Sosua Reports

The Rosetta Stone guy is named Lionel. He has been in Sosua for years and I have many friends that have purchased his products without any problems. When buying the Spanish CDs make sure you specify if you have a Mac. Also make sure they play before he leaves to play it safe. There was a guy on this board who used to take Lionel to Santiago to pull chicas for him. The guy said Lionel pulled girls everywhere because of his familiarity with the territory.

Lionel was deported for distributing drugs in the DC area many years ago. I haven't been to Sosua in a few months but Lionel must of fallen on hard times if he is now asking for food. To me he is not a threat. He always works solo, always smiles and I have never seen him in an arguement.

I learned a lesson about these guys years ago because of my generosity. I used to always sympathize with the Haitians because I used to feel that if my ancestors were on a different slave ship that our situations could be reversed.

I was sitting at 4 Roses with BBL after just winning 100 dollars from a guy at Lou's after he lost a bet on a Monday night football game we were watching. On the curb outside of 4 Roses was a Haitian dude crying. I asked BBL why the guy was crying on the curb and he said "gogo leave it alone". I didn't listen and invited the guy to the bar for a drink so that I could hear his story. He said his girl was Dominicana and her family wasn't accepting him. He had lost his job and place and was also on the streets. He never asked for anything but my stupid ass handed him the the crisp 100 dollar bill I had just won. BBL got so pissed he walked away shaking his head. I figured the money was dirty money so spend it don't try to save it. The Haitian dude almost fainted and hugged me and said I was his brother.

Fast forward to my next trip two months later and the guy sees me in Sosua. He runs over and yells my brother. He hugs me and sits down. I tell him I'm in pussy hunting mode and he finally leaves. When I see him on the strip with other Haitian dudes he runs over so guys can meet the fool who gave him money. This shit was getting out of hand and I regretted my generosity.

I didn't see him on my next two trips but I saw him about a year later. I was seated in a chair in front of Dlatins when I saw him from across the street but something was different as I didn't acknowledge him. Later I walked right by him and he looked at me but I didn't make eye contact, great he didn't remember me. As I would see him on future trips his dress code changed and he appeared to have money. His walk and demeanor changed. Bingo, damn the guy had turned gay. I'm guessing he hit hard times and got turned out by some German dude. Now I never give money because it can lead to problems down the road. I just say no gracias and keep walking.

Unfortunately those types of icebreakers do not entice me. Especially in the DR where compliance to certain requests can be perceived as you being weak, new or ignorant. Thanks Oakie, Have always appreciated reading your posts as well as the other Sosua vets. Used to visit and go all over Brazil from 99 to 05, in the days when the dollar went far there. Sosua has a little bit of the same vibe Rio had. Good beaches, good food, good prices and pretty women. But no country can match those Brasalieras for their skills in the cama. I think they are just born with it. The Dominianas I find on par in that department with the Ticas and Mexicanas.

I actually prefer Sosua in the low season, in fact I prefer anywhere in the low season. The fewer chicas around is more than balanced by the lack of tourists and mongers. They have a little more incentive and a little more time to deliver a good session. Likewise restaurants and bars. Hotel rooms are always available and open to negotiation.

Also, if you like a GF to hang with you for a few days, low season is definitely the time in my experience.

The weather factor? Not an issue as long as you have A / see, and it's only up here on the mainland where we get all excited about hurricanes.

Only the best chicks will show up and will not mind paying a cover to get in because they know there's a good chance they will find a date. I think I have only been inside of the club twice. Maybe the rules have changed since then. When I was there in June standing out front it was the exact opposite of what you guys were saying. It was heavy on the chaff and light on the wheat, despite there being a cover charge. Same as Wrx experienced, there were chicks coming up to me asking me to pay their cover charge. I'm not even going in. Why the hell would I pay for you to get in?
