I think the place with the small walking bridge was Ilha dos Pescadores. It was very close to Nuth. It is no longer in business.

Okay keeping it real, I would say the Lapa street party is where it's at now for a music scene with civilians.

I remember Nuth. Fun place, and there were a couple other good clubs out there when you wanted to mix it up and take a break from Help and the Termas.

Regarding Nuth and Ilha does Pescadores, two very different places. As RioBob wrote, Nuth closed at least 5 years ago, a upperclass club popular even on Sundays (or Mondays) when it was the night for horny older women to go there. Ilha dos Pescadores, located on a small island in one of the mini-lakes, had a much more simple and fun clientel IMO. It used to be extremely popular on Thursdays in the nineties. I don't know if it still exist.

I think most of the old clubs are long gone. Baronetti, Banana Café, Melt, People, Trash, Mariuzinn, Gipsy, Scala, Plataforma and the afterwork-clubs in Centro. No worries as there always pop-up new clubs.

I absolutely love going to the clubs in Rio.

Sou Nunca, Pink Elephant, Radar, Red (Niteroi), Club 00, Rei de Bacalhau, Vitrinni Lounge, Castelo Das Pedras, Via Show, Olimpio, 40 Grau. So many amazing places to go dancing, drinking and trying to hit on the local girls.

In fact, one of the best ways I could get "free dates" with terma girls was asking them where they were from. When they would tell me, I would rattle off clubs in their area and they would be shocked that I had been there. They would laugh and ask "What the fuck were you doing in Duque de Caxias (Caxias 18) or some baile funk club deep in the hood?

That's the purpose of a termas. The entrada (cover charge) is not a lot. I think Solarium charges 40 reais ($7. 50). Last week, it looks like Solarium even had a gratis promotion on their Facebook page.

You're on a first-time vacation. You don't have to take one for the team and find new termas. Just go to the tried and true. Solarium, 65, Monte Carlo. You will likely want to revisit one or two a second time. I have gone into the top termas with four or five guys and we would almost always all find someone to our liking. Hell, we rarely desired the same girl. One buddy wanted slim blondes. Another wanted busty girls. I wanted morenas with nice asses.

Barring any major changes on the COVID front, it sounds like the termas hostesses are back at work. You might have read about 4 x4 (closed due to a fire). It was a 40 Reais discount if you showed them the Facebook promotion. Other recent promotions applied 40 reais of the entrance fee towards consumption.

I'm sure most everyone will agree that it is still worth $20 to visit Solarium at least once. If you don't think of it as in and out, but rather as entertainment most vacationers gladly pay the entrance fee.
