Undisputed team leaders in Charlotte at the time were Alonzo Mourning (Hall of Fame, 7 times All Star and twice defensive player of the year) and Larry Johnson (2 times All Star). Muggsy Bogues didn't get selected in any All Star game, never mind to make it in the NBA Hall of Fame. He was a decent player, he was a starter for a while, but he was never the best player on any team in the NBA. Bringing up Messi or Giresse is completely irrelevant, different sport and different people. I agree that short people are normally better at gymnastics.

I watched Tyrone "Muggsy" Bogues play throughout his entire college career, and then his move on to the pros, which was indeed an incredible feat for somebody of his stature. But, here's the truth of the matter. He was indeed a leading player at Wake Forest University, and that's what helped him to make the giant leap to the professional level. But, he absolutely was not a team leader in the National Basketball Association over the course of his career in terms of being star producer on the court. No, his main claim to fame came from being essentially an oddity to the game, along with Manute Bol who was actually his teammate at one time, and one of the tallest men to ever play in the NBA. Bogues had skills, and was an incredible talent for being only 5'3". However, his impact and leadership in the NBA was nothing compared to what he did at the high school and then the university level of the game. I know this to be true.
