Rgbburn, thanks for the honesty and willing to share with all of us. I'm sorry for the pain this must have caused you, and I wish you could disseminate this to every board on the Internet on which guys post who are committed to ladies they met on the Internet. I belong to another (non sex) board that involves posts from guys planning to move and/or retire here. Many of them are coming to marry women that they've never met, and they believe none of the warnings that those of us to live here send them. The argument is always the same: "Yes, but this one is different." They never listen. Maybe reading the recap of your story might shock some of them into rationality.
I've now been here for more than five years, and I've seen it all. It's terribly unfortunate that stories like yours are not uncommon. Thankfully, you did not get as far as some of the guys, who walk off the plane, besotted with the idea that someone half their age loves them and will screw them to death, and promptly get married.

Thanks for posting your story. I think everyone here should see the real lesson; although rgbburn feels badly, he came out the best.
Every guy who sat at home and sent money, who never got off his @ss to come to the Philippines, got taken.
By not making excuses, and actually taking action to travel to the PI, rgbburn came off better than than the armchair fantasizers.
I think a key to measuring a woman's character is to look at her friends and family. What kind of people are they? Although nothing in life is sure, I think it helps to take the focus off of her and to look at those around her.
My girlfriend and I would like to spend a month living on the beach somewhere. We would also like a bisexual girl or two to live with us to share our fantasy of having a harem to have fun with. A non-stop feast of pleasure with good food, good wine and great sex.

Hello All- I've been a member on here for nearly a year, and have found the boards to be very informative. By nature, I'm not so much a mongerer as a traveler, but I find the quality of information to be far superior on here.
My question and the reason I'm posting is this: I'm a 34, American living in Japan. I'm single, in decent shape and make a fair income. I've been to PI once last August for a few weeks, and completely loved it and I'm going back in late Feb/Early March again. I'm interested in meeting a Pinay on one of these trips, someone that could be family material someday. So, I'm looking for advice on where I should go location wise, and any tactics that can help weed out the bad ones. I've tried meeting people online prior (DIA) and have had the same experience as most on here. I noticed quite a bit of ptential at the various malls, but seems everyone thought I was there to monger. Or "ohh you must have a girlfriend" etc. So what should I do and where should I go folks?
I'll be in country for 2 weeks this time, and am planning on hitting Bora again maybe and perhaps Palawan but haven't firmed anything up yet.

Gents, say it with me: IF YOU HAVEN'T MET/SLEPT WITH HER, DON'T SEND HER MONEY. Of all the men that I'm aware that she was scamming (at least 7 I've emailed or IM'ed), I was the only one who had spent time with her, and the only one who had been to RP (in my case several times) at all. One of those 7 is also a member of this board (we have since spoken on the IM). These gents have shared emails and IM's directly with me, and they have forwarded the scamming girl's emails and IM's to me. A very clear pattern began to show up in her communications with all of them (not just excuses for needing money), and after she got caught I asked her about this pattern and she confirmed it. The pattern was this: She wants man to come meet her, when he starts looking for airline tickets she asks for money. He sends. He tells her an approximate month/week for visit, she says yes, he reserves/buys ticket. As date approaches, she finds excuse she can't make it at that time (friend in Butuan is getting married that week and she's maid of honor, she's promised aunt in Cebu province to travel there to take care of her small son so aunt can go look for work, etc.). Can he postpone? She knows after a few of these how difficult it is to re-arrange vacation time. This is always followed by more requests for money, after all a girl has needs. This puts him off for another month or two or more, she's stringing him along. She said eventually they drop her and look elsewhere, and she will find another. She's only with them 6-8-10 months; its a clear pattern.
The only other man that she seems to have wanted to clearly meet (briefly) was the one who had not sent her a penny!! She was trying to get me there at Xmas desperately (from Easter), and I sent her only small amounts on 2 occasions ($30, $50). Don't you think it interesting, that the more money the men sent, the more often, the less she wanted to meet them? This is the lesson? If you find yourself regularly loading the phone or sending $, she sees you as an ATM. DONT send it and if she's still talking, you, you are part of her life.
Along the same line, in emailing the man mentioned above who never sent her money, he has sent me some interesting rules he uses in dealing with women he's met online. Here is one of his rules that seems good advice. Several men on this board have said that they dont know what to say when a woman asks for money, especially early in the relationship, only a few chats in. The rule is simple:
If she asks for money, break the relationship immeadiately. Never speak to her again. Or... to head it off, tell her that you dont send money to someone you have not spent time with in person, and if she asks again, you'll break the relationship completely. Maybe even explain the cultural difference; in our culture when a woman we dont personally know in real life asks for money, we view her as a prostitute, and you don't want that kind of relationship (does she?).
I know this is harsh, but it eliminates scammers. If she wants a relationship, she'll persue it. If she drops offline, she's scamming. There are soooooooooo many other women out there.....

With no offence (and you paid alraedy in real for having been fooled, not meaning you are a fool), it looks to me that despite warning, facts, proofs, there is still some sort of affection to this money taker.

I had purchased my tickets once and the excuses started coming as to why she could not hook up. Having spent the money on tickets and bouncing my work schedule around, it would have been too much trouble to reschedule. No problem. I went anyway without any plans whatsoever and only a hotel reservation near LA Cafe. Did some girls from LA Cafe over a couple of days while I adjusted to the time change. Found one that I liked who liked me and we took off to the beach for a week. End of story. Another great trip.
Lesson learned. There is far too much willing poontang there to cancel a trip over one girl.

Whats wrong with malls? Great place IMHO. The country is FILLED with wife material. Just circulate :) Nothing wrong with dating sites either. But the rules of engagement so to speak for those (when youre looking for wife material) is not subject for THIS board.
