Gyaos:I agree with you. Everything is relative, but Japan is not like it was during the 1980's when melons cost Y10000 and salarymen had huge expense accounts to pump the price of everything. Additionally, compared to the US where I'm originally from, with the exception of the state of Nevada where sex at certain brothels is legal but costs many hundreds of dollars with a limited selection of ladies of questionable attractiveness, Japan is a real bargain. For about Y3000, a gaijin can go to a pink salon and get a perfectly legal BJ. I don't think you can even come close to that in the US. For about Y10000-Y14000 (about $100 US or so), you can go to an esute or health and get nice service (no sex unless you're in NK or somewhere like that) with an attractive lady and it's all legal (except for if you do FS). There are some loopholes where FS is legal, I think, when it's between consenting adults. The downside is you need to be able to talk your way into most of these places if you're a foreigner, but for those who can speak a little Japanese, know the rules, stay sober and behave, there are plenty of really nice services to be had at a good price.Anyway, the fact that almost everything is perfectly legal and some of it is even licensed (healths and soaps, for instance), what more could you ask for?[QUOTE=Gyaos]I beg to differ. After a little vacation. ventured down to Ueno for a little relaxation. Old KMP recently changed name and management. Pass by NYNY, turn second block to the rights and yo'll find the old pink sign on the left side. 9000 Yen deal did the trick. On the way, was offered to a health called Pinks for 5000 for 30 min. Looks like it could be good, though yet to try. Usually turned away at most healths as Japanese only.

Here in Japan, very few things could be considered "cheap" but that's not the issue. You get what you pay for. Since you said $6 for a bowl of noodles sounds expensive, try finding a bowl of authentic Japanese-style noodles or ramen in any US city for less than $6 out the door including tax and ridiculous tips. You might be able to go into the bowels of a major Chinatown in NYC, SFO or LA and get a cheap bowl of noodles for $4 if you're lucky but it's not going to be on par with authentic Japanese noodles. They mostly look like a bar/lounge with sofas etc. and sometimes additional separate play rooms.The concept is similar to Swinger Clubs in the West. HB's are often frequented by couples (married or not) who like to spice up their sexlife. Usually they are "Members Only" and it is easier to enter when you bring a lady, but single men (coming for the first time and thus being no member yet) can get admitted as well. Single Ladies often enter for free while men have to pay an entrance fee (5000 Yen and up) besides the initial Membership fee (mostly 10000 Yen). On evenings with special events, there can be a higher entrance fee.By simply paying the fee, sex is of course not guaranteed. It very much depends on the mood of the say. Often there are more men than women and some nights generally can be slow. But as the name of these places indicate: people go there for a drink, a (very direct and toppic oriented) chat in a relaxed atmosphere and then see what might "happen" next...Be aware though that it would be of advantage to speak relatively good Japanese (at least to pass by the "Mastaa" or "Mama-san" the first time you show up at the door).

Hop over to HK, Singapore and elsewhere in Asia and you get better stuff at one tenth the price. The same goes for playtime.Don't get me wrong, I love Japan but it is annoying how much money you need to cough up compared to other places in the region.

Of course you can get cheaper -- but then, it's pretty much 'Cup Noodle' or you're living out in the sticks. Anything in Tokyo is expensive by any standards, anywhere. Ramen can be less than 600en, not 780 and up. You`re looking in the wrong areas. I can get a real good bowl of miso ramen with chahan for 600 yen.The cheapest I`ve seen Ramen is around the Jimbocho area walking to Ochanomizu. There you can find ramen for 380 yen. Akihabara has a ramen shop too right outside the station. Basic ramen is 460 yen. Corn Ramen (yes, canned corn) is 480 yen.As for the US Dollar expence in Japan. The yen was 231 yen to the dollar before Ronald Reagan crashed the US Dollar to 154 yen. Then the Japanese bubble took off and it went to 80 yen to the dollar. Ronnie, as great a President as he was, has made the Japanese super rich. But we can still go there and have sex with their women now at 120 yen to the dollar.Okay, just wanted to point that out, rather than get into stuff off topic. Will report some Nippori places soon.
