My observations have been that more non-US citizens go with the Haitians, however, the US citizens I have met and know in Sosua appreciate / prefer the Haitians over the Dominicans. Did you mean to say what I have observed?

I posted a survey once on another board. Preference was 4 to 1 in favor of dominicanas on quite a large sample (about sixty replies if I remember correctly). Did not inquire the nationality of the respondents but they would have been, as here, mostly Americans.

On the other hand, lots of lurkers replied and they probably included many who had never been to the DR and wouldn't know a haitiana if she squatted on their faces, so not very scientific.

Mongering is only one aspect of DR life. It happens to be a shared interest amongst us hobbyists here, but be wary of assuming mongering experiences can be applied to DR life in general.

There are lots of DR women who are being supported by, and even married to, foreign men who don't reside in the DR. There are chicos with generous French Canadian mommas, not to mention long distance gay relationships. We are talking condos, SUVs, motorbikes here. You won't generally meet them in Sosua, or BC.

These are not street hookers, but are often employed in businesses controlled by investors, and these guys can be very demanding and exercise control not only through money, but through family, friends and other employees, They demand exclusivity for their money, and the myth that there are lots of Sosua putas with multiple Western Union boyfriends is no more accurate than the portrayal of prostitution in "Pretty Woman". A regular WU remittance can be hard to come by, and even harder to maintain. There are no secrets in Sosua.

As to "cheating", if the foreign gringo can demand a weeks service 24/7 at a moments notice, seems to me the local boyfriend should be the one worried about cheating.

And does a guy like Hugh Hefner really go to bed worrying about his stable of playboy bunnies "cheating", because some of them have boyfriends back home?

These are some of the things to be aware of when contemplating long term residency, or long term GF relationships.

In the interests of full disclosure, I have a long term DR "GF". And a lot of what I post here, is from her experiences and observations.

You will be surprised how many want to keep a GF by sending support every month. They are not really buying fidelity. They want a smiling girl meet them at the airport and keep them company. I know of some who keep two or three in different parts of the world.

After having done that nowadays I am strictly a monger looking for dating site girls and occasionally working girls. Experiences vary on a scale from excellent to bad.

To each his own. There are some who do not think twice about dropping thousands of dollars for a girl while others want to spend as less as possible. There is no reason to debate this behavior of supporting girls.
