Not to be a total scare-monger, but this travel warning just out from the US State Department. These warnings come out from time-to-time regarding all vacation-spot countries where danger presents itself. One can sign up to receive travel alerts from the State Dept website. This warning, coupled recently with the Loreto (near Butuan) mayor (and his special-needs son) being kidnapped (taken from their home in Butuan) / tortured / killed by fake NBI officers (believed to be New People's Army personnel) should be at least *some* warning for newbs not to travel to the small provincial towns of Mindanao on their first visit. Sticking to CDO / Davao on a first visit, then venturing out to smaller towns on subsequent visits, would seem wise.
[I]
The Department of State warns U.S. citizens of the risks of travel to the Philippines, in particular to the Sulu Archipelago, certain regions and cities of the island of Mindanao, and the southern Sulu Sea area. This Travel Warning replaces the Travel Warning dated May 20, 2015, and reflects continuing threats in those areas due to terrorist and insurgent activities.
U.S. citizens should continue to defer non-essential travel to the Sulu Archipelago, due to the high threat of kidnapping of international travelers and violence linked to insurgency and terrorism there.
Based on a history of kidnappings and attempted kidnappings of foreigners in the Eastern Sabah province of Malaysia and in the southern Sulu Sea area by terrorist or insurgent groups based in the Sulu Archipelago, U.S. citizens should continue to exercise extreme caution if considering travel in the southern Sulu Sea region from the southern tip of Palawan, along the coast of Sabah, Malaysia and the islands of the Sulu Archipelago, up to Zamboanga City, Mindanao.
U.S. citizens should also continue to exercise extreme caution if traveling to certain regions and cities of the island of Mindanao. Separatist and terrorist groups continue to conduct bombings, kidnappings and attacks against civilians, political leaders, and Philippine security forces. Over the past nine months, at least 15 separate kidnappings have been reported across Mindanao. In western Mindanao, terrorist, insurgent, and criminal gangs regularly conduct kidnappings for ransom, including the kidnapping of a foreigner in Dipolog City in early October 2015 by unknown assailants. In central Mindanao, the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) remain active in the Cotabato City area, and in the Maguindanao, North Cotabato, and Sultan Kudarat provinces, where the government maintains a state of emergency and a greater police presence. While there have been no recent reported terrorist threats or incidents within the Davao City or Surigao city limits, eastern Mindanao is not free from threats. In September 2015, assailants believed to be members of the Abu Sayyaf Group kidnapped four individuals from the popular resort island of Samal, a 15 minute boat ride from Davao City. Two other individuals narrowly escaped kidnapping in the same incident. There have been no reports of U.S. citizens in Mindanao targeted specifically for their nationality; however, general threats to U.S. citizens and other foreigners throughout Mindanao remain a concern.
Although U.S. government officials in the Philippines travel to Mindanao for official business without incident, the Embassy has imposed a strict restriction on all but the most essential travel to the area, and Embassy employees must receive special authorization from Embassy security officials to travel to any location in Mindanao and the Sulu archipelago.
We strongly recommend that U.S. citizens traveling to or residing in the Philippines enroll in the Department of State's Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). STEP enrollment gives you the latest security updates, and makes it easier for the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate to contact you in an emergency. If you don't have Internet access, enroll directly with the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
I will be spending a few nights in the Cebu City Marriott next to Ayala mall. Where's the closet place to find a new friend for the evening?
The nearest place would be to just ask one of the doormen to send you someone. I have no ideas about closet friends!
The nearest place would be to just ask one of the doormen to send you someone. I have no ideas about closet friends!
Well DG, what if the doorman is a LB? Bakla? And what if the Marriott is not GFE? Big questions ad huge worries for him?
The nearest place would be to just ask one of the doormen to send you someone. I have no ideas about closet friends!
Oops, sorry. I meant closest. But maybe it would be fun to bring someone into the closet. Any activity in the mall?

There is a separate Cebu thread so appear you have not even found that and the FRs there are full of the information you keep asking) 10 FRs and counting). Try RTFF again as am sure even you can find the Cebu thread and there all the girl action is noted.
A tip. Advanced search is near the top of the page.

I'm in the process of planning my trip, will be in 7 different places. I have the info now on all of them except one. Anyone have info on Tagaytay. Where's the best place to find girls there?
Well DG, what if the doorman is a LB? Bakla? And what if the Marriott is not GFE? Big questions ad huge worries for him?
WR,
He asked for the nearest place! LB have some of the most beautiful friends too. Plenty of what if's in this world! You either learn from other people's (rtff) experience or your own experiences.
Dg8787.
Ps. Bakla would be a closet thing and should be kept there.

Why don't you try RTFF and then visit and post lots of FRs and the people will take you seriously.
I think these who know Cebu know the mall.
It looks like Cebu is now slipping in here under the title of "Other Areas". Not good.
I think it was a big mistake pushing Cebu off the main index and into a two click away "Link to the Cebu Forum". The consequence has been a major drop off in Cebu contributions. And now we have Cebu postings inserted here in this Other Areas forum. If Cebu was repositioned within the main thread you can clearly see when new postings occur, but locked away in a subsidiary Cebu thread you can't see if there is a new posting without scanning there. For me it means I seldom use the Cebu link.
Perhaps WR you can take this up with Jackson, as I think you were one of the key ones advocating a separation?

At present there are 7 separate Cebu sections under the one heading with around 15 sub-sections but they are all contained under the Cebu heading.
I like it as a separate thread. If we go back to how it was we will have Cebu-general, Cebu bars, Cebu restaurants etc all over the main page. It's easy to find on the main Philippines index, same as AC or Makati or Manila etc.
I vote leave it how it is.

The Cebu thread is fine ad I concur with RK.
The issue is that this poster is clearly brain dead and does not even RTFF and is lazy all at the same time!! If he had a odium of gray matter he would see the link to Cebu. I should / could have moved it but this thread gets little attention.
So hopefully he gets the message and stops asking question (all or 90+% o hos FRs are same type questions with nothing given all 'take'.
So am happy Cebu is where it is KK and yes I was one who supported the moving of the thread as it was a pickle.
Now onto more important issues. RWC who will win (and I know it won't be the Poms gents but remember I do have dual nationality when I need it LOL). UBt I did like the fact the Frogs were heavily spanked (not literally or WR or Cunning style).

Most of my friends who went there bring their own ladies and I don't think it is an mongering area.

.
Cebu tread is not fine and it is dead. Despite to my experience around Cebu area, I refuse to follow and post in a nonsense location. You have a great knowledge and you post there. Don't you wish more people would join and participate to your postings?
