Camaro in Sosua Synopsis October 2014.
Gentleman I have just completed my most recent excursion throughout the Dominican Republic. This trip will include separate synopsis reports on Bonao, & Santiago. I was going to write something on Puerto Plata, although I made 2 day trips there was nothing of significance to report.
The aforementioned reports will include anecdotes and my observations of the conditions and activities on the ground of each of the locations. This trip includes 2 days in Sosua, 2 days in Bonao, 1 day in Santiago and closes with 3 days in Sosua.
Below I have listed my notes for your review.
Victorian House.
I have stayed at the Victorian House on various occasions due to the incredible view of Sosua Bay and in support of other board members who have been a part of the Victorian House management team.
Personally my primary complaint has been on one of my trips I had problems with the WIFI operating in my room. It should be noted this trip I had no problems, the WIFI worked perfectly. In addition it can be a challenge getting the hotel registration staff to respond to your inquiries.
There have been many reported challenges at Victorian House from loosing reservations to poor security as in all life's experiences YMMV.
Casa Cayena.
I have stayed at Casa Cayena before but I thought I would try the bungalow as opposed to the basic room. The bungalow is a much bigger room and is poolside. The rate includes breakfast and dinner so it was a steel.
The room has a patio, flat screen TV, safe in the closet and the WIFI along with the air conditioning work well.
Wilfred the owner of Casa Cayena.
As previously stated this is my second stay at Casa Cayena and I would be neglectful if I did not make notable mention of Wilfred. Every time HE sees you in the restaurant HE goes out of his way to greet you and shake your hand. Will somebody tell me wur dey do datt at? I have not been at a hotel or any establishment in the Dominican Republic where the owner personally greets you therefore to Wilfred I say BRAVO!
Pedro Clisante update October 3, 2014.
There have been a few changes on Pedro Clisante since my last trip in August, below I have listed my observations:
City Lights:
City Lights is as dead as a door knob may last few trips now it is officially closed with gates up and the whole 9 yards.
Bermuda Bar.
Bermuda Bar has their window openings blocked just like Bar Central but seems to keep a small crowd despite being such a small venue.
Rumbas:
Rumbas is still the late afternoon early evening gathering spot but the talent pool during the week leaves much to be desired. The talent level depends on the day of the week, for example on Mondays it sucks but on Fridays it rocks.
The Premium Disco Bar:
The Premium Disco Bar had chairs on the sidewalk and there was very little of a crowd than my last trip and less security.
The Spot:
The Spot is closed the doors are locked and the Flat screen TV's that were on the walls have been taken down. Everything is boarded up.
The Winners Circle:
I saw a little crowd there each time I walked by but mostly people standing out front.
Bar Central.
Bar Central considered to be the Hatian Embassy because there are so many Hatians is virtually dead with the sign posted "no unaccompanied women" and the louvers over the windows it appears to be in decline.
Merengue:
Merengue is my favorite spot in the late evening because of the friendly staff and light snack they serve wings sandwiches etc. The kitchen is closed on Mondays. I also like being able to watch the chica parade up to Classicos through the glass partitions. I enjoy the staff as they always treat me like family.
Classicos.
Classicos remains the crown of Sosua monger night life. I enjoy the night club atmosphere and air-conditioning. Sosua's best comes out but just like Rumbas the talent level varies based on the day of the week. They open at 11 pm and it is on and poppin by 1 am.
Mamajuana Cafe:
The Mamajuana Cafe is closed on Sundays and is still a chill spot but it has very little traffic during the week. This another spot that is having difficulty surviving.
Cambio & New Dominican Currency Notes.
The Dominican Republic is currently circulating new currency notes which contain sophisticated anti-counterfeiting measures. The bills are issued in 50,100, 1000 and 2000 peso denominations.
Cambio exchange rates as of October 9, 2014 are as follows:
Western Union 43.6 DOP -1 US.
Casa de Cambio Ortega is giving 43.3 DOP -US.
Merengue / Classicos 35. DOP-US.
Rumbas & Rancho Tipico raided September 6, 2014.
Both Rumbas and Rancho Tipo received visits from approximately a dozen governmental officials September 6, 2014 for about 30 minutes. The officials were armed with side arms, shotguns and assault rifles. The officials entered and did not allow patrons to enter or exit during their stay. The music was turned off. Three teams of two agents each appeared to be conducting a search.
For approximately 10-15 minutes, two teams of officials questioned and searched selected tables of male patrons while the other officials maintained the perimeter. They made them stand with hands in the air then they patted them down and emptied their pockets after which the officials left both locations without incident.

No predictions just observations.
Mongers and chicas alike need to prepare for the likely transition of Sosua. Mongers should diversify locations and develop alternate means of contact and interacting with chicas and Sosua PFP chicas need to do the same. If we look at the actions of the Dominican government a pattern emerges. PFP establishments or personalities that were noticeably directly or indirectly connected to prostitution in Sosua have been adversely effected.
1. The owner of Passions was incarcerated for a period and his business was shut down.
2. Cuba-Dave the most vocal and visible advocate of Passions and CMP reportedly was asked to leave the Dominican Republic and not to return.
3. the'Latins one of Pedro Clisante's premier mongering venues was forced to close.
4. The owner of Rumba was briefly incarcerated and has left the Dominican Republic.
5. Most recently the primary promoter of the Victoria House pool parties was detained and extorted.
6. Armando Casciati the reported owner of Classicos has been arrested.
Peter of Passions, Bobby of Rumbas, Willie of the' Latin's and Armando of Classicos have become victims of the winds of change in Sosua. An observation of the evidence indicates that this thing of ours as we knew it in Sosua is on the decline and it is unknown what the future will hold. A reasonable observation based on the aforementioned pattern that the government's intention is to change the face of Sosua therefore those who are interested in Dominican Republic and Sosua specifically as a mongering destination need to be prepared to flow with the transition because those who are not prepared will not survive.
I suspect the intent is to reduce the activity in the tourist areas (or at least the most visible ones). It's utterly hypocritical, since prostitution is legal but I realize there is a difference between Dominicanized prostitution that is cultural and systemic and sex tourism that is blasted on the internet looks bad for the country. It remains to be seen how far the government will go with this crackdown.
Prostitution vs. Sex Tourism.
I have visited Casa de Citas & Car Washes in almost every place I have been in the Dominican Republic. These sex venues are a part of the Dominican landscape and exist in almost every corner of the country. The fact is that unless you are in a major area these places are for locals and not for tourist. In my experience going into these places you are looked at as if you are a aardvark in a zoo.
The problem with current events is not prostitution it is sex tourism. Prostitution is a part of the culture in the Dominican Republic and an unintended consequence has been the growth of sex tourism over the years. I evidence indicates the government is targeting sex tourism more than prostitution.
Toda La Noche.
If you like morning sex to satisfy the morning wood TLN might be the answer. Notice I said might? There are a few risk with TLN to include the chica wanting more money for less sex and skipping the morning session. Then there are those chicas who can sleep into the early afternoon. REALLY?
Unless you have previously been with a woman there is no way you can know if there will be sufficient chemistry for TLN and even when you know a chica she can switch up on you because they can be notoriously fickle.
Back when I first started in Sosua TLN implied sex in the morning and I often did not discuss it but received it, however recently it seems that with the microwave sex group of PFP chicas in Sosua they think mongers should pay them to sleep with them without sex in the morning. The bottom line is that TLN can be a waste of time and money or a great investment as well as very enjoyable with a woman you have a connection with but buyers need to beware TLN can also be a risk.
C est La Vi Bar & Grill.
The see est La Vi Bar and Grill is next to Baileys, while walking to the strip everyday a camarera from the bar continued to smile at me so I got her digits and subsequently invited her to lunch at the Casa Cayena. We hit it off well and I invited her t my room so we could share Facebook photos one thing led to another and whalah!
The experience was one of the best of my trip because I got off my normal stomping grounds of Pedro Clisante and I approached her like a normal woman. At no time did we discuss sex or money it just happened. After a pleasant afternoon together I gave her something for her baby and she went to work. I will definitely try to repeat the process on future trips.
Tony Montana.
I have been coming to Sosua for an extended amount of time and have never been approached by Tony Montana or his representatives. For some reason I was hit a couple of times this trip. Although I do not deal with Tony Montana for personal and professional reasons the reality is that his business is a part of the scene in Sosua. This message is for newbies who may be unaware of the consequences of spending time with the wrong people. The Dominican Republic is a trans-shipment point for Tony Montana therefore it is readily accessible through moto-conchos or the chicas. It is obvious by the behavior of some of the street people of Sosua that they have been adversely affected by Tony Montana. My advice is there is entirely too much risk associated with Tony Montana in the Dominican Republic because those who spend time with him put themselves in the situation of getting set up and spending their vacation with a group of locked up Dominicanos as opposed to a group of free Dominicanas. Enough said.
Closing trip thoughts.
I will probably retire at the end of the month which will change my objectives going forward.
Sosua is still alive and well with plenty of action. We do not know what the future holds but those who enjoy Sosua can continue to do so for the time being.
Although I did not score apart from the Sosua chicas I believe my trip was very productive. I had an authentic Dominican experience in Bonao that taught me much about life and culture in the Dominican Republic. As well as I had an experience in Santiago that demonstrated regardless as to what status a chica is civilian-non pro, semi-pro or pro there are risk in this thing of ours and we have to learn to minimize those risk.
Sosua prices remain all over the map from the typical day time action of 1000-1500 DOP for ST to the night time action going anywhere from 1500-4000 DOP depending on how the chica values herself and your negotiation skills. Even though things are slow most 7 & 8 chicas that perceive themselves to be attractive are not taking less that 2000 DOP for ST and prefer a minimum of 2500 DOP for ST.
Another challenge mongers face with TLN encounters is what I call sleeping chicas. Many chicas feel that after your first nut they can sleep on your dime and not service you in the morning. I have been traveling to Sosua for an extended period of time and I have discovered that recently that is becoming common with chicas even when you have negotiated 2 leches. Going forward I would not do TLN with a chica I am not acquainted with and even then I would be skeptical. It makes no sense to me to pay an extra 1 or 2000 DOP just to hear a woman snore and take up space in your bed.
I ventured outside my normal Pedro Clisante stomping grounds and met a nice camarera who gave me the best experience of my trip. In hindsight in all my years in Sosua how I have neglected to walk through a door that has been open all the time.
I continue rejoice in the fact that todas las mujeres no son igual there are plenty of sharks in the Dominican Republic but there are plenty of dolphins also. This trip I spent time with a couple of civilian -non pro chicas that were more like dolphins than sharks, although there was no sex I believe there are good possibilities going forward.
Conclusion.
My next trip will be the second week in November with Tgunz we will be doing a Mao-Esperanza excursion. Since I will be retired I may stay a little longer than originally planned and hit some other spots as well as look for a place to live while I am in country. I will keep you guys posted.
