I would like to relate an interesting story that happened to me in Istanbul, which shows how skilled touts can be in this city. I was walking down the pedestrian street from Taksim square one evening, heading towards Galata bridge for my first fish dinner in Istanbul, as I was approached by a young guy who began talking with me.
I had read about various rip-off stories in Istanbul, but I though OK, anyway I’m only going to eat fish. The guy was very polite, spoke good English, and seemed to have a good cultural level. The guy explained me his family had a clothes business in Izmir, and that he has been staying in Istanbul for a few days to meet some customers. When the waiter brought the bill, as I complained it was a bit too expensive, the guy insisted on paying 50 L on a total of 85 L bill. After that he said: “That’s my last night in Istanbul. In Izmir my father is very traditional and I can’t even drink Raki. Tonight I want to have fun! Let’s go together somewhere. After such generosity and enough Raki, I was feeling more like trusting him. I'm going to spend a few days in Istanbul after the end of Ramadan, and I was wondering if someone could prep me up on the girlfriendliness of the hotels close to the Irmak/Bacardi/Serenda scene. (I haven't been to IST for a year.) I don't mean girlfriendly in the sense of Orange hotel, etc. - I'm looking for a place to say which will allow me to bring girls to the room. In the old days I'd stay at Merit Antik, but it has closed now. I would suggest Hotel Comfort (a four-star hotel), which is very close to Gold Can.

Taslik hotel in Macka is a GF cheap hotel. Its a little bit old but its clean 4 star. Reception dont bother mongers.
