That was in a subdivision and not in a hotel. His next-door neighbors did it. Pretty brutal.

Anyone worried should just stay on the main drag. Stay at one of the main Fields hotels and you never have to go more than 100-200 meters (and sometimes significantly less). Or stay at Clarkton and have all your fun in Mirrors, Lost In Asia, Roadie's etc. Take a trike to Fields from there if you like.

Yes, there is the potential for violence, but I doubt per-capita it's any worse than a western city. The standard advice applies--use the in-room safe, only carry as much cash as you need. If you're a big spender, plan to go to your hotel room to refill a few times.

Well, just read the first two pages of reports about AC, and found ZERO info about mongering! Plenty of crap about safety though, and lots of stuff about the Middle East. Hmm. OK, I'll do some. AC is NOT dangerous, unless you are stupid enough to go back to a stranger's place and play cards, or something like that (in which case you get what you deserve). Lots of bars, thousands of girls, 90-something percent ordinary with babies etc. , but shop around, stay sober and you will find a good looking one. Lots of cuties who won't go ('cherry girls'). AC is renowned for this. Prices have risen steadily, but still cheap at around P1200 barfine, which is all-inclusive, although tips are optional. Increasing numbers of girls won't stay all night these days, especially the best lookers from the busiest bars such as Blue Nile. AC is still a craphole in general, although there is now a nice big mall (SM mall). Lots of better (and quite expensive) hotels have opened up. I recommend Pacific Breeze at around US$60 per night, nice pool etc.come on guys, lets have useful info, not sad-assed rumours and private conversations.

Several postings mention a concern about safety in AC. I have been to AC 24 times since Jan 2004. I stayed in the Orchid Inn and now the Wild Orchid since it opened.

I never had an unsafe incident except maybe a few ladies wanting to go bareback. :)

I don't go in less traveled areas. I don't go with street girls. I don't get drunk and wander back streets or start talking trash to anyone who will listen. I don't play card games.

I do visit all the clubs to review the talent. I do just say "No thanks" to vendors. I do pay bar tabs after every round. I do barfine everyday. I do use condoms. I do treat the girls well. I do tip for performance. And....

I do have my ticket for August.

Question: Part of me is not too keen on having to find a new good-looking girl every single morning. Methinks if I find a nice one (or two) I may want her companionship for a few evenings at a time. Can arrangements like this be made? At any place in particular?

Seems to be this issue all of a sudden about safety in AC. From a guy thats been there many times in last few years and just got back from AC last month I can assure you that it has not changed from the first time there.

Whether it be AC, Manila, Cebu, New York, Los Angeles or any other place that has high crime rate. Don't MAKE YOURSELF A TARGET. Be alert, don't look and sound stupid, leave the jewelry at home and obviously do not go in area where tourist do not go. Golden rule. If it looks bad, sounds bad, and just looks bad. Well duh. Its problably bad and get out of there.

I'll be in Angeles City late next week, staying for a week at Pacific Breeze. This is my 2nd trip but the 1st was in 1984 during the Marcos era and Clark Air Base. So I'm totally a newbie. I've been reading practically all the reports on the place posted here and in some other forums as well. Very informative.

But I have some questions:

1. Apparently money changers are widely available. I'm coming from Singapore via Clark. Can I readily change Singapore $ in Angeles or should I bring US$ instead?

2. Are credit cards widely accepted? In the hotels at least?

3. How far is it to Baguio from Angeles. Are there any regular bus services?

CC are accepted by all hotels and some of the larger bars but be careful of the CC supplement charge which can be as high as 4%.

Anyone can clarify where to find the cheaper indian Viagra in AC?

I see the touts in the streets and they ask a lot and I would not trust their stuff even if it was free.

yes you can change sing dollars no problem at the moneychangers on fields.

yes there is regular bus service to baguio (about 3.4 hours). do not go to baguio for action! other method of getting to baguio is asian spirit which flies mwf mornings from manila (not from clark though). quicker to take bus.

be prepared not to recognize balibago at all.

one huge change is prevalence of scams involving **** freelancers. beware. tolerance of any kind of drugs in angeles (other than the freelance viagra salesmen lol) is gone.

another huge change is that the koreans have descended on ac in huge numbers. things will shock you just how different they are.

If you were in AC in 1984 obviously there has been a significant down sizing since then but the fun is still there. Use your credit cards if you must only at the hotels. Preferably I use cash where you not have to worry about your credit card information ever taken.

Money changers are everywhere, WATCH OUT! Not all are respectable. Counterfit money is every where here. Seedy money changers have been known to slip in a few conterfiets while getting your money back. Norma's in AC in there is problably the most wildly used and they are the respectable money changer establishment in Angeles. When you get to AC ask where Norma's is. Everyone knows.

Personally I would bring only american 100 bills and no smaller denomination.

Smaller bills usually get smaller exchange rate. Make sure also the 100 bills are the newer version as well and in good shape. May sound crazy but make sure corners are not cut as well

Baguio is about 1 hour plane ride away. I have friend who from usa that knows Baguio well and I beleave he said its about 5 hour drive from AC along Marcus Highway.

You picked good Hotel in Pacific Breeze where your in the middle of all the action. During the day venture down to Perimeter for some day fun as well.
