You will stand out, you can do it 100 times and maybe not have a incident but the chances of a incident are increased 1000% whenever you stand still outside. Even 2 seconds to look at the phone. And in your case you may have attracted attention duebto 3 girls in couple hours. Someone may have told someone this guys loaded. If you were paying 120 130 for a girl like you wrote, you were the perfect target.

So I go to a taco stand, right outside HK next to a row of taxis. I'm waiting for my "to go" tacos before I grab a taxi back to Pueblo and a street girl is just all fucking over me. I kept saying no thank you, no thank you, then she started to get mad for some reason, whistles across the street and some short, stocky Mexican dude comes over to me with some crazy eyes saying god knows what? I barely speak Spanish. But I guess it was her handler? The dude asks me for $40, then $20, LOL. I was just ignoring him as I wasn't intimidated the least bit by this little fuck and since I was next to the HK door team and a bunch of taxi drivers I really wasn't willing to entertain this guy thinking I was fairly safe. So the little handler is sounding off in Spanish, I'm drunk, but not slammed and then he grabs my arm to like demand my attention or something and I shoved his little ass 10 ft back across the sidewalk. No one reacted, the HK bouncers, the taxi drivers, or even the little handler who hit his head upon arrival to the sidewalk after I sent him for a ride. No one did anything? Then as I'm turning back to the taco stand I see 3 police officers literally right behind me like they were there the entire time. Foolishly, I assumed they saw the situation and were about to be on my side. I was wrong. Almost immediately the police start asking me for money. $200 to be exact. A random American next to me getting tacos as well who spoke perfect Spanish started telling the officers the story and it was clear they didn't care and merely wanted my money. Shook me down, asking for $200 or I was going to be arrested, but all I had was $68. And yes, they checked my pockets and wallet. So they took $60 and left me $8 for a taxi back to my hotel. Unreal and a learning experience.

Needless to say my second night I laid low and got some delivery ladies from Musas, which was honestly even a better experience but I'll report back on that in another post. My fingers hurt enough from this post.

A fight in the street Zona Norte with locals is even worse, now you can't come back to Zona Norte because if they recognize you you'll be in deep doo-doo.

This is a bizarre & disturbing story. Seems odd since there is rarely working girls on that corner. The best way to handle this situation is to go back inside HK or another business. Perhaps the cops and guy saw you as a target given how late it was. This one reason why I usually head back before midnight. This also goes to show how important to not let your guard down in Tijuana. What reason did the police give you for demanding a bribe.

Sounds like you experienced almost everything Tijuana has to offer in one night. I think the all in price you mention is that you included the cost of the room for $130 not that you paid the girl $130.

Yeah I wouldn't get to drunk your first time in Tijuana and hang around outside the bars. I don't think anyone was tipped off to you just that they might of noticed you were drunk and at that time you were an easy target. From your description I am confused if you were in the ally or the front of HK. Because the only cart that I know of by HK in the front is the hot dog guy. So if you were in the ally that is the worst area to hang out in because it has more seedy characters in a small area. As far as you feeling safe because the door guys were watching that is the last thing they care about. In general as it has been discussed before it's pretty much every man for himself in that area and you get numb to all the bad stuff. Especially being an American they will have less to do with you and just assume you get what you deserve and they would be looked down at for helping you. The guy that tried to help is nice but doesn't seem from your story that he was willing to go the extra mile for you with the cops. Maybe you were more drunk than you think and he figured it wasn't worth it. The good news is nothing really bad happened and you will learn from your errors.

If you run into problems, go back into the clubs. Security will block any troublemaking locals from coming in. But understand this, security is there to protect the club, they are not there to protect you. If some one pulls a gun and shoots you, no one will help, no one will testify, security films will disappear. This is Mexico and you are not Mexican. They will not give a fuck if a drunk gringo dies. Who has been shot there in the past that has been reported on this forum? Let's see, a security guard, 2 drug dealers, a waiter at the end of the alley. There is a reason why the military patrol this area in 8 man teams. There is a reason why you will see "no guns in Mexico" signs before entering Tijuana. If you are forced to defend yourself, drop the dude and leave. Do not fuck around or you're going to have a hole in your head. Tijuana is the murder capital of the world for about the last 10 years.

But I do appreciate all the constructive criticism crew. I am a Tijuana / boarder town newbie and appreciate all the critiques I can get! Also, completely agree looking back engaging in any attention in Tijuana was stupid. Def a learning experience.

Then finally to answer one of the questions re: what police shook me down for? From what I gathered from the other American who spoke perfect Spanish next to me, the police were conflicted on what to accuse me of? They went to decent length to assess my sobriety, but fortunately for me, I was able to clearly answer all their questions despite the 3 am time. So it started with them accusing me of being drunk, then that didn't fit. Then the fighting thing is where I believe it ended up? The other American basically was like "man, $60 is getting out cheap, forget the tacos, take the taxi and GTFOH". "So I did".

Honestly though, when I go back, I'm over the clubs. My experience the next day with Musas girls, in the leisure of my own nicer hotel / room, for even cheaper rate, with just as hot of girls was way better. No comparison in my eyes. You have to want to be in a club, loud music, bright lights, craziness, to justify the club scene vs agency girl. (Or of course if you aren't staying the night, you need to be provided a room via club girl. That's the only justification I can think of).
