Field Report IV

The City.

Cartagena is a wonderful city with a lot of history. It is really small as there is only mainly three parts of the city. Laguito, Bocogrande and the Old City. It is really geared to tourist. People from all over Colombia and South America Vacation there. I never feared or was scared about my safety. There are tons of restaurants and shops. As for food, I was never really disappointed. It’s pretty much the same no matter where you eat. You have your carne (beef), pollo (chicken)and pescado (fish). It usually comes with French fries, rice and salad. A big thing out there in Cartagena is their COCO rice. Which I didn’t care for. It’s rice with coco powder I believe. Some of the good restaurants that I recommend is the "Riquisimo" for BBQ (steaks) and "El Muelle" for seafood. In Cartagena you will find cheap to expensive food so no matter what your budget is. There is something to fit your needs. Oh. They do have one fast food place. McDonalds! Of course I didn’t visit there. Also I visit the Old city to "Plaza Santa Domingo. " Very good restaurants are present there. Inside and outside seatings are there. Good place to people watch. One thing I have learned on my trip. Even though I didn’t experience any problems. Is that Spanish speaking is a must. If you are able to speak Spanish. Your trip will be so much more enjoyable. Very few locals speak English. And most of the girls do not speak English or very little. Kind of weird because they are taught English in school and is a requirement. So my next trip. I am currently signed up to take Spanish classes. Do the same fellows for all you non speaking Spanish people. It is a must if you want to have more fun.

Be careful and tell Tony No and give him what you think you owe. One thing that I hated about going to the beach was all the sales people and the massage girls. A damn pain in the ass are the massage girls. Gentlemen keep your shirt on if you don’t want to get bothered. As soon as you take your shirt off. They will jump on you and start giving you a massage. Keep in mind that they are not attractive at all! You tell them no, no, no and they will cont. To massage. I said whatever if she wants to give me a free massage then give it. Do not have this thought because after they are done or you make them stop. You are expected to pay 30KCOP! My ass! So make sure they don’t start at all because even if they don’t finish they will make you pay! Ok. More on Tony. The two times I went to the beach and sat in Tony’s section. He found me both times group of girls. The two different group of girls had the same story. They were all from Medellin. All college students. Between the ages of 20-23, 24. Hot! And were in town for anywhere from 2 weeks to a month/ for vacation and to make extra money for school etc. It was so cool talking with just college girls on vacation trying to make extra money. They were so real and down to earth. Basically the girls will pay Tony 20KCOP if they meet a guy and leave. You can tip Tony if you want. The girls typically want about 100K to 120Kcop. I defiantely had GFE with the college girls as well. Treat them right and your mileage will go far! I even had a 3some one day with group of girls. Young. Beautiful. Smart. College girls. What more can you ask! So if you don’t mind paying the overpriced chair and tent and drink fees. Hit up Tony! He will find you some College girls!

You just described the tourist zone. There is much more to the city of Cartagena. CTG has around 1 million people and is the 4th largest city in Colombia.

There is a soccer stadium and bull ring along the avenida. Further out, there is a huge shopping center and an Exito across the street. The bus terminal is further out yet. Some of the other parts of town are very dangerous-the mercado, the area north of la avenida, and la Popa.

It is probably best for most to stay in the tourist zone.

I made my first trip to Cartagena about two weeks ago and spent 4 days in the area. I flew over on Avianca Airlines and they offered me a first class upgrade for $200 so I splurged a little and went for it. I knew I was in trouble when I fell in love with the flight attendant. She was smiling and pretty and, I might be crazy, but I think checking me out. I still wish I would have cut into her and tried to set something up. Stranger things have happened.

I’ve been all over the Caribbean including the DR, Mexico, and Canada but none of them compared to this. The DR was pretty close as far as the girls went but the neither the restaurants or the city was close. This city, as well as its women, was beautiful. My Spanish is limited but I went down with a buddy who speaks fluently and who has been there many times before. This was extremely helpful because unlike the DR, there is very little English spoken there. We rented a couple apartments in El Laguito for about $50 per night and they were girl friendly, air conditioned, clean, and had ocean views. I stayed in the tourist areas and at no time felt the city was dangerous. The touts were a pain, the beaches weren’t very pretty, you had to watch out for the cab drivers, and damn it was hot, but that’s the only negative parts of the experience. The old part of the walled city was great. I wish I could remember the name of a restaurant that was so good I went back twice. It had a big steer out by the front door. If any of you know the name please let me know.

There were girls everywhere. The first night in town I went to the famous LDV. I can’t be 100% sure but I think I slept with Shakira ;). If it wasn't her she was almost as sexy. I paid 150,000 pesos for a 2 hours GFE experience. She, like every girl I spent time, with was both warm and pretty. I guess the BBBJ and GFE are standard because all 5 of the girls I was with on this trip provided both. On my second day I picked up one of the SG's right on the steps of the apartment I was renting. For 60,000 pesos she provided great service and a nice massage in between sessions. That night I hit some clubs in old town but ended up taking one out of LDV.

There doesn’t seem to be a lot of daytime action. Maybe because it’s so hot but every thing seems too come alive at night, mostly late night. The clubs really don’t start until after midnight. Even the local SW stroll, Ave San Martin, walking distance from where we were staying, didn’t have anything going on until late. I did take one off that Ave and for about 70,000 pesos had a good experience.

Anyway to sum it up I had a great time. I will be back and will certainly try other Columbian Cities. I am slowly working my way to Brazil and Argentina.

for those of us who are looking for a place to compile all the info on daytime action in Cartagena, I'm submitting this post.

It appears that the only luck (assuming one doesn't have tel. no's already), to find chicas during the day is on the beach near Hotel Dann? And/or to seek out this Tony fella on the beach?

But seriously, are there obvious working girls on the beach areas? Do they congregate near the hotel entrances? Are there any daytime massage places?

To start, I read there is a massage place in Brussellas (anyone: where's brusellas?), it's called Masajes Rocio, located on Calle Benjamin Herrera, # 24-34, (price range COP30K - 120K)

The girls on the beach are pretty obvious, and I am willing to say 95+ percent of them are on the beach in Bocagrande, specifically Playa Hollywood. As I stated in my posts, if you go in front of the Torre Centauro apartments in Laguito, which is a beachfront property, one block from the Hyatt Hotel in Laguito, you will run into 4-5 beautiful girls from 2:30 until 7 or so, as they pass by there several times during this time period. You can also checkout the internet cafe, that faces the street at the bottom of the Hotel Conquistador, and is located across the street from Torre Centauro, as these girls are always going in there to use the internet, and to use the phone.

As far as the massage parlour scene goes, I cannot answer that for you, as that is not my thing.

There are women everywhere, all you have to do is start a conversation with him. My other advice to you is set up some dates if you go to the discos for the following day. To answer your question about the girls hanging out around hotel entrances the answer is no.

Tony 1 is probably the most active. Tony 2 or any guy who rents carpas and chairs on the beach can find girls for you.

Working girls cannot be very obvious because there is a law against street solicitation. And that law is enforced.

The porteros in your building are another good source of leads. Most taxi drivers can get girls as well.

It was my experience Tom33, that it was obvious on the beach what girls were on the job, infact Carolina, who I mentioned in my field report from LDV had a nude pic she carried with her on the beach as she was not dressed in beachwear. My friend and I had several girls approach us while at the beach, as soon as we made eye contact with them. I believe it was ISG member Jacque, who was in Cartagena 2 weeks ago, who made a previous post about this as well, or it might have been in a p.m he sent to me. In addition, several girls approached us on the street through eye contact in passing, or by making a comment.

As I mentioned in my post to Straddler, girls are everywhere, and there is no problem with locating daytime action if you want it. Your information about asking taxi's, porteros, is a excellent suggestion.

I am a Cartagena veteran. Those canadian guys keep driving up the price of the chicas. Only capton kek is fair he only gives them 50, 000 pesos and they love his 2 ft long shmuck! Stop overpaying some of us are retired and can't pay 150, 000 let's try to drive the price down to were it should be.

Go browns![/QUOTE]I am a Canadian and have probably made more trips to Cartagena than you, and have never once met a fellow Canadian down there. I also guarantee that I pay less than the vast majority of the guys that visit Cartagena.

When I say they cannot be very obvious, I don't mean that they run from you. They are trying to solicit business after all. Of course they make eye contact and come up to speak with you. The point is that they have to be subtle. One of the codes is, "A donde va?" "Where are you going?" They do not holler, "Suckee, fuckee!!!"

The vast majority of the tourist income for CTG comes from Colombian families. They do not like to see open solicitation on the streets. Have you ever seen street girls dive behind parked cars when a police car drives by at night? I have.

Is this the same girl ?

Anyone ever met this Carolina in the photo ??

She works at LDV in Cartagena and also in Panama on occasion.

I own a apartment in Cartagena. I have been going down to Colombia for the last 15 years. I think devoman must not be a very freindly person not to have met a fellow canadian down there ever. Also my momma told me when I was young never make a guarantee unless you can back it up. Devoman I guarantee you I pay less than you! Next time you go to ldv ask Aldo who is screwy louie? Come over and introduce yourselve and I will buy you a drink and teach you the ropes kid. Remember caption kek is the only canadian who year after year keeps the prices low.
