Can't believe some of the cynical pessimistic stuff I'm reading here. If you're able to move freely around the globe and frequent special places like Colombia. You are of the super privileged. That's reason in itself to be optimistic about your ability to experience life. If you only regard women as gold-diggers where 'you have to pay one way or the other' - then you probably need to stop visiting spots like Medellin and start having real, humanized relationships with women. You then can come back to your travels with a brighter perspective on life where you don't regard pleasurable human experiences as simply mechanistic transactions.

I've been on for a few years, but never broke down and wrote a report. I know, I suck. But I did buy a membership yesterday.

At any rate, here for a couple weeks (6th time in last 12 months) and wanted to write a small update on a few things I think have changed a bit since I started coming down a few years ago.

1. Parque Lleras seems to get getting busier each time. There is a Starbucks there, and it seems to be just expanding outwards (restaurants and apartments). Still a great place to eat, party, and pretty much do anything.

2 a. Loutron (finding it) - I had heard about this place, and may people gushing over it. It's hard as hell to find unless the taxi actually knows how to get there. For anyone going, either get a taxi who knows exactly where it is (not "in the general area") or it (oddly) was in Waze (but not google maps or apple maps). The reason it was hard to find was that there is a 1,000 ft driveway and leads up to what appears to be a mansion which isn't visible from the road. So the taxi's couldn't really understand if they had found it. I made this mistake and we went, and left without finding it. Then the second time around we found it.

2 b. Loutron (inside) - Without a doubt, the inside is incredible compared to other casas or pensions or whatever your local-country term is. This is / was a large mansion (a real one) and was converted into a very "casa" - Its the only place I know of in Medellin that has a sit-down bar, tables and where you can go with a group of guys and actually chill on a balcony and drink. Kind of the same vibe as Zona Blue back in the day in Costa Rica. It's expensive (relatively) -- About $90 USD (280 k COP) for the girls. The drinks were middle priced. But overall just having a bar / chill place with my friends was great. As far as girls. Everyone has their own version of hot. But for me, this wasn't much different than the other places. I was thinking I would walk in and see just 10 after 10. Didn't happen. There were 10 girls, ranging 5 to 7. (FYI, my version of a 10 is more of a spinner type, Audrina Patridge or Emmanuele Chriqui) -- I don't like larger girls. I took the 7 and the experience was VERY good. She actually gave me a massage, stayed over the 60 minutes (maybe 75 ish) and was really chill (though we had pretty solid chemistry). One thing to note is that the girls still come out to present, and so you can't hang out and drink with them first (well I guess you could pay and do it, but we didn't). Overall, I would, without hesitation, recommend this place to anyone if not to just experience the way I wish all casas were: clean, nice, and professional, without the hospital lights.

3. Energy. My favorite spot. Yesterday the place was packed with about 20 girls. I found 2 x 9's. Overall, this place is pretty nice, a very wide selection, and 5 blocks from the Estadio Metro station.

4. Abydos. We stopped by for 30 minutes and had a beer. I had never been here before, and also never had been to Luna Lunera which is right across the street. There were only 4 girls, nothing special, but the staff was nice and the place was also pretty clean from what I saw.

5. New Life has a large selection also, but personally I just feel rushed when I'm there, like I'm in a fast-food restaurant. That being said. Go here anyway. No matter what. The number of girls is the same as Energy, its 1/2 the price, and it's worth a look.

A few other notes:

1. This was the first time I used Uber. And without hesitation, I will avoid taxis as much as I can in the future. Uber lets you pay automatically on your card, puts the address the driver's phone (so no more accidental "I went the wrong way" bullshit), and the best thing (in my opinion) -- the price is set and cheaper. So even if there is a bit of trouble finding a spot, you pay the flat rate before you get in the car.

2. For those of you into spinners, the 3 best places I have been here in the last year (I've been to many of the casas, strip clubs, the mansion, etc.) have been, in this order: Las Isla, Fase 2, and Energy. La Isla is expensive (300 for 30 minutes -- though they will tell you an hour and I guess you could push it), plus the drinks and taxi are expensive. Fase 2 is closer to the city, but the same issue with the drinks. Energy, dollar for dollar is the best value in this city based on my tastes.

3. The mansion -- It's called hotel m now. Great place and you can read reviews by others here. It seems like there have been less and less girls there compared to a couple years ago, and the internet is godawful if you have to actually make Skype calls, plus the construction noise that starts early. However, again, this is one of the few places you can meet other gringos, hang out in the same place next to a pool all day and have girls come and go. The value is still VERY solid for anyone looking for that, or anyone new to the country.

5. The metro. I used to swear by it. But during rush hours it's gotten a bit more crowded. Plus uber (considering it is point to point) just seems to be the better way for me to travel now.

6. Any of you who have a check / credit card that doesn't charge fees. I got a much higher conversion rate just withdrawing cash as I needed it. About 5% higher on the conversion, plus no fees (though that's my bank). Any of you who bring dollars, make sure you get NEW bills before bringing them here. Any wrinkled or ripped bills are scoffed at at the money-changing places and they will just not accept those bills.

7. I also broke down and started using facebook and tinder (since actually meeting girls here can be a pain in the ass sometimes). Once you add a few other guys here, and start adding the girls on their friends list, you will have about 100+ within days. Try to do this before arriving.

8. I got the Medellin casa list from the admin here- it's legit. I was originally wanting the map as well, but using uber and just putting the address from the text list, that served us very well. Everything on the casa list for Medellin was spot-on and that list alone is worth $20 of dealing with googling all that shit. I downloaded the PDF, imported into my phone and then just copied the addresses into uber as we went to each one. It does not get any easier than that.

9. Phone. For about $10, you can get a SIM plus about 10 days worth of internet (light browsing, whatsapp, etc). People don't text or call much here. Mostly they use FB messenger and Whatsapp. I wouldn't even bother trying to communicate with a female unless you use one of those two apps.

10. I use uber, but anyone looking to save money on the trip into the city from the airport. There are private shuttles right outside the terminal. Usually there is a guy screaming "San Diego" and another screaming "Central" -- Either one is about $3 USD (9,500 COP) and they drop you off downtown where you can taxi anywhere for pretty cheap.

11. Any of you using AirBnb- you might want to specifically ask the host if you can have guests, or try to read between the lines. We got our asses handed to us a few trips back because the guards at the apartments carded everyone and our host was pissed when we showed up at 11 pm with vodka and company.

First time in Medellin. Got a sick penthouse airbnb on the hill across from La Isla. Since its only a few minutes away by uber I checked it out. Host recommendation I had a 2 bedroom place. One bedroom for sex, one for sleeping. Awesome balcony with views of all of Medellin.

Got to La Isla around 10 pm on a Friday night. It was totally empty when I arrived and thought the place was closed, but bouncers were there so I went in. There were like 3 girls and 2 tables of guys and no strippers, but I figured wtf I'll wait it out. Had a beer and waited. A couple strippers showed up. They ask for tips after the dance because it's not like the states where you stack cash on the stage.

Around 11 the place started to get packed with girls. All types, shapes, sizes etc. I'd say when I was leaving around 11:30 was the sweet spot. Girls were there hunting but still clean (well maybe who knows what they do before they got there).

The exit fee is $180 k.

The girls want 300 k in house. Girl quoted me 800 K TLN but got her down to 500 k. Left with a girl after a few over priced drinks. She spent about 2 hours with me before heading back to the club or at least that's where the uber dropped her off.

The thing I like about this place compared to Casas is that the girls get naked on stage so you know exactly what you are getting. I don't like a girl that looks good in her cocktail dress then you get her naked and find funky nipples or scars. At that point its too late to change your mind. So this place at least you can see her naked then when she comes around asking for tips you buy her a drink if you like her.

Note on tips. Girls expect at least 2 k. Anything more than that is bonus to them, no tip and they will haggle you later so just get a 50 k note changed and hand it out.

The girl I took home wanted my number (Colombian SIM of course for whatsapp. She wanted facebook and my us number but fuck that noise) and to hangout the next day. She blew my phone up the next day wanting to hangout, seriously like 5 calls and 4 texts before I responded. I met her for lunch after an Escobar tour of the city and she was waiting at the spot with a 20 min heads up. After like 10 hours of hanging out; lunch, tour of her neighborhood, sex, pool, dinner, drinks, sketchy strip club, she said she wanted money. She started with 1 million pesos, but I negotiated her down to the same as the night before so 680 k. I balked at the extra 180 k cause we weren't at the club then she started saying things like "well we don't want problems do we, La isla is 5 minutes from your apartment. ". Not so subtly got the impression that 180 k was so I don't get robbed or whatever. I was kinda annoyed because at that point I'd rather find a new flavor girl but whatever we were haggling over 180 k (60 USD). Hit the ATM on the way back from zona rosa, sex again then she stayed till like 3 am even though I kept telling her I was ready for sleep, but with a naked Paisa hanging out on your balcony it's hard to really hard to actually kick her out. She wanted to hangout again on Sunday but I was bored of her.

I'm kinda newbie at this so guess that's GFE. Not really sure why she wants to spend so much time for the same amount of money but whatever, nice little weekend treat. Just the piece of advice I realized from this experience is that next time I go to La Isla (or really any casa I'm taking girls home from) be super picky of the girl cause it's not just a 30 min time I'm getting myself into but possible a whole weekend experience so for the time spent its worth getting your ideal girl.

I would say at least 1 out of the 10 you wouldn't find any funky nipples or scars on. Second, say you spot a chick in La Isla that you want to fuck. Are you going to wait 3 hours until her time comes up to dance on the stage in order to see her naked first? Then you find out she has a funky nipple or scars, you have just wasted 3 fucking hours.

Sit in the den on couches and drink with your buddies and the girls or go out on the balcony and do the same. They will even go get you food if you want.
