On another note, I tried to keave for Colombia Saturday and wasnt allowed. Yes Brazil passengers / transit are banned from entering. Even with a connection to panama. So ill have to enter a non colombian country via direct flight.

I'm in lapa right now at hotel atlantico, seems like a great budget and girlfriendly option. I was staying at Arena hotel Leme. They seem to be abit uptight and more locked down with security.

Tenative plan. Closest country that has access to Colombia. Panama, peru etc.

I haven't confirmed the specifics to enter after being in Brazil (but obviously you should be able to). Ill keep you updated, since my max stay here is the end of this week.

The border closure took place Jan 29th. I purchased my ticket post 29th with expedia. Yes, they let you buy tickets to Colombia, absolute nuts. Comped a 1 year credit.

I might suggest, closing the COLOMBIA leg of your flight. They stopped me after i told them my final destination. Itndoes depend on your departure date. I read through the jan 29th ban, and i think there was a time limit on it (believe a month)....

Just drove down with Uber. As I was on the street had to say wtf is this. Couldn't imagine self mongering there, as I didn't feel safe. At the end passed mosiac and almost tried to stay. But the 2nd opinion of my uber driver got me to go, he said they were ugly. Def didn't feel safe for me. My uber said it seems dangerous for a gringo, I didn't see much outside. Maybe I totally missed something inside going on. Good laugh btwn driver and I. We were frantically looking for anything open. Everything seems to be shut on Sundays. I've read about the HELP days, wish there was something like that now! Maybe ill end up somewhere in hour.

Well, all is well in Rio.
