Hi, I'm planning a trip to one of these cities soon- which is better for mongering? Is La Paz really unsafe? I'm from Mumbai so I know how third world cities are- but info about La Paz makes it look like there are muggers and violent crime waiting at every corner? I also like some nose candy but not a priority, priority is mongering. Where should I go? And what is the best transit airport to get there OUTSIDE the US?

Plenty of times to Quito. You might want to read some of the reports on here about Quito possibilities. Helps to know Spanish.

I am sure there's lots of flights that bypass the US.

As for safety: use common sense. Do not be walking around any part of town in the dark by yourself. Quito's tourist area (Mariscal Sucre) is notorious for muggings at night. Take taxis every where. They are cheap. Within M. S. Area, it'll be $3-4 at the most.

A word of advice on "nose candy." Don't EVER EVER get involved in illegal drugs in a foreign country. Especially a third world country. Ask yourself a simple question: Would you like to spend a week, a month, a year, in a South American prison? Don't be stupid.

I knew this place was too good to last. Fresh young 18s and 19s; it opened at 10-11 am; $2. 50 cover which included a beer or water; $12 chicas. Well-run, clean and organized.

What a shame. This place was better than Cafe Rojo in my opinion. And only a block or two from the Mariscal.

The woman who runs the restaurant directly across the street says that it has been closed for a little while and no one knows if or when it will open again.

hopefully this will be entertaining as well as informative.

arrived in quito tuesday night for the first time in 4 years. missed the 11pm bus so i shelled out $26 for the taxi. bus leaves every hour on the hour. don't ever arrive in the day if at all possible. the ride took about 45 minutes with no traffic, but the driver told me it could take up to 4 hours if traffic was bad.

started in on wednesday. i got tung's old maps out to reaquaint myself. i noticed that a place called techo rojo was right around the block from my hotel and open in the day. i had never been there. good place to start. walking down the street there was a door with a sign that read 'videos eroticos' and there was a guy standing outside with a grin that seemed to say this is the place. but the map made it look like it was further down the street. address was 217, but the addresses there are so out of whack that i walked to the end of the street and figured that must have been it. i headed back and the guy was gone. there was a bell and i rung, waited a couple seconds and then walked away. the guy came back out and waved at me to come back. i asked "aqui hay mujeres?" "hombres." whoops. ok, scratch that one.

club 122- that's always been a fun dirt cheap one. but passing the front door it seemed closed. a guy outside said it was closed until monday. merde! that was one of my main reasons to come to this city. he told me to try around the corner at swing. i thought it was only open at night, but he told me that the upper floors were open in the day.

above swing- this wasn't on tung's map. if you like grimy and cheap, this is your place. $2 entry with drink and $10 for a room. but this place is pretty grungy. there's a a big corridor when you walk in and can see everything clearly, but then up some stairs and it's really dark and crowded. and this was wednesday around 3pm. it must get out of hand on friday evenings. probably the worst thing about the place is that there are about 5 or 6 rooms and you have to sit and wait in a grimy hallway, while others finish up and then go into a grimy room. a lot of ugly women, but definitely some cute ones. it's kind of like a dirtier version of club 122. from there i headed to cafe rojo.

cafe rojo- still full of mostly hot women. not really any downright ugly ones. i don't know how they do it. none that i recognized from previously. i started talking with a really hot one. she wore no makeup which i like. natural beauty. went to a room. $20 extra por atras. okey dokey. that was fun. pictures? no way! that was a reoccuring theme. i hung out a while and had a few drinks. selected another woman from venezuela. my first venezuelan. nice body. fake boobs. por atras? no way. at the end i finally convinced her to let me take a few photos with clothes.

i headed back to the place above swing around 6pm. i think i told one of the women there i'd be back before they closed at 8pm. i can't remember exactly why. it had been raided and was closed.

headed next door to a place on tung's map i had never been. address is 148 and it just looks like an apartment door. entered and paid the $3 fee and drank a complimentary rum and coke. there were about 6 women, none noteworthy. they told me there were 5 more occupied upstairs. i didn't feel like waiting around.

i took a taxi up to la gasca and meneses where they have masajes medellin and vip paradise women.

vip paradise women. closed. there's a big for rent sign. please have a moment of silence for this place. i have some really good memories from there. that bummed me out.

masajes medellin: they parade a group of women in front of you and you select one. only the group consisted of 2 women. i selected the better of the 2. she was columbian. she told me that normally they have 8 women there and 6 are columbians. by now i was getting a little worn out. i was waiting by the door to get buzzed out and there was an ecuadorian guy there and we started talking chongos. i convinced him to go to cafe rojo and off we went.

cafe rojo was pretty full now. quite a few hotties. i was alternating between beer, pina coladas and red bulls. whoopee. i was introducing all the putas to my new ecuadorian friend and we were having a good time. i had one more session and was pretty worn down by now.

my new friend had to work the next day but he dropped me off at club 155.

club 155- this isn't on any of the maps. i was there about 4 years ago and it'really well refurbished now. quite a few hotties. it's similar to cafe rojo. if you head from cafe rojo towards the main town, and go right at the first light, it's on the left hand side. more drinking and silliness. there was this women there with a blond wig that was so obvious, that it was comical. i started talking with her and soon i went from laughing at her to thinking that she was really cute, reminding me of some girl i had a crush on when i was younger. so off we went to a room. thank goodness for viagra or i would have retired long ago. more drinking and dancing. the wig girl agreed to leave with me after midnight (when they close) for $100. that was sounding good and we were having fun. there were 2 guys there that had big goofy black fros like ebstein from welcome back kotter. i had the girl with the wig take sit between the 2 of them while i took picutres. i almost thought they were wigs. damn funny. i was getting psyched to leave with her but then around 11:30 she said they were calling her and she had to head upstairs with someone. damn! i waited but at midnight they kicked everyone out without much patience. well that was the end of that.

apple- i had a card for a place i'd never heard of called apple. i went there and told the taxi to wait. i went to the bar, chatted with a women there about prices and closing time. i decide to leave.

body- taxi got pulled over on the way for making a uturn on an arrow. he bribed $5 to get out of it. he was really pissed and cursing the police. when i got out i told him to keep the change from a $5. i think at this point i had drank enough alcohol and red bulls that i was more interested in dancing than sex. there were a couple cute ones here. i had them put on salsa. a group of guys came in and one of them was one of the guys from club 155 with the ebstein afro hair. i went over and gave him a high five and he was just kind of like alright, whatever. then i realized that it was a different guy with ebstein hair. i showed him and all his friend the picture of the other dudes with ebstein hair and they thought it was hillarious. i negotiated a leaving price with one of the cute ones. i gave her $20 to pay the exit tab and said i'd give her the rest later at the hotel. then we sat and drank a while more. i can't remember why we were waiting, but at some point she started really grating on my nerves and said i wanted just a session in the room. she said she couldn't. she had already paid the exit fee. i finally just decided forget it and headed out.

nitekats- this used to one of my favorite places. now it's just awful. i took my drink and sat down and started looking around and thought 'man, this is bad'. most of the women looked to be over 40. nobody even halfway decent.

i got in a taxi and he said all that was open was brandis, extasis and 515. i should have chosen brandi's but the driver talked me into 515. or maybe it was extasis. i'm sure he gets a commision. extasis and 515 are so expensive. it's just foolish to go there. i only spent the entrance fee of $27 and took my 3 drinks. everyone asks for a propina at the end. i'm like 'come on. you guys already robbed me. ' i actually had a nice time chatting and dancing with a woman there. she was decent looking and gave me her number at the end. the women at the high end places are generally hotter but the prettiest woman at the $10 place above swing is much better looking than the ugliest woman at 515.

that was enough for one day.

yesterday more of the same. what can i add? the women at cafe rojo are hot, but man are they vapid. i walked in and no-makeup woman came over and seemed really happy to see me. i felt like there was a bit of chemistry. i invited her to papallacta today. the answer: "how much are you going to pay me?" i said forget it. that just kind of put me off. then i just started going for session after session. i had taken several viagra and thought i would put them to use. more of the same at club 155 and the place above swing. i did spot a woman i had known from my last trip. she used to work at cafe rojo but got kicked out for fighting and was now at 155. i had a 3 way with her and the woman with the wig. i don't know what more i could add that would be the least bit interesting.

today i am taking off. my body is worn out and needs to recuperate. i was out walking and passed vibracion. there was a salon nearby with a sign for $10 massages. yes! that was exactly what i needed. a non-erotic sensual massage. it was $10 for a half hour. my only interest was destressing. i went for a 90 minute one for $27 and gave a $5 tip. my goodness, that was good. if you want an erotic massage, i'm pretty sure it's available. i was in my underwear and at one point she pulled them off. they were pretty much off when she asked "is that ok?"." sure no problem." she was massaging some pretty sensual spots. if i'd had any energy at all, i'm sure i would have gotten hard. regardless, that was the best money i've spent since i've been here.

tomorrow is the last day. more of the same debauchery. perhaps a regular massage first. that was really good.

The local authorities are also trying that the clubs go outside the city, actually it is illegal that these places are in the city but with good lawyers they make the fight to stay). I read today that it was open but the police arrived (we`ll have to wait to see the outcome). Near the 122 is the Blush and some of the girls were working there (of course totally overcrowded) , but it was also closed last week; now the girls are all over the remaining clubs. The swincito and 148 were the last available near the place so now they are full but not a good option in my opinion.

The 122 did reopen today, I went in at 4, at 4:15 the place was raided by the policia and they brought along a TV crew, I didn't want to see myself on TV so locked myself in a bathroom, left after a half an hour. I looked up the street, same deal at the Blush. The Swing was open earlier but was locked up when I left. I was told that the 122 was operating without a business permit.

I left that place at exactly 4pm. I might have seen you walking in. There was a gringo with grey hair and a light colored jacket entering right through the door to the sidewalk at exactly 4pm and I thought,"there's a fellow hobbyist!". I guess I just missed the drama. I was going to head over this afternoon but now I'm not going to bother.
