Low budget Guadalajara. Part 1
I just returned from 2 weeks in Guadalajara. My report is not going to be of much value to many of you because my methods differ from most men who post here.
I stayed at the Hotel Casino Plaza, located on the western fringes of the city's historical district. It's located within short walking distance of the Juarez subway station, which provides access to 2 of GDL's 3 subway lines. The room was clean, comfortable, well-maintained, had plenty of hot water, and had the best hotel air conditioning system I've seen in years. The only complaints were the antique showerhead and the hollow-core entry door which allowed an excessive amount of hallway noise on rare occasions. Price was $30/ night and I would definitely stay there again.
I like daytime entertainment as I wake up at 6 am and am in bed by 9:30 pm. My method is to find a day-drinking bar with hostesses who will sit with me (ficheras) and give me the attention I deserve. If conversations indicate there are no onsite ladies available for "service", after a few beers I leave the bar and roam the streetwalker areas to find a suitable companion to take to a local short-time hotel.
I accept the fact that many of the bars are germ-ridden shitholes with disgusting bathrooms and that most of the women are generally a combination of fat, plain-looking, or well past their expiration dates. I don't need perfection; I want enthusiastic women with good attitudes who delude me into thinking I'm a handsome man.
My knowledge of Spanish is limited to around 50 words. Thank God for Google Translate, as I was able to slowly and tediously have conversations with the bar girls.
The only convenient day-drinking bars I found were in two places in the Historical District. One area is on and around Calle Aguafria to the south of Parque Morelos. The other is on the east side of Avenida Independencia Sur between Calle Valentin Gomez Farias and Calle Federico Medrano.
There are at least 5 fichera bars along Independencia Sur. From north to south, they are Bar Tejas, El Bohemio De Calzada, Rio Colorado, Bar Salon Superior Sonoro Tropical, and Bar Arandas.
I never patronized Bar Arandas because it's pretty dead during the early evening. The other four bars open with fichera girls at around noon and close between 10 pm and midnight. All the fichera girls are clothed in sexy attire and most wear CFM shoes. Customer beers (355 ML) run between 22-26 pesos, while the smaller ladies' drinks (195 ML) are 80 pesos.
Only two of the bars have upstairs "privado" rooms: El Bohemio De Calzada and Rio Colorado. One young chubbette was really keen on getting me upstairs, and said her rate was 500 pesos, but would be reduced to 400 pesos if I bought her 4 drinks. I did not inquire about the additional cost of the room as I declined her offer.
The only lady I "dated" from those bars was a relatively cute, sexy blonde from El Bohemio with a ginormous chest. I was too tired to pull the trigger that night, but she then offered to meet me before work the next day for 600 pesos (yeah, I paid the gringo price). She whispered the offer right after removing her active tongue from my mouth and while rubbing my cock through my pants, so how could I say no?
We agreed to meet at an arranged spot at 4 pm and amazingly she was there. Short time hotel was 140 pesos, and I tipped her 50. Service was pretty darned good, a lot better than the lackluster performances from the sexy-dressed 500 pesos streetwalkers across the way on Calle Huerto.
El Bohemio is exclusively for guys seeking company, while Rio Colorado seems to attract a few non-prostitutes as customers. One night two gordas waved me over to their table and we spent an hour talking and dancing, with no pretext of naughty activities. Another night, a lone wolf sat drinking by herself and casting glances my way, so I brazenly joined her table. 5 minutes after buying her a 22 peso Tecate beer, she was hugging me, blowing in my ear, and had taken her boobs out of her bra for me to examine. The privado room manager stopped by our table holding a pack of condoms and asked if we wanted to go upstairs, but she declined. Some girls just want to have fun, not get poked. No complaints from me as getting to grope a 27 year old top-heavy gal was enough to make my day.
The other two bars (Bar Tejas and Bar Salon Superior Sonoro Tropical) were decent-enough places and I had fun chatting up the ficheras, but there was no indication of any carnal naughtiness being available. My rule is 2 beers for me, 2 fichera drinks for the tablemate, and if no action is likely I head to the next bar.
My daily routine was 3 beers for me, 3 fichera drinks for my companion, plus tip costs around 330 pesos, or $17. Short-time with a moderately-attractive streetwalker in the Calle Aguafria area costs 300 pesos, with 70 pesos for the disgusting short-time rooms at a private lodge next to the El Cabrito dance hall on Calle Independencia, for a total of $19. Add 280 pesos ($14) for one of the beautiful streetwalkers plus higher room charge in the Calle Huerto area.
$36 would get me a slight beer buzz, one hour of conversation with a congenial hostess, and 20 minutes of streetwalker intercourse, which varied from cadaver-like to volcanic eruption, depending on the girl. Fits nicely within my budget.
Excellent posts will visit Bohemio blond and report
Day-of-flight rapid antigen tests are advertised as available at the GDL airport for 450 pesos. But being a nervous guy, I wanted to know my Covid status well in advance of my fight, so I took some time searching for options in the city.
The front desk of my hotel had flyers for Laboratorio Tolsa, advertising rapid antigen tests for 1,000 pesos and PCR tests for 3,100 pesos.
Certain El Chopo diagnostic labs conduct rapid tests for 950 pesos, and I was planning on visiting one of them.
While on an early morning walk in the Americana district, I came across a clinic called "Santa Sofia Clinica Integral" which had signs up indicating they conduct tests. Their price was a mere 270 pesos, with results available the next morning. I was attended to by a medical assistant who spoke very good English and walked me through filling out the forms. Very good service.
I took the test at 8:30 am and the results were in my email at 7 pm that night.
Av. Ignacio L. Vallarta 1458, Col Americana, Lafayette, 44600 Guadalajara.
Thank you so much for your reports regarding economical rapid testing as well as targeting the budget conscious traveler. I will provide additional reports about the Bohemio blond etc. I would also enjoy just having fun as you did with company that has no interest in finishing. A good attitude is very important to me as well. Again, thank you for addressing this market segment as it is my tendency even after I get back on my feet fiscally.
