Thanks. Well, I don't remember the name of the bar, but it's straight on the corner with the Sait Efendi road. It's as far north as you can get in that short Ihtisapagasi sok and, as I said, on the same side of the street as Irmak. The price of the room was, alas, not included. The room cost me an additional 70 YTL. So, total damage: 120 + 70 = 190 YTL, or around 110 euros for two hours.

One last thought: bring your own rubbers! The girls are getting worryingly sloppy about this. Medina and several other pros told me that they'd prefer to fuck without protection, and if I insisted I could buy the equipment myself (from the hotel at exorbitant prices). Well, what you like and you don't like is, of course, your own private business. There seem to be some on this forum who take pains to extoll the virtues of certain escort networks featuring CIS girls that seen to be in operation in Istanbul. The Romanians at Seranda are, as we know, not very service minded and in my experience it is more expensive than what one should reasonably pay in Istanbul.

Everything seemed kosher, well-lighted, lots of people outside, uniformed staff, as stated russian and turkish girls dancing 2-3/10 (fully clothed). However, that was where the normality ended. Within 2 minutes, coca-colas and pestachios were served, 3 russian girls forced into our bench seats, and watered-down Turkish "Champaine" served for all three.
Immediately, all the neck hairs went up, full staff. I quickly began saying alot of NO, and spoke to my Sr. in spanish that it was past time to vacate the premises. I figured if I don’t ask they’ll think I know the cover having been there before and will give me minimum punishment, it was 35 an entrance as he pointed at the sign on the door when I said it was 30 last time.

Went in, now the experience starts, so the place is a dump (set your expectations low) they stack people next to one another that you are literally rubbing shoulders with the guy next to you (this was a Friday night so maybe its not as bad during week days) I asked for a better seat and handed the guy a tenner which he was happy to take and told me stay here for a while I will find you a better table “I promose” or I promise!

Took my seat, and ordered a beer as the cover includes one drink, they bring nuts and popcorn so you can enjoy the show taking place on the disco floor! The scene it’s a 2x2 meter arena where the girls are moving their bodies with minimal effort (slow dance) and the guys standing around them to see them up close and personal to negotiate the deal. There are two reasons for the high prices. First, the local talent is very scarce because of the social conservatism of the poorer parts of Turkey. Girls have to be imported from CIS and Romania, and in CIS there has been an incredible explosion of prices in recent years. Second, the pimping is extensive. Several layers of middlemen, protectors, etc. take a cut.

It's all explained in earlier postings, but OK, this is becoming a long thread so let me recapitulate. The first rule of action is, never ever enter a bar or disco that has hawkers standing on the pavement. They always try to rip you off. As for the moderately honest places, you may take a look at the map I posted many years ago: it's the first of the "distinctions" postings.

In response to your direct questions, no, you don't pay entrance fees (except for Seranda, Balance and Bacardi). You just walk in and wait for a waiter to seat you. Don't be alarmed if he puts you at a table with other men (or girls); this is customary in Istanbul. You will not be charged for other people's drinks. However, you will be charged for a little snack of roasted nuts or something like that that they bring you with your drinks. This is not optional (except in my case for Big Pub where they have known me for years...); you should consider the price of the nuts as a cover charge. Some of the slightly more tricky places may try to bring you 2-4 kinds of snacks. This is where it may get expensive and, unless you are genuinely hungry, you should refuse the offering and point to one kind of snacks: "no thanks, I'll just have that one".

Once you're seated, look around with a positive interest. Once upon a time I thought one should be discrete (e.g. like in western Europe) and not glare at the girls. This, I found out, led several providers to think me haughty and take offense. Some of the girls will ignore you. They may be otherwise engaged or perhaps just don't like the way you look. But most will look at you with some interest. This initial 5-10 minutes of exchange of looks will tell you who is interested in your custom. You may of course at any time ask a waiter to invite any given girl to your table, and the girl has no right to refuse, but I would recommend against it if she hasn't shown an interest.

Once you have decided on a girl, catch her eye and signal to her that she is welcome to take a seat next to you. In some bars this can also be done by buying a rose from a waiter and ask him to deliver it. However, the girl doesn't care about the rose; it's merely an extra expense for you. The price of your own drink+snacks will be anywhere from 10 to 20 YTL. There's no fixed rule for foreigners: they'll bill you a bit extra - how much depends on the waiter, and whether they know you and/or wish to see you again. The girl's drink will be an extra 20-30 YTL. Because of the cover charge and because of the expensive lady's drink you are well adviced to pick one place and take your time. Bar hopping can come very expensive. (I once burnt through 300 YTL in one evening without even bedding a girl: I wanted to sample the local bars...)

As for the hotels, there are some 10-15 of them in the immediate neighbourhood. The girls will normally not come to your own hotel unless it's a truly five star businessman's place (they are guest friendly and discrete) on account that there's too much risk of attracting attention. Also, her bar/pimp will not want her to leave Aksaray unless it's for the whole night. The normal course of events is that you settle for so-and-so much time and let her pick the hotel. In my case I always ask for "two hours", which according to the girl may mean either two clock hours or two pops. At any rate, it secures you an unrushed service. The minimum price for two hours these days is 100 YTL, but they'll try to charge you up to 150. My policy is to bargain a bit, but not to the point of appearing like a cheapskate.

You walk together to the hotel, or if it's a bit further away the waiters call a taxi to the door. You absolutely need a passport to get a room. The room will set you back another 70 YTL. The hotels are "honest" in the sense that they don't actively rob you or hassle you in any material way. They may try to sell you a drink, rubbers, etc. in which case you'll find the girl is quietly assisting them. This she has to do in order to maintain a working relationship with the place. What I usually do (and it usually works) is to keep a 5 YTL note handy as a tip for the guy who shows you to your room. This normally satisfies him and curbs his appetite for trying to sell you things.
