and make out in my private room. I also had two working girls visit me, in discreet clothes, for sessions in my room - no problem. Althought the local staff may wonder how I know so many local girls.

One observation on colombianas and privacy/prudery. The second or third time, my non-pro girl was willing to strip down to just her jeans and strip me naked and kiss me passionately and give me a handjob and eventually let me go down on her through her jeans, but she would not do more than that with people talking and walking by outsdide the opaque window and going in and out of the common bathroom that was right next to my door. I have observed many siimilar attacks of timidity/privacy on the part of colombianas, pro and non-pro. Most of them girls who work in St Maarten and the other islands won't use the toilet without closing the door. This is after doing some seriously intimate things like sit on your face and having you lick their asshole. Interestingly, they will usually clean themselves up in the bathroom without closing the door. Perhaps this is because they HAVE to do that, but they don't trust you with their possessions while the door is closed (they can usually wait to later to use the toilet). The reason I know about the door closing for the toilet is that I became friendly with many of them through repeat business and gained their confidence. With some,when they became my "novias" they would shut the bathroom door to clean their pussies!

When I take Colombianas to the nude beach in St Maarten (Orient bay) some may wear pretty skimpy bathing suits, but only 1 was willing to sunbath topless even though there are topless european women all around. And only 1 calena who had lived in Italy for over a year walked topless down to the nude part of the beach and then suggested that we both shed our bottoms, which we did (a first for me).
