Just got back from Phuket's Bangla Street. I had a few encounters with escorts and I visted a few massage parlors off Bangla. I had a great time.

In the bar A Go Go a girl can be had for 1500. 2000 Baht + a 600 Baht Barfine and another 600 Baht for a room. I enjoyed picking out the girl from a line up. I remembered tha I had to buy her a drink for some inflated price of 250 baht or something like that. The girls were very pretty here and no Ladyboys.

I also enjoyed Soi Eric. It was like a food court that served hookers instead of food. A girl could be had here for 1500 baht and a 500 baht bar fine. The girls were not as cute and there were plenty of lady boys but still some gems to be found. I took a girl home here for 1500. She wanted me to pay her fine and pointed at a bar. I refused to pay her bar fine because she was out in the street in front of Soi Eric (maybe she paid this herself later) but I said your not even in the bar. 1500 or I pass and she came with me. Interesting to note is that if you take a girl back to your room you will have to pay a fee. I returned with the girl to my hotel at 2am and I sliped the guard 200 baht to get her in.

I really enjoyed to the massage scene. If the parlor has young girls you get a so-so massage but they also offer of sex. If she is old you can get a better massage w / o the sex option. There are 100s of these parlors. I went to one place and had a oil massage for 250 baht and a hand job from a topless girl for another 750 baht. After she did an hour foot massgae for like 150 baht + a few Hong kong dollars I had left over. She offered to go out with me for the evening with one of the other massuses for an additional 500 baht. She promised a 3sum but I would have to buy drinks. I decided not to do this after some thought. I fell in love with another massuse instead later that week. She was at a legit place. Its a long story but after my massage I refused to leave and I begged for more attention to you know who. We kissed exchanged numbers and she gave me the best hand job ever. I learned later that she may have been a LB! You can't tell. You just can't tell.

Beware of girls that string you along and get you to buy them drinks with the promise of coming home with you later. I got roped into this scenerio once. Also bewarf of Ladyboys. You can tell sometimes but not all the time. I was fooled once maybe twice.

Anyway your question. I spent 3 nights on Patong beach and there are all kinds of families hanging out (not on Bangla st) and there are all kinds of attractions for families and couples. This is a good cover! Now as far as massage parlors. There are all kinds. A local told me the following: If the young girls are hanging out in front they are selling a massage + sex. If you see older woman they are doing massage. I went to a massage shop that does sex and also went to a massage shop that was a legitimite parlor. In both parlors I ran into people that where there for legitimate massage w / o sex. The first site was an obvious sex shop. A female flight attendant sat down next to me and was recieveing a foot massage from the the shop owner. Visited phunphon soi 11 in Phuket City.

It is a place mostly for thai locals.

I would not recommend inexperienced tourists go there. But if you've been around the block in Thailand and are looking for a new adventure and want to do it like the locals do, it's an interesting experience.

It's basically a small soi with about 5 girly bar places on both sides. There are big glass windows and couches. When I drove through they were all empty. A few mamasan / papasan types sitting out front. A couple of them said something to me. Saw about 2 or 3 girls sitting outside too. Did not see any customers.

Drove back and stopped in front of a place. Sitting out front was one old short guy who was kind of like yoda but without any jedi skills. No English. Motioned me to follow him and walked into one of the houses which had a long hallway with doors on the right side. Very basic. I was pretty scared at this point. Could have been attacked or robbed very easily. But luckily I was in Thailand and not Latin America, so no problems.

The guy knocked on one of the doors and started talking to a girl inside. Since I wasn't given any kind of choice, I was worried she'd be a seacow and I'd have to awkwardly try to get the guy to show me someone else. But she was petite and young and quite cute. Was worried she was too young at first, but said she was 21 and it seemed accurate once I got a good look at her. I went into the room and the guy said 600. Gave him a thousand and was worried again about getting change, but he went away for a minute and came back with it. Of the 600, he gave the girl half in front of me. Again, if you haven't been in Thailand too long I wouldn't advise it. But if you already know what you're doing and want to try something not aimed at tourists, check it out.

It seems that she provided only the minimum service, so, in that case, even a 200 baht tip would have been already too much in this kind of place.

About tipping in the local brothels, I had a discussion some time ago in private messages with another ISG member and I suppose that some parts of those exchanges might be useful for other ISG members as well.

Being the Cheap Charlie that I am I am not a tipping kind of guy, but those guidelines laid down by Goyave would seem plausible if I was. A construction worker for instance has to work a full day to get only 200 baht.

Any idea why she'd be content making only 300-500 per session? It seems like she could work almost anywhere else and make a lot more.

In most local brothels in my area, they don't make more than 200 baht per customer (without tips). It's usually half the price paid by the locals, but sometimes even less.

The girls that you usually find in the local brothels are coming from very poor areas (even if your provider is from Chiang Mai province, it's very likely from a small village and she's probably not much educated). Moreover, they usually don't speak any English or just a few words. But sure, if they could work in the tourist-orientated scene, they would certainly earn much more. Provided that they can also perform better (us, foreigners, usually require more things than the locals).

Anyway, you should know that even only 200 baht is not a ridiculous amount of money for those girls, especially for a tip.

Firstly, I already stated where I live in at least one of my earlier posts (just use the advanced search function with the good keywords and you should find it). Moreover, it's not very difficult to guess where my favorite playgrounds are located by reading some reports of mine in the Isaan thread.

Secondly, but not least important, I would like that people do their "homework" (= reading and retrieving the relevant information in the Isaan thread) before going there. I don't say that you wouldn't do that, but some lazy punters might not, and would just rush to the local brothels in my area without knowing the ropes, and it's how the best places go downhill eventually. Misinformed customers are easy preys and often pay more than the regular prices. If there is an affluence of this kind of visitors, the inflated prices soon become the "standard" prices for foreigners, and I want to avoid that as much as possible. I don't visit anymore some of the most renowned places of my area because now, the price there for Farang customers is almost twice than what it used to be just two years ago, and that's absolutely not justified (comparing to similar, but lesser-known, places offering the same quality of providers in the same town).
