Truth be told I try to be fluid. I have options that I can or not exercise. I am a fan of GFE and have invested the time to make it a reality. Friendly banter on watsup turns into real heat.

Just a note on the recent discussion of the local street guys.
While most Dominicans are friendly by nature, it can't be said often enough that any local who comes up to you in Sosua unsolicited is never going to do you any favors. They have perfected multiple ways to separate the tourist from his dollars. It's their only means of support. They'll stroke your ego if they can, and watch you give it up like a baby.
Even if a satisfactory deal is struck, they'll expect more down the raod, and will take advantage of your friendliness to the point where you have to tell them eventually to FO. Who needs to have to "avoid" certain people, or even make an enemy?
If you really need something, you will do best to do the soliciting yourself and avoid the first guy in your face, just like coming out of the airport for a cab, or the chica that grabs you when you walk into a bar. They can size up a tourist in a New York minute.
I have never had a problem with being hassled down there, on the street, in bars, or at the beach.
There's is a lot of good info on this subject posted way back on this forum on how to carry yourself and avoid the traps which lead to hassle, complaints, and disappointment.
If you are still going down these dead end roads, you are still a newbie.

Peace.[/QUOTE]His hustle is his hustle. The thing is guys that come to Sosua should be educating themselves on the things that essentially make themselves appear to be marks and targets of hustlers.
Individuals that come to Sosua often should be striving to get to the point where the hustlers leave you alone, or bother you less. Mainly because they realize they can't get over on you. How about this part? The issue I have with any hustler is their disrespect of you. When they are consistently persistent, that resonates that their interest in getting something from you, trumps their lack of respect for declining their requests. Their lack of respect for your personal space, your time, and your company. Their perception IMO is that you are in their environment, and they are in control, not you. That is what one needs to recognize, moreso than having feelings for a mans hustle.
So when I am with my company, I don't need no hustler coming around disrespecting us while were having a conversation. I don't need no hustler that understands what were saying, hanging around listening to us and offering his 2 cents. I don't need no hustler demonstrating to me that he perceives me as a mark / target because he steps straight to me, and avoids or ignores going to others nearby. I will nicely direct a hustlers attention to whoever is standing close by. If they won't hustle to them, then I'm not going to let anyone hustle me.
When I politely say "no gracias" the 1st time, mutha blubber, no means NO. Don't come back later or tomorrow up in my face again. When they do that they don't respect your answer. IMO they believe they have the control. The means to potentially break you down. They've learned from experience, that persistence often pays off. Just like guys pay chicas to leave, same goes for hustlers. They know some people will give in, and pay them to leave. They also seem to act like they have the right to invade your space, annoy and irritate you whenever they feel like it. My goal is to not let them get away with that.
So IMO, there is more to it, than simply making sure one doesn't get cheated or ripped off. Most don't want the shit they're selling/offering in the 1st place, nor are they interested in giving handouts. No means NO.
Once you get to the point where they leave you alone, and watch who they pester in your stead, then it should be apparent why it's important to get to that point where they don't even try you. That doesn't mean they will stop entirely. Because they'll only back off temporarily. You haven't stopped them entirely. And you may not have gained any respect. You will always get enough that come back hustling and begging again, because whatever happened days or weeks before don't mean shit to them. They still may not respect you. And thats the key. If they respected you, that might lead to a seemingly more permanent change in their approach.
They don't respect your position then and they won't respect your position again. Analogy: If you spray and area because you saw roaches, that only stops them for that application. You haven't gotten rid of them. Only chased them off temporarily. But they will be back. One just needs to be as consistent as they are. It's a pain in the butt to have to keep ones guard up at all times, but that's just the nature of the beast. At least the benefits in this environment far out weigh the consistent BS. For me it's getting better. But they still try you. Many are working with the same formula. When they act like they arent on the hustle, they come back with the friendly approach and act like now you both have an understanding of each other. And then the mutha blubba will use that moment to think you've changed your mind and now will give in to a request.
Point being, they are using the same formula to get over. They just hope time has softened your position. Thats what happens when familiarity breeds opportunism in some people. Along with their underlying contempt towards you because they really have a problem with the fact that you are walking around not allowing yourself to be manipulated or exploited. Some take it , that you are rubbing your wealth in their faces.
On a side note. There is this massage / manicure / pedicurist that works the beach. She has tried to use friendship to mask her real intention, which is to make you into a consistent client. The truth is, there is another lady on the playa that does a much better job of giving pedicures. Ms Theresa. Usually when my friend sees me, she comes around, gives me a kiss on the cheek, and in the next moment start looking at everyones feet and hands to offer her services. She doesn't accept that if anybody wanted her services they would let her know. Once again it's sort of a control issue.
In her mind (I'm sure) , our being acquainted is supposed to guarantee that she is the one to have perform my grooming needs. But I've been waiting for the opportunity to bust her bubble. And yesterday it came. She had already paced back and forth a few times already. Along with other ladies looking to offer services. I called Theresa because we didn't see her on the playa. She said she would be there at a certain time. Theresa came and took care of me and my buddy. Meanwhile my friend walked by looking and staring at the back of my head. Smiling at first I'm told but then the smile went away. I'm sure she was hot that Theresa was working HER clients. Moreso, because I do not think Theresa pays the vender fee, that some of the other massage ladies do.
Theresa doesn't care. As far as she is concerned she can do what she does until they tell her she can't. Later that night about 7:30 the massage lady friend attempted to contact me on Tango. Not a text but a phone call. For what I don't know. But she surely needs to get it straight that just because we are acquainted doesn't mean she has rights on who I use for my grooming needs. I fully expect the subject will come up the next time I see her on the playa.

I have observed many hustlers not even bother approaching certain mongers or hassle them less simply because they didn't look like them or didnt relate to them by what they have in common. So don't be so quick to believe that being a newbie is why some individuals with experience are being approached. And for you to stop at that one conclusion is really doing the subject a disservice. And I'm not implying only people of color are being approached by hustlers, but I do believe they are approached a lot more and more consistently than they will others that don't look like them or relate to them.
I've watched the Haitian vendors across from the Bon ice cream parlor completely ignore many of the European/white tourists passing by, or offer a soft sell, to which their response is a quick no or decline, but when it comes to people that look like them, use the friendly "brotherman" approach, and use that hoping that will garner a sale. In many instances a conversation may happen. The hustlers taking time to engage a monger. I just dont see that happening with all mongers. I see it more with mongers that look more like they do. Im not claiming absolutes here. Im saying what I believe is more consistent. More likely.
So make sure you take that into consideration. Don't just believe one conclusion and stick with that. Your experience may be different for more reasons than you think. Not to mention the perception a hustler might have that you don't have anything to offer or wouldn't be likely to fall for the brotherman approach.

These hustlers and chicas are not your friend, They look at you as a Cash Register. That's it!. My Father always told me, You want to know what people really think about you or know who your real friends are? Act like your Broke. I bet when you act broke and don't have money, the hustlers or chicas won't even look your way.
I have no issues with the guys. If you lived in the DR you would be trying your best to make a decent living the I DR is not easy. There job is get as much as they can I respect that. He'll week are doing the same thing with the ladies. Want all I can get for as little as possible.

Judging from your posts, if you are telling the truth, you have spent a lot of time with the "local touts". To the point you even know their names. You've have had interactions with them, at your table, telling you long stories, etc.
Classic fishing technique. Can you blame them if they think you are a possible mark?

But there are enough guys around who will, for whatever reason, engage in conversations with "local touts".
Enough to make a living from, obviously.
Logistics and things:
Flight:
Flight was out of SAN to POP on AA for $750 and change. Flights were pretty much on time and with no issues. I really hate the red eye flight, but I keep abusing this old depleted body for some reason.
Hotel:
For the fifth time, I stayed at Casa Cayena. Wilfried met me at the airport; as usual. The place is off the main road, kind of tucked in the back towards the semi private beach. The place is extremely quiet and well kept. Wilfried is still offering breakfast and dinner included in the room rate. I only ate breakfast there twice, but I did have dinner on four nights. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was excellent! Room security was never an issue. I left out my laptop and surface pad daily without any issues. The entire staff is professional and overall outstanding. I abused the pool almost every evening. I will continue to stay there.
Money:
I got lazy and just exchanged money at the hotel, the rate was 42+ change. The rest of the time I abused the ATM machines and vice-versa.
Cell Phone:
I went back to Orange and my SIM card was no longer valid. I had to buy another for 100 pesos. I put 400 pesos of minutes on the card, which was plenty enough.
Food:
Besides eating at Casa Cayena, I ate at other spots. I had the ribs at the Scandinavian place on the beach. They were the best ribs I've ever had in Sosua! I ate at Movida twice, great pasta! I also ate at several food tray places, like at Rumba's and a couple down the road; all were very good. Ollie's is one of my favorite places, but it was closed the entire time. I did try the pizza at Terra Linda, I did not care for it at all. Others rave about it; so be it.
The Beach:
It rained hard the first few days and Herman's was closed; fucked up my whole beach routine. I did make it out for Saturday and Sunday, and there was a fair share of women looking for work. Not as much as previous trips, but still a fair share nevertheless.
The Changes:
Rumba still had the best game in town; but the girls came out later than usual. Classicos was open, but wanted a 200 peso entrance fee. Everyone pays 200 pesos to get in the place. Seeing how most of the women can't afford the entry fee, many stay clear of the place.
Now, I was told by my buddy that lives there that the first 100 women get in free, however, I did not see this for myself. I went there twice, on Saturday night and one week day night, I saw a butt load of men and not enough women both times.
Rumor on the streets was that the'Latin would reopen in 2-3 weeks. I think that if the'Latin reopens, it will be the demise of Classicos; just my uneducated guess.
Fucking Rumba and their music:
I was hanging with Brother P for a few nights, and the last night I was there, Brother and I sat at a table to watch the women come and go. For 2 fucking hours, there was not ONE Latina song played. Every fucking song was proud to use the "and" word, over and fucking over again! OK, off my soapbox.
Women:
It really helped to have established contacts. I spent some time with a few new girls, but also some time with my previous girls. Sosua was not dried up, as some would have you believe. There are still plenty of girls available. Some are asking for 2000 for short time, but many are still going with 1500. It is still a buyer's market.
Final thoughts:
This was my 14th trip in less than 4 years and I watched this place with its ups and downs. Some places are closed while enough places are still open to provide a good assortment of chicas. Friday and Saturday nights were off the hook concerning the number of women that were available. This place still is one of the best values in the world, and also, if you make connections, it is a great place to come back to on a regular basis. I love the women and they seem to love my pesos, so it all kind of works out!

This is the first time I've ever heard of CC being described as extremely quiet. Every time I've been by there (during the day) it's been animal house, what with the pool parties and all.
I've always liked the location, layout and vibe of the place though, and if it really is quiet like you say, I'll probably stay there next.
For all the men looking at these boards trying to make plans just know this place is to be feared respected and loved all at the same time. You may come and go as you please if you act right but if not you probably will not want to return or they might just not let you leave. Outsiders look at these po po and laugh because of the low technology they have but they make it work for them. I seen a chica get arrested and the cop stop a un knowingly moto and make the guy take the both of them away on the spot.
As for the pick up on women like others have said the girls in Rumbas all start out at 2 k short time but will leave with you for less and the girls on the street will go with you short time for 1 k but if you like the girls then you can make a deal for all night.
Sosua is a great place to play.
