The fact that the cartel stood there for an hour giving zero fucks that the police were on there way to the scene gave me some cause for concern. Look you can't blame a girl for trying to get the most money she can and then being told NO. It's easy. I saw two Asian guys being led by 2 aggressive girls up to a room. My first time here, I got baited by an Ro Asian-hunter. Nobody ever taught me or gave me tips. I have used Uber in Germany but most often it is from my hotel to a location. Unlike in the US where I have a Uber at my doorstep in a few short minutes, it takes a long time for Uber to come to me in DE based on MY personal experience. Simply stated, there are not as many Uber drivers there as we do here it seems and the nearest Uber is still several miles away in many of my use cases.

I am curious if this hostility of taxi drivers to Uber is pervasive in DE. The incident described by the other gent here is not unique in anyway from what I read: he called Uber, Uber came, there were taxis nearby who became hostile. If so, do such incidents happen fairly regularly?

I am surprised the Uber driver hung around so long. He could have told the passenger to get out of the car on the grounds that the rider is unable to leave the premises for whatever reason and forfeited the fare and just leave. If he gets an earful from his customer service, he can explain.

What happened. 45 minutes is a long time to be waiting, especially when confronted by angry cabbies who may become violent. I think from the cabbies pov, it is late night, they wait a long time for those exiting the club but the riders leave in Uber and the taxi waited for nothing. If this persists, taxis would no longer be waiting at the curb.

I wish that would not happen because at 4 AM I find those taxis to be very convenient even if the fare is a few bucks more than Uber.

I am not sure it is easy to take sides in this case. Yes, Uber is legal and hence blocking a legal vehicle can be considered illegal. I think the cabbies probably take the stance that it is an unfair law, and think of themselves like the protesters in HK who are blocking legal passengers at airports, roads, work places etc.

In Phoenix where Google was testing driverless cars Waymo, many locals have been trying to disrupt by puncturing the waymo tires, deliberately trying to run the Waymo off the road, being hostile to the driver who sits in Waymo for emergency handling, etc. When technology is threatening livelihood, people take such actions. I don't condone them but it is happening and will happen even more in future.
