Yours is a newbie mistake. In PHI it helps to be firm in your dealings without worrying about your good persona image. What do you care if they think otherwise?
Just think we are going there to be serviced, not to sit and look pretty with girls. They are not your girlfriends. All tipping equates with service. If you take the girl out and she serves you well a tip is in order.

i agree with av and sammon, but there is another angle.

do you have a good time with the gals, maybe feel them up, and then tip the waitress, but not the gals you are with? that doesn't really make sense does it?

if you are like me, you often get a pile of change after you pay your bill. if the gal sitting next to me has been especially attentive ( interpret that anyway you want...) i'll peel off a bill for her rather than leaving it for the waitress.

on the other hand, anyone who asks for a tip probably doesn't deserve one.

If the girls are sitting with me and I am happy and they don't push for drinks then I will tip them. They get 100% of the tip where as the overpriced drinks they get little of that.

Then again I know a few girls that work Burgos and I usually avoid it, but when I do go, I usually end up seeing girls I've been with outside of work (friends of friends), so I'll buy a few drinks and tip them up. I usually know their story, how many sponsors / bf's they have, number of kids at home, number of family living with them, etc. And hey they do come over when they are called to avoid the BF issues so I don't mind too much to go there and tip once in a while.

I've once stayed at the hotel and would like to do so again. Is LA Cafe far away? I've only ever gone between the airport and Makati. I see from time to time, that folks have made recommendations of specific girls in the Makati area. I'd be very interested in such recommendations.

Man, don't let a taxi ride stop you from going to LA Cafe or anywhere else in Manila if you are scared of getting ripped off. Sometimes the ride can be long if you hit a heavy commute time like 45 minutes. But for late hours it's not bad and the ride is probably somewhere from 130-180 pesos one way. Don't take a taxi sitting and waiting. Get one that is moving or dropping someone off. Don't take a taxi right in front of a place like LA Cafe as the hands will start coming out for a fee and the taxi might not use the meter. Make sure he uses the meter.

I haven't stayed there myself but I've walked past it a few times and heard it was okay. Agoda.com has them at 45 usd. It's within walking distance to LA Cafe or a short cab ride depending on how you like to get around Ermita. I normally walk in Ermita until about midnight then take cabs after that but everyone has their own comfort level. If you wind up staying there then there is a bar called G Point that is near you and has a lunch buffet and another bar called Amazonia thats about a block before you get to La Cafe. Both are worth checking out but they are smaller than LA Cafe.

They get XXX number of text messages allowed when they refill up so texting is pretty much free as they load up so much and so often they usually have hundreds and hundreds of free text messages allowed.
