The traffic here is lighter, the cars aren't as tight and there aren't as many street vendors blocking your way between the cars. When you get up to the front on the left side you will see gates / barrier that separate the Sentri traffic from normal traffic. At that point, swing a left and get in line at the front with the normal traffic. Yes, it is allowed. Everyone does it. The CBP officer told me about it actually. It is the way to go if you are on 2 wheels.

First post, although I post quite a bit on the USA site. I just had my 2nd international mongering experience. My first was about 25 years ago, a total ripoff on Ave Revolucion. Pretty bad.

Last Monday I made the trip to HK. Immediately bought a VIP pass and got a jacuzzi room at the Hotel Cascadas.

The hotel is really pretty nice, but I must say the lack of windows, smoke detectors, and fire escapes kind of freaks me out. I'm in the construction biz so I notice those things. No windows, no balconies, bars on the windows. Ay caramba!

The club is unbelievable. I have never seen anything like it. The women are gorgeous and the place was rockin. After checking out the show for a while I spotted a beautiful chick with a perfect body and long curly hair that was tinted slightly pink. Her name was Gina and she said she was from Monterey. I tried to get her upstairs for. 6 but she wouldn't go for it. I caved and took her up to the room for. 8. She was hot but really pretty disappointing. She actually texted while I was banging her. Her body was nice, but her tits were bolt ons. It was fun but I learned to be more careful in my selection.

After a hour or two I went for round two. I spotted a very cute little brunette in a black bikini on the ramp railing. After scoping her a little I just went right up and got her up to the room for. 6. I think she said her name was Alex and she was from Monterey, but her accent was really thick and she spoke almost no english. She was great. Very nice body, all natural. I liked her a lot. I will definitely repeat with her if she's there next time I go.

Next I checked out the alley. What a place that is. There were fine babes every ten feet. Definitely not the quality of the HK girls, but still very doable. I got some dinner at the Sonora Grill, the food was great but no beer. Then I walked the alley again. At the end of the alley some dude who spoke perfect english tried to get me to leave the alley to go to his special "massage parlor" up the street. He was probably going to rob me, either that or try to minister to me. I think he said his parlor was at the "Chistian Hotel". I bolted and quickly made it back to Cascadas and the safety of the well lit alley.

I wasn't quite ready for round three, so I decided to get some sleep and come back closer to closing time. I waited too long and by the time I got up the club was closed. I headed out into the alley, which was now early morning daylight. Most of the girls were gone, but there was a skinny mayan looking SW perched in front of the dive across the alley from Cascadas. I took a walk all the way around the block to see if I could find anything better, but she was really the best available at that time of day, and she was decent looking. I quickly negotiated. 4 for FS and took her up to the room. Her name was Naomi and she came from somewhere I couldn't pronounce. She gave pretty good service, but definitely not the quality from the night before.

I took a taxi to the border at about 7AM, stopping on the way for a bottle of $23 US for a bottle of Hornitos tequila. That seemed really high to me, not much less than I pay in the US. The line at the border took forever. I think it was almost 10AM before I was across. Somebody please tell me some tips on how to avoid that line.

Definitely going back, as soon as I can. Can anybody give me a quick primer on what the tipping protocol is at HK? Who are we expected to tip, and how much?

2) If you go regularly, enroll in the SENTRI program and get a card. You can use the much faster and shorter SENTRI line.

3) There is a shuttle bus that costs $5. It takes 20-30 minutes. I've never used it, but it has been reported on this board a few times recently.

Every morning, about a bazillion people go to work on both sides of the border. At night, this same bazillion people go home to their respective sides. So, mornings before work, and evenings after, can be horrible. Also, some afternoons, the rest of Tijuana seems to have nothing better to do than to stand in line at the border, so some afternoons can also be hell. But I've found no way to predict that. Today, Tuesday, at 4:00pm, there was only a very short line at the turnstile. Go figure.

Overall, Tuesdays seem a bit lighter than other days, Sundays are the worst. Try to cross at night, from around 9:00pm to about 4:00am. Otherwise, the SENTRI card is about the only way to keep your sanity. You can go to the Mexicoach station on Revolucion and buy a ticket to San Ysidro. They'll take you, on the bus, across the border through the special bus lane. Some days it's long, others it's short. But still quicker and more comfortable than standing in that line.

Oh, and don't pay the guy $5 to take you to the front unless he guarantees to put you into a shuttle bus. Cutting into line can be risky, and today there was a security guard looking for just that. The line was short, so it wasn't a big deal today, but it could be.

Americans have taken tipping to stupid levels. Unfortunately, most of the zona bars are used to it and expect it. But don't get silly. This is still Mexico. A 10 peso tip per round of drinks is PLENTY! Half of that at a non-zona bar is OK. You're expected to tip $1 for the robe at the door, but I know guys who refuse. $1 for the cleaning boy is fine. Most Mexicans don't tip, or tip very modest amounts. So, I rarely tip the chicas, or tip small amounts like $5. If you're lucky enough to get a metered taxi, round up to the nearest 10 pesos, or so. If it's a fixed price, a tip is not necessary. At a restaurant. 20 or 30 pesos is plenty for a good meal, just a few coins for a small meal. Service charges are usually built into the prices already. Forget the 20% nonsense.

Oh, BTW. General rule of thumb: if a girls won't budge on price, she's no good upstairs. There are exceptions, but that seems to be the general consensus. In mexico, negotiating is a national sport. If she won't play the game, find somebody who will.

Agree on the occasional unpredictability of the line at the border. If you plan on going down there regularly, SENTRI is your friend, I am getting so used to it, wondered how I put up with not having it for so long.

$5 dollar shuttle guy, yes I got jipped once, if the bus lines are long, you are fucked anyway, it is not guaranteed.

On tips, these days, I have resolved to using pesos almost exclusively, and leaving around 5 10 pesos tip per drink, you know what, I don't know if its my imagination, or simply that I care less, but I somehow think that the meseros give me a little (but just a little) more respect when I do it, a $1 tip seems to put you in a "let's try to get as much money out of this monger as possible" group.

Hello gents! I haven't been to Tijuana since 2005 (ish). I'm planning on making a quicktrip there in a few weeks. Question about the taxis at the border. The last time I went, I was with a group of guys. We all piled into a cab at the border and we asked to be taken to Adelita's. The driver ended up taking us a few blocks outside La Zona and insisted on having us try out this "new club" that he knew the owner of. I said no, he drove us there anyway. Then out pops a big burly dude in a suit holding a clipboard (looking like the Mexican equivalent of the Secret Service) trying to usher us out of the taxi into a really sketchy looking "house" for lack of a better word. At any rate, I kept my composure, and insisted the driver take us to Adelita's, I told him we were not interested. Finally he relented after what seemed like an eternity and drove us to Adelita's.

My question is, how can I avoid this trap in the future? Since I'll be travelling on my own, I don't need this kind of stress, I'd like to know if there is a way to spot a taxi driver that will just take me to HK without being hassled. I've only been to Tijuana a handfull of times and most of those times I was pretty liuored up. That was back in the 90's, so I'm not too familiar with the streets, otherwise I'd probably just try to hoof it there. Follow up question, if anyone has left Cascada's in the morning, say 5-8 AM. Are there taxi's available to transpo to the crossing at that time in the morning?

You just got to be firm with them. I'm sure things have changed a lot since you've been back a few years ago. I don't think you should have anything to be concerned about.

Are there taxi's available to transpo to the crossing at that time in the morning?[/QUOTE]When you go through the first turnstile, you can go straight through the second one where there are a boatload of taxis, or you can turn right before the second turnstile, and go through that turnstile, where there are even more taxis. Tell the driver your price, most pay $5. 00 and tell him either Hong Kong or Adelita. Sit in the front seat like you own part of the cab. Usually they will not try to take you somewhere else; be firm.

In the morning, there will be plenty of taxis available to take you back to the border.

Here in Tijuana for a conference, but everyone left today so on my own. Just back to hotel (Camino Real) after night in the zone. Started night by walking down to "La Playa" liquor store for half-price tequila. Well worth checking a bag full on the trip home. Next, took taxi at Hong Kong at about 8:00. Already packed, and lots of hoties. Paid 50 pesos for cover / beer, and traded Coors light from the door for a Tecate. Wandered for a bit, and bought a drink for a beautiful young thing with perfect tits. She said she had only been there four days, but seemed to know her way around. She asked to go upstairs, and I asked the price. Started at 1000 pesos, but after countering with 600, she said the 1000 included the 180 for the room. Ok; I'm not one to quibble after getting my balls stroked for awhile.

We went to the hotel next door for what was promised to be 30 minutes. She was friendly, but far too efficient; I take the blame for the short session. However, she wouldn't stay for the rest of the time, saying she was hungry and had a sandwich waiting. Oh well.

After that, walked around to check out some of the other clubs. Abelitas was pretty crowded, but had a lower ratio to hotties. I walked the block looking for food, and realized that I didn't have enough cash for a second visit. So, I started talking to street girls. I am visiting San Diego and I decide to get up early to see the gold medal soccer match between Mexico and Brazil. I walk into the club right when Mexico scores in the first minute. I know it's 7 AM but I am expecting a huge crowd because Mexico has never won a medal at the olympics. It is a very sparse crowd and there is a minimum amount of hotties. I am watching upstairs and Amica walks by in her street clothes and gives me a hug. (She is in her 30's, always smiling, big tits) I haven't seen her in over a year. She comes back, we have a drink and go arriba. Since I wanted extra time with her I pay for the hour. 25 for the room, $ for her. We watch the second half of the game in bed having a great deal of fun. Mexico wins-the girls are happy, the staff is happy, the patrons are happy-but the knock still comes on the door after 60 minutes. Damn! Oh well, after a 70 minute wait at the border it is back to reality. I wish I could spend more breakfasts at HK.

This may be a little off topic but couldn't the clubs figure out a way to let the customers know what the wait time is at the border? I know that if I see that the wait time is 90 minutes or more I would spend a little more time and money in the club. After 9 PM it is a moot point because I have never had to wait more than 20 minutes but during the day it can be a nightmare getting back to the good ol' USA. Just my 2 pesos.

Instead of walking straight after the first turnstile, I turned and went to the one on the right.

I was a little timid to be haggling in the open about going to Adelitas, so my plan was to accept the first taxi offer, and do the negotiation on the way to his car.

I asked 'cuanto para ir a Adelitas'. $4 he said. $2 I countered. We settled on $3.
