Has anyone recent experience of staying at Yensabai Condotel. A condo that's close the WS?

The rooms with kitchen, and a communal pool come in about 15k per month not including utilities which is a pretty good deal, so I am surprised there's not that much talk of it in the different forums on Pats. The only fishy thing I have read about it is of reports of people jumping to their deaths from balconies, and that the yensabai road isn't too safe. But that was written in the early 2000s.

So anyone got an update?

I first stayed at the Queen Victoria on Soi 6. I would have stayed there my entire trip (one month) if not for the lady in charge at the front desk. I was to switch rooms and the day before she says to me that I switch tomorrow, but not too early. I said OK. The next morning I wanted to wander off, but thought I should check to confirm the time I need to switch rooms. Initially it was to happen at noon. When I asked her about it, she raised her voice and rudely said I told you yesterday, didn't you listen to me? I don't remember what else the bimbo said as I walked away. I asked one of the other staff there if the manager was around and she said no, he comes in late on Sunday if he comes in at all.

I then go back to the lady who is at the front desk and tell her I will be checking out today before noon and I want my money back (I paid for the length of my stay). She then changed her voice and said I could have another room if I wanted. I said no that I was not going to be a paying customer and then have someone there be rude to me for no reason. She tried to convince me to stay, yet not apologizing for her rudeness. I told her I was leaving and would be out before noon and wanted my money. She got my money and I walked down to second Road and talked to the lady at Da taxi and arranged for a taxi to pick me up at 11:00. I had looked at several other hotels while I was at the QV, but just decided to stay there. I had the taxi take me to R-Con Residence.

I stayed at the R-Con Residence on Buakao. The room I had was 650 Baht / night. They have a monthly rate, but I didn't ask about it. My room was a good size room, but the bathroom was a bit small. The worse part for me was the light in the bathroom above the sink. If it had a brighter light I would have stayed there longer and I told them that. The in room safe had a key and was not the electronic type. That is another minus for me. I'm not into watching tv much, but there were no channels on the tv that were of interest to me.

I stayed several days at the Diana Dragon on Soi Diana. The room size was big enough and the light over the sink was good. The room was 650 Baht / day and that included breakfast. Unfortunately I only ate breakfast one time due to the french toast being cold, the potatoes were also not hot. This was a disappointment and not the same as it was when I ate there in March. The bathroom also had some odor.

I stayed at the R-Con Blue Ocean and discovered what a disaster this place is. They had a special on their web site as of May 15 for 990 Baht for a room. I was at the entertainment center next to it, so decided to go check on a room. They told me I could have a room for 700 Baht. I told them I would check in in two days.

They need to gut the place and redesign the plumbing system as there is a terrible sewer gas smell in the room quite often. I asked the lady at the front desk about it and she said discreetly as she looked around first, cheap charlie, as in poor design. She said all the rooms are like that. If anyone pays the regular price listed on their web site, they are crazy. The noise from the entertainment on both sides of the hotel is an issue, but nothing like this smell. I warned all the ladys about it before going to the room and all commented about it before they had left the next day. I would constantly be putting water in the floor drain in the bathroom to help stop any odors that may be coming from it due to syphonage from an improperly designed / installed plumbing system. I won't be back to this place.

The R-con Residence is the best of the places I stayed this trip and I would stay there again except I would get a lamp or something so I can see better at the sink. I don't like shaving in dim light. The R-con Blue Ocean and Residence are different ownership according to a lady that worked at both places.

I only stayed there one night myself. The staff were pretty cool in my opinion and I would stay there again. Of course I'm not defending the rudeness you encountered. That is not excusable and she knows it was her mouth that cost them that income. Quite stupid really to treat customers like that.

By the way, did you meet the Brit who owns it? Nice guy. He helped me out when I didn't want to provide credit card to secure my booking. Ended up Western union him the balance. Even got some change!

There are a lot of other hotels. The R-Con Residence has bigger and much nicer rooms for the same money and they have an elevator. Casa De Lobos on Soi Honey has some decent rooms in the same price range.

There were a bunch of ladyboys hanging around the street where you enter after hours on the fire escape. They didn't bother me but it was uncomfortable.

All this talk of Pattaya makes me wish I was drinking a beer and playing pool down there in Willys Hangout. If it is still there that is.

One thing I didn't mention about R-Con Blue is that the bathroom sink was partially plugged all the time I was there. I mentioned it to the front desk lady at least three times and she said she would tell the maid. The maid would clean around the drain opening, which did no good at all. I could run maybe a pint of water and it would start backing up. I told the front desk that they need a plumber not the maid to fix it. The trap was most likely the problem. I would have fixed it myself, but I was afraid the gasket could be damaged and I didn't have one to replace it with. I also asked for a light bulb that was missing, but never got that either. I thought about buying one, but never did.

But if you plan on staying don't worry about a gasket. Next time just go to 7/11 and get yourself a packet of drain opener, crystal form, cost is about 35 baht. Turn the tap on and let the water back up some let it drain until it stops and then pour the crystal packet in the drain and in a second or so problem will be solved. Works everytime! As for the light bulb yes get one or move out of the dump?

The rental was 14. 500 Baht for 1 month. And I think the price was very good, as I stayed there 27 days. I paid also some baht for electricity and water. I recommend definetely Yensabai Condotel.

Yensabai has also some cheaper rooms to stay (They call those cheaper rooms as "Mansion"). First I stayed in a "Mansion", but I couldn't like to be there, so I moved to a Condotel. Avoid Yensabai "Mansion". But stay at a Condotel. And enjoy your time in Pattaya.

I contacted them and was told a 6 month contract was necessary.
One month rent plus one month rent deposit required.
Otherwise, it is 950 a day.

Doing my own research and have found decent and moderately priced hotels in the major cities. But I got to figure out which are the safer ones, for non thai of course, which is looking to be quite the task.

I'll be hitting you guys up for suggestions a little later, if you don't mind.

Obviously we are not speaking about the same place.

Be aware, that Yensabai have many condotels to different prices. My guess is that they inform you about the condotel which is 78 squaremeter: http://www.yensabaipattaya.com/property-detail.php?id_property=87

Later on I have visited BKK, pattya etc prime points. Last couple of years (Even in period of red shirt movement) I never found any unsafe situation in Thailand. Just you need to stay with in touristic neighborhood.

Like any other city if you like to invite troubles, or try to stupid things, might be you are in problem. You need to know how to play safe.

Staying at the above, nice hotel.

Would I return, probably not as too far from the action seem to spend all the time on the Baht busses.

Room is very good but I miss a jucuzzi or bath to throw them in.
