Sosua Reports

Thanks Charles, Ronny for the answers. I finally booked my flight. I am landing in Santo Domingo and will flying back through Puerto Plata.

I only used miles for the one way going to SD. I will take Caribe bus to go from SD to Sosua. I just have few more questions:

1. Where should I stay. I need a chica friendly hotel. Close to the action. By close I mean walking distance. I know Charles had mentioned in one of his posts to just visit few hotels and chose. I have narrowed down my search to Casa Cayana and New Garden. My budget for the room is about $70 to 100 a night. Having a good room is important to me (I hate having sex on a crappy bed). But I am going to Sosua for the girls. So easy access is also important. I am targeting 3 to 4 girls a day for about 7 days (not sure if I will be able to keep up LOL). If I am too far from the action I won't be able to meet many girls.

What are the pro's and co's of both hotels. Room pictures of casa cayana look better than the New Garden pictures. And it says on the website that its in a quieter area. Is it because its too far or its just 2 or 3 blocks from the actions.

2. From what I read. All the brothels or similar places are closed. Except Blackbeards and FOD in Puerto Plata.

Are rumba and Classico the best hang out spot at moment? Is there another spot during the day (somewhere I can seat, have a drink and still be able to see many girls to chose from) or any suggestions on the top 5 hang out spot.

3. I speak no Spanish. But I do speak french and I have no preference on skin colors. I am like girls with ass.

Does speaking English and french enough to overcome my challenges with Spanish?

Yes, you can get by with French and English. There is a lot of vocabulary overlap between French and Haitian Kreyol, and to a lesser extent with Spanish, but still many words are similar as both are Latin languages. Restaurants have menus in English and sometimes also French, as well as Spanish, or you can just point.

The very first time Tempoecorto showed up in Sosua he just bashed away in a melange of Italian, English, and cartoon Mexican Spanish, plus a few words he had learned on the way from the airport and he was understood just fine. Now he speaks Spanish much better, I should add.

Both the hotels you mentioned are right in the center, so no real difference for practical purposes.

While the bars in the center seem to be in decline, the Rancho Tipico up next to where Passions used to be seems to be doing good business and is expanding. Good place to spend an evening having a few drinks or some food, socializing, dancing and maybe meeting a girl for late night fun. They have girls dancing, sometimes on the bar, for entertainment, and a generally good vibe. I'm not much of a bar person anyway, but it is more fun than those places in the town center.

On the other hand, I cranked up my Spanish by studying the AP Spanish book at home, one month prior to my first foray into the DR so what do you expect, LOL?

Going back to Paul Durand, he can try hitting the books to get heads up with Spanish and it should be a piece of cake for him (I'd run from anyone who speaks English in Sosua) and of course, try out the Haitians. His score qualitatively speaking, would be far superior with French, sans doute. If you recall there were a couple of Quebecois at the hotel Romanoff. Andre and the other who was going steady with a Haitian and he spoke an incomprehensible idiom but his Haitian love understood him well. I still remember the day when his divorce came through. He was overjoyed that he could stay with his Haitian.

Sosua suites across the street from Rockies are in an excellent location. $60 a night for a 1 bedroom apartment. Security is very good. I stay there all the time.

I am making myself a cheat sheet and will probably rely on google translate.

Hope I can get a sim card with a data plan once in Sosua. Someone on here posted a while back few Spanish sentences relevant to the hobby with translation in English.

Cheap.[/QUOTE]At the risk of being repetitious, try Rocky's, New Garden or Casa Cayenna, all within the $40-$60 range and you may be able to negotiate if they are not busy and if you stay more than a couple days.

Not the norm, but if you have the budget, and want a more "normal" vacation in the sun, with other activities like diving, fishing, surfing. You can stay at a higher end condo, villa or resort.

You can then come down to the strip, sit back with a beer, and point and click on anything that catches your eye and take them next door to the ST rooms for about 400 pesos. You can even take your beer with you, or they'll put it on ice.

If you're a serial fucker, this avoids the time and hassle of bringing a series of complete strangers back to your room, and getting them out again, (with the attendant risks) If the chica knows she's going next door for a very ST, her rates will be half, cause you'll both be back on the street in 20 minutes or so.

No awkward walks back to the hotel, no hiding your shit in the room, no ripoffs, no expected gifts, no motoconcho money and no expected propina.

More than covers the cost of the room. During the day, if it's slow, I've had them for as low as 500 pesos. I've even had ones I know for pizza money, if they're hungry enough.

From the bar on the corner I can take three young stunners in less than an hour and still be drinking the same beer in the same bar. On average at least one will be memorable.

So easy!

In Puerto Plata there is little choice. Best of a mediocre selection is Apart-Hotel Lomar, on the Malecon (see recent reviews here). Others are Portofino and Kevin, the latter in the city centre to save on transport. Then there is Field of Dreams, outside the city proper but conveniently situated to visit Sosua and Cabarete. He was talking about renting a bike, so its location should not be a problem for him, and it would be by far the most pleasant stay, though pricier. No compulsion to sample the house chicas, though a few are worth sampling.

I would highly recommend it for the budget conscious, standard room is 1500 pesos. Lomar also has two rooms with kitchens for 2000-2300 pesos a night depending on length of stay. The beds vary in quality from room to room, my last room the bed sucked, fortunately I was going to FOD for two nights for my divorce party which was off the chain by the way, hahaha. If one wants better accommodations such as a king sized bed with an american quality mattress without spending a fortune then I would stay at FOD but keep in mind that it is a wh0 rehouse so if you are bringing in non pros they might not appreciate it. One place in Puerto Plata that gets overlooked is Castillo Del Ambar, a nice place and all rooms have a basic kitchen, beds so-so, about the same price as a standard room at Lomar,1500 pesos.

Sorry, but I am fussy about beds, after all we spend a lot of time in them, right?

I'll be in Puerto Plata from Nov. 29th. December 20th and then I will return the first week of January and be there until April at least. If anyone wants to meet up on the malecon for a drink during that time feel free to pm Me, first few drinks on me.
