My question is, as I'm staying near the Placa Catalunya, what's the best way to get there? Cab with drivers that might try to take me to other places? Public transportation? Or are there places closer to Placa Catalunya? I think I read that Leprivee is somewhat close, but Arizala 74 seems like one of the safest and best bets.

From there it's just a 5- 10 mnts walk in a nice neighbourhood to TD at 68 Sant Eusebi. Make a search on Google Maps for the specifics, or google "Metro Barcelona".

After TD you may walk down the street of Carrer Aribau which has a few pick-up bars often mentioned in this thread. Line-ups can be good, but prices are hilarious. After TD you will know why. La Vie en Rose is also in the neighbourhood and a better option IMHO.

Taxi fares in BCN are also fairly inexpensive.

Oxyzen (if still open) is just a 10 mnts walk from Plaza Catalunya if in a hurry, but TD provides much more value for money IME (line-up, service and facilities). Oxyzen often does not have more than 2- 3 girls, but you may find a jewel if lucky. TD has a much better selection.

Mutaner14 is even a bit closer from Plaza Catalunya if you are into Chinese girls. Cheap place, but the line-up does not meet my standards unfortuneately, and I usually end up walking out.

A74 is also doable by PT, but a bit more tricky from Plaza Catalunya. Usually Felina is a better #2 pick for me than A74.

Spent two evenings in Barcelona, here are my top pics suitable for people that like the club atmosphere instead of just going to a flat and being offered a line-up of girls:
