Sabaneta is like, or even better, than Poblado, for half the price!
I have been to MDE a few times but most of my Colombia trips are focused on Cartagena. On my last MDE trip, I spent some time with a family, who I had met previously, and the daughter in the family told me that she and her BF, a paisano, had recently moved from El Poblado to Sabaneta. They both still work in Parque LLeras area and have professional jobs. At the time, I thought Sabaneta was a rural area, outside of MDE, but recently discovered this community actually has light rail connections to central MDE, less expensive long term accommodations, and most important a lively night life on the weekends with many clubs and restaurants located in and around a bustling town plaza. I was under the impression from researching this area that many middle class paisanas also go to the dance clubs and restaurants though no mention of P4 P but, nevertheless, the chance to meet regular girls sounds appealing.
I am wondering if any BM's live or hang out there and can offer opinions about Sabaneta. In addition to the other features I mentioned above, it is said to be less polluted and hectic than central MDE and has a small town feel though with easy access to El Poblado etc.
My only concern about Sabaneta appears to be the weather. On my weather app, it appears that constant rain or chance of rain seems to be a prevalent weather pattern here (for the next ten days) or is the spring time considered rainy season.
The Family that have "adopted" me has their family base in Sabaneta. The barrio is new, fresh, have all you need. I strongly recommend it. Another place, where this family has is restaurant is arround Estadio Girardot; it's close to Parque Natural, Apartahotel Montes (which is a new hotel with low prices, a lot of business men often open have a beer with their prepagos on the little outside cafe / restaurant, which I never seen before so openly), the new massage place and good old Energy (nowadays overpriced), and a little area called Suramericana where you can rent apartments cheap. Lot's of bars and small restaurants. And you can walk to La 70 in 10 min. Sabaneta feel like the realistic place for an mddle income western guy, for vacation or long-term stays, living permanently. Poblado: It's even more expensive than "at home", especially the malls. And it's far away from everything! So why go there? To met other extranjeros and see your bank account get empty very fast, making the experience a tradgedy. Anyway, despite poverty and violence, Medellin has a vibrant nightlife and dirt cheap taxi, tennis, gym filled with 3/4 nude babes, malls, Juan Valdez, Parque Explora and many many other things. Besides having the best climate in the world (a slighly minus for the height 1500 m above sea level). Sabaneta is well worth a try after some further investigations. Medellin is growing at a fast pace, but it not always turns out well. A part of Bello fell apart 2012, due to building in areas with heavy water pressure coming down into the valley Aburra and are a constant problem, since cheating with the construction-quality has been abundant due to the huge demand after 2002, and the population density is extreme, so we might see new Sabanetas growing up or old poor barrios up on the hills change status. And paisas will always be willing to have sex with extranjeros, it's in their DNA. And being overall good looking this is Paradise Medellin (Old Frank Casio term). Many the same or even better basic conditions exist in Arequipa, Cusco in Peru, but the girl are not hot, it's like they have a different DNA, and nor are they beautiful, and if they are, they become arrogant. Arequipas sexscene is like 1% of Medellin's. (But there shall be a good place under "the old bridge" that I missed, but the girls there -are said to be from- Colombia).
Also look at around a place in Laureles that is called "El Cafetero". It's has a Bodytech gym and Exito and a EPS (health care) center. Further up the avenue there are restaurants, bars etc. Santa Teresita it's called and are coming on strong. If you like the gym, go there before the girls go to work and you will see enough female beauty than you do in a costly night at Parque Lleras.
Many place I know, are shown to me by paisas and paisa-friends. So the language is the key!
"you all" is actually slang
In English, "you" is both singular and plural, depending on who you are addressing. Some say "you all" is a Southern saying, but people in the North use it also.
