Oyenk, thanks.. dank je. Does this mean that Indosat may have the better connectivity within buildings? That's quite interesting.. What happened to me was this, I didn't tell I was in Jakarta and my hp had defaulted to ProXL.

Coming down the escalator in Atrium with a latest mall 'conquest', may not be the best time to answer your phone, so I had it diverted to voicemail. I thought, but the person trying to call me presumed I was in Australia, got the message that the number was unreachable, spoken in Indonesian "Nomor yang anda.. coba beberapa saat lagi, atau tekan satu etc.."

Your experiences in Atrium Senen, I presumed that ProXL has not covered this area better. About voicemail I believe you may change the language to English (or you may even record your own voice)...I think all of the provider support these.

I am another dreaded first time poster. Had a subscription for a couple of years but not visited Jakarta for far too long so nothing to say. This forum has been the only way I can keep up with all thats goings on. I've had multiple visits since the mid 80's and lived there for 6 years in the 90s but had few chances to visit since then. But I'm visiting in early May and have 9 days on my own before I have to move on. The visit is part holiday and part business and I have an interview for a job. 2+ years in Jakarta. Yeh!

Two questions please

After a few days in Jkt I fancy a visit to the beach, possibly Carita or Pagandaran via Bandung. Many a fruitful evening spent in the Maribu (? ). I've not seen any reports on entertainment/action possibilities in either resort and I've searched. Any thoughts or other alternatives?

I always drove myself in Jkt and Java when not on business. Is it still safe to drive yourself and any recommended local car hire companies?

If anything happens thats interesting I promise I will post a report; but if it's VERY interesting I might keep it to myself.

Blok M is in South Jakarta and all the fuve star hotels having their pubs which include, Tiga Pulu, CJ's, BATS etc are all located in South Jakarta. You could hit the Bok M pubs and have your share of fun. Lots of info in the threads. Just check it out
