There are some posters here that have complained about being nagged by the mamasan to go the room or book table after just a few minutes chatting with the lady. This example is why. The mamasan also didn't get her commission for writing the voucher for the booking table and Classic didn't get their cut. Classic will fix this if it happens too often, which will be a degraded experience for everyone.

Exactly as you said, OP was not aware. I've seen some of OP's other reports, and he appears to be a generous guy who did not intend to rip anyone off, but was simply not aware.

E.g., if coming from Thailand and the bar scene there, there's no charge for hanging out or playing pool with girls in the bar. Depending on the bar, they may or may not ask for some "lady drinks" during that time, and quickly leave you for greener pastures if you decline to buy a drink or two, but if the mamasan or anyone else afterwards request that you pay the girls for their time during the hour you played pool with them ... in Thailand, that would be somebody trying to scam you.

Jakarta is obviously not Thailand, but I'm not surprised a first time visitor would think the same thing would be some kind of scam if it happened to him in Jakarta, especially when the price for the girl to hang out and play pool with you is the same as the price for you fucking that girl in the room.

Awwww fuck now I feel bad. I am used to being scammed and pressured in various places and the mamasans at T2 give that vibe in spades. So I assumed.

In my defense I will say that this is VERY inconsistent with their other policies. They are super consistent on getting you to consent to everything. You have to sign for every drink! (Unlike Bangkok there they can pad your bill and say you agreed). It's not appropriate to hit me with this an hour later. In fact when we went to play pool the girls said let me go tell mama where I am. Perfect opportunity for mama to tell the only white guy in the club (so obv unfamiliar with unwritten rules) that he was committed to pay for her time.

And yeah it's not that I can't afford it obviously. It's the principal of both allowing scams or price inflation to ruin our little ecosystem. So I thought I was doing the right thing by pushing back. Sorry guys. (And I did give the girl 200 K for her time no way she was going to get a room that time of night with 100 other girls to choose from, so the "opportunity cost" argument is a little specious.).

However, your observation of T5's photo policy offers a unique opportunity to connect the reason why your actions at T2 the other day were probably not advisable.

To illustrate my point that our actions in Jakarta have consequences for others, I think we can draw a fairly straight line here about why T5 does not allow pictures and it seems pretty clear the reasons are based on the actions of a single individual from this board. I won't name him. But any long term reader of the Jakarta section will know who I am referring to.

See, there was a poster who was pretty prolific and had mongered in other countries as well. He fell in love with Jakarta and spent several months there over several trips. He posted very detailed trip reports, but he also had a really short fuse and often got into internet battles that quickly escalated. I'll leave the details there, as I wasn't affected by them. But others here have told their stories.

This poster did the same as you. He would often take a tasteful, fully clothed picture of his ladies, including ladies at T5.

Anyway. One night, this individual was drunk posting and arguing with some others about something. I think the availability or non availability of BB. So to prove his point, he posted a picture of a lady from T5. Her eyes were blacked out, but her unique hair color and a very visible tattoo made her easy to identify. The final words of his post were something like. Go fuck her. Go BB her!

So the internet obliged and all the lurkers here immediately rushed to T5 to go see her. This obviously overwhelmed her and eventually it made it back to both her and the management of T5 that her pictures were on the internet. Folks were also demanding BB from her. (I happened to see her a few days after the incident. Before I could even say, namamu siapa? (what's your name) or Apa khabar? (how are you?) Her first words to me, before anything else was harus pakai kondom! (must use condom).

What happened next? Well, the next time the person who posted her photo went to T5, he was confronted by management and security, taken to an office apparently and forced to delete the pictures of her from his phone. Then apparently the no photos policy was really hammered home to the ladies. It seems like this policy is still in effect and working well based on your post.

That is not the end of the story, unfortunately. The individual poster who posted her photos then received a stream of threatening DMs from others upset they could no longer take photos of their ladies in T5. I think that was the reason. This part I don't remember as well. Just that he was the subject of threatening DMs. So much so that he started to fear for his safety and retired from the board. This was apparently the second destination where he feared for his safety. Another destination apparently he fucked someone's girlfriend. (Also, in the interest of fairness. Several other posters have mentioned the irony of him fearing for his safety as he allegedly DMed several others before this incident and threatened to fight them in person over internet disagreements.) Again. I make no judgements, I am just passing on the story.

My point here is that our actions have consequences. This individual probably directly effected your ability at T5 to take a picture. And your refusal to pay for something you probably should have paid for will effect the next visitor. And so on. Whether it will be more aggressive mamasans after talking to a lady for 5 minutes. Coming over and forcing you to book a table after 5 minutes, an official policy, whatever it ends up looking like. The environment in Jakarta and these places is usually pretty chill. They don't want to have to nag you. They expected customers to know if they spent an hour of time with a lady working in a brothel, they would have to pay for her time. Maybe this leads to a less chill environment in the future.

And so I leave everyone with that thought. Change is inevitable as Jakarta gets more popular. But it will also get shittier and shittier with all the extra attention. Especially those that don't fully understand the system there.

As far as the allure, I keep a google doc of all the girls I've ever been with going back to 2014. And I have pictures of every noteworthy one. Empo I am aware of the phone policy and honestly I am more comfortable that way, I am always concerned about where the phone is once inside the room, the girl also has just as much potential for damage with her phone. The camera side is opaque / blurred whereas the screen side is clear. Theoretically you could do a little bit thru the case and prob even a selfie thru the screen side cam, tho it seems best avoided given their security protocols.

For example messaging my date for the evening or just scrolling. The girls don't hang by the pool area if they are not with a customer so there is nothing to look at.
